1. So Jonas Gahr Støre can now read Hebrew??
Sasson ,   Har Nof, Israel   (11.10.08)
LOL, how would he know what the graffiti said, and how would you know if it was painted by Jews or Muslims and how do you know if the stores were looted by a Muslim or Jew?
2. Nazi aspersions by Norwegian against Jews
jerry ,   New York, USA   (11.10.08)
Note that Store was very careful not to say that it was the Jews who looted and destroyed the stores in Hebron, though he implied it. He also saw graffiti saying "Arabs to the gas Chambers" though he never accused the Jews of writing those signs; he only implied it. Implication by inclination is the essence of European brown-nosing of the Arabs. The "smear" is as good as a well documented fact. Pity the world he is creating. Let me imply then that he is a raving anti-Semite, without actually accusing him of it directly. If the shoe fits, wear it.
3. Store
(11.11.08)
Poor Mr. Store. He wanted to make some money by parroting the likes of Tommy Lapid, Sterhel and Zimmerman and gets condemned.
4. Dreams of a Goddless fool are what come out of the heart of

5. Norway and their support for the Palis
Zuri ,   Sydney Austarlia   (11.11.08)
It is noted that Norway, the richest country in the world per ca pita, in April 2007 were releasing 100 million dollars to Palestinian authorities. It was noted that Norway claim their support to Hamas in order to speed the peace process in meddle east. Jonas Gahr Støre denies the connection between Nazi association to Israeli occupation, there was a call to boycott Israeli products in 2006 but the Norwegian public didn't stop buying Israeli product at that period. Norway has it's own currency, it is not part of E.U. and basically they don't really have to. There is no define line of anti- Israeli, but there is a support and recognition for Hamas. My conclusion is that Støre and Norway is not necessarily against Israel, we know where we stand and always be aware of this fact.
6. Norway Sucks
Egil ,   Bergen   (11.11.08)
Once a quisling, always a quisling.
7. Move all "palistinians" to EU so they can get loving care.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.11.08)
8. Anti-Semitism.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.11.08)
According to a 2008 survey released this past week by the Pew Research Center, as part of its Global Attitudes Project, hatred of Jews and general xenophobia are on the rise in Europe. Pew also noted a strong correlation between anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism. Spain displayed both the highest level and the most pronounced increase in anti-Semitism, doubling since 2005 to 46 percent of adults surveyed. Among European states, Britain had the lowest level of anti-Jewish sentiment, with fewer than 10 percent of those polled expressing negative views of Jews. We have to fight anti-Semitism as explained at : http://xrl.us/kw6hh
9. Remember where Oslo is located
Phil ,   US   (11.11.08)
Nobody should be surprised at the Norwegian minister's slurs against Israel. However, to compare anything to the nazi Holocaust is so immoral and despicable that Israel should revoke his visa. Ironically, the greatest catastrophe to befall Israel involved the Oslo accords that were brokered by Norway, a collaborationist nazi satellite.
10. RECALL OUR AMBASSADOR AND THREATEN TO BREAK RELATIONS
b. moskowitz ,   cincinnati usa   (11.11.08)
UNLESS HE ISSUES A FULL APOLOGY IN PUBLIC. yOU KNOW THERE WAS NO SUCH COMMENT ABOUT GAS CHAMBERS WRITTEN OR THE LEFTISTS AND YNET WOULD HAVE ALREADY SHOWN IT.
11. Show some cojones
barry ,   chicago   (11.11.08)
call in their ambassador, recall Israel's from Oslo. It's really just a pipe dream to hope that Israel's obsequious pols will react in any meaningful way.
12. What do you expect from Oslo?
David ,   Shilo ISRAEL   (11.11.08)
13. Quisling is a Norwegian name
Adam ,   Oxford, UK   (11.11.08)
What a disgusting government Norway has!
14. Norway's FM was right
Objective Reader   (11.11.08)
What's the difference between Nazi and IDF/settlers? Norway's FM was right in his writtings. Palestinian are enduring Kristhalnight all the time. IDF and settlers are war criminals. Their inhuman actions must be stopped!
15. I don't understand why Livni & Peres met this Douchebag.
Tahl ,   Israel   (11.11.08)
How pathetic can our leadership get? Can't they stand up for Israel's honor? Grow some backbone, you wimps!
16. Objective Reader
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.11.08)
The list of differences is endless, but if you ask, how about two: 1. Number of Arabs begging to come to Israel for high quality medical care which Europeans and Arab States refuse to give: MANY Number of Jews begging to go to areas under Nazi rule: Even you know 2. Population growth of Arabs under Israeli rule: highest in the world Population growth of Jews under Nazi rule: Even you know An interesting aside, if you want to make Nazi comparisions. What is the expected fate of a Jew under Arab rule? Hint: what happened to the large Jewish communities in the Arab countries?
17. read hebrew?
Thomas ,   oslo, norway   (11.11.08)
"how would he know what the graffiti said, and how would you know if it was painted by Jews or Muslims" maybe u didnt read the article well enough. The grafitti said "gaz the arabs" in english. Støre can read english... And what muslim would write that??
18. Missing picture and quotation
Anders ,   Norway   (11.11.08)
The picture Store talked about is shown in this articel in an Norwegian paper: http://www.dagsavisen.no/utenriks/article379972.ece I don't understand why they don't give the correct quotation from the book, which acording to this articel is (translated from Norwegian): "Most of the stores is closed. The shutters is closed and bolted with markings from the israeli police. They are marked like other business has been marked in other places at other times. On a door it says: "Gaz the Arabs". In english" Now Store comments that the qoutaion can be interpret as the reader like. It is no direct link to the Nazis, and he dosn't say that text on the door is "Arabs to the gas chambers". If you want to criticies somebody, please do so with the correct facts.
19. the FOR or AGAINST rhetoric
Henrik ,   Oslo, Norway   (11.11.08)
As usual there are those that are just waiting to see out-of-context quotes as signs that they are "the enemy". Støre has the goal that I presume all people with a brain has; a peaceful solution that most of the Israelis AND the palestinians can live with. Does the fact that one (or more) Israelis called for gassing of Arab civilians not bother any Israelis at all? It should. And it was that guy who wrote that who was the one invoking WWII memories. Støre just reported on what he saw. By the way, did anyone of you read his book? That's what I thought. Those who call Norway's foreign minister anti-Israel knows nothing about him.
20. Støre did not compare settlers with nazis
Per Person ,   Oslo   (11.11.08)
Støre just described what he saw in Palestine, and wrote "this is similar to what have happened at other places and other times.". Apparently and interesting enough some Israelis think the reality in Palestine resemble what happened with Jews in Europa during the nazi rule.
21. The true story behind the media headings
Perito ,   Bergen   (11.11.08)
Unfortunately, the media has a tendency to take things out of context and out of proportions. I consider myself a true Israel friend, I have many jewish friends, and I had one of my greatest journeys traveling around in beautiful Israel, from Tel Aviv, to Jerusalem, and to the Death Sea and Mesada. I am also fully aware of the terror treaths that israelis have been enduring from islamistic fundamentalists for years. Still, I agree with Støre that the settlers treatment of the palestines in Hebron is outrageous and inhuman. This is the key issue that should be discussed here. Støre never compared settlers with nazis; but described true observations he made in the streets of Hebron, that gave him associations with Germany in the late 30s. He compared the grafitti on the doors of Hebron with grafitti on the doors of Jewish retailers in Europe more than 60 years ago. He did not stigmatize the settlers themselves. I encourage everyone here to take on the important discussion; how can the situation of palestines improve in Hebron; what obligations fall on the settlers versus palestines. I agree with the great Israeli writer Amos Oz, who states that both sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must accept painful compromises in order to live side-by-side. However, my question for the Palestinians in Hebron is: What do they have to compromise over, when they have nothing....?
22. Love vs Hate
Johan ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (11.11.08)
Does Store become an enemy of jews for this? No, he becomes an enemy of the closed mind, who's not willing to see more than black or white, friend or enemy, muslim or jew
23. Jonas Gahr Støre
Daniel Hoogland ,   Narbonne France   (11.11.08)
Of course : all Israelis are free of faults, all criticism is anti-semitism.
24. Anti-Semitism???
Fredrik Jørgensen ,   Oslo Norway   (11.11.08)
So is it not right to tell Israel that I don´t like their policy on Gaza and Hebron? Is it not right to say that there are correlations between the Ghettoes of ww2 and in Palestine? Maybe those in Israel who are eager to comment on anti-semitism should try to compare history and todays situation. Never again, thats right, so please don´t do it again. One of the main problems of ww2 was that jewish and other minorities were deprived of their humanity and rights. So what is happening to the Palestinians? By the way criticizing Israel and it´s politics is not anti-semitism!!!!! Israel need to accept that!!! Israel is a country like any other!! And those who say otherwise or drag anti-semitism into this are fools and aggitators.
25. Selfimage
Hanne Kj Yndestad ,   Sweden   (11.11.08)
and objective wiews are not often the same. The state where the two people lived together for centuries is now ruled by one of them. The other is put into isolated areas on the terms of the ruling people. Inside those isolated areas are children and innocent people suffering from too little supplies of nearly everything. The ruling people decide when to let in some, and when not to. The world have difficulties believing that one people who went through such terrible hard times ( before and during WW2) ever could punish others, or let living neighbours suffer the same way. The only explaination is a truth about mankind : We become what we hate.
26. Enemy of Israel??
Odd ,   Norway   (11.11.08)
The settlers are the ENEMY of the state of ISRAEL. Not Støre. Here you write "send the arabs to europe", ok do that, send 50% of the arabs to europe. and recall all your embassies (as you wanted), then you will have arabs in the west, south, north, east and no embassies before USA.
27. A valid comparison
Adam Keller ,   Holon, Israel   (11.11.08)
To whom should people who write "Arabs to the gas chambers" be compared? To Mahatma Gandhi or Mother Theresa, perhaps?
28. Quisling???
Morten ,   Oslo, Norway   (11.11.08)
Egil of Bergen, what are you talking about? Do you really mean that, because of Quisling and a rather small group of national socialists during the war, the 4,5 million inhabitants of Norway will always behave like Quislings? Apart from the sheer stupidity of such a position (really, there's no diplomatic way of describing it), how will you translate that to the rest of the world history? The 1 billion Indians - "once a Gandhi - always a Gandhi"? The 300 million Americans - "once a Bush, always a Bush"? Comments like yours are really unhelpful in creating a more nuanced debate on Middle East in your home country of Norway.
29. To all concerned Norwegians
Tahl ,   Israel   (11.11.08)
There may be some problems between Israel and the Palestinians, nobody denies that. But we prefer it if Europe let us take care of things by ourselves, instead of having politicians who know very little about the conflict, make their uneducated comments and influence public opinion in their countries. Without all this bad publicity caused by the European politicians and media, Israel's image would have been a lot better. That's why we're angry here. So yes, things could be better for both sides in this conflict, but we do our best to resolve it, under the difficult circumstances, which you cannot grasp in your calm country. To explain this, I'll just say that Israel is responsible for about 20% of the deterioration, and the Palestinians for 80%. But in your media, Israel gets more than 90% of the blame. At any rate, it was never your task to meddle in our business and judge us, the same way we do not judge you. Just as Israel does not have the moral highgrounds to lecture Norway what to do, the opposite is true too. The last time you did it with Teria Larsen, we paid for it with over 1000 dead Israelis. All we ask is please - even if your intentions are good - just let us be, leave us alone. Don't lecture Israel, don't report about Israel, don't tarnish Israel's image in your media. Find other interesting things to do. Darfur and human rights in Tibet, for instance, are much more troubling issues. As for Israel and the Palestinians, peace will come from our midst, by ours and the Palestinians' resolve - not from the outside. Maybe with a bit of America's help, but nobody else. So don't meddle here, just leave us alone.
30. #25 Hanne
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.11.08)
You write like a Swedish supporter of Israel, but sadly some of your facts are incorrect. Before 1948 the rule in Israel changed over the millenia, including Romans, Byzantines, Persians, Arabs, Christians, Turks and finally British Imperialist forces. Due to the difficult and primitive conditions, the population was very low and included many nations: Jews, Beduins, Druze, Middle Eastern Christians, European Christians, Samaritans, Turks and Muslim Arabs. The British received a mandate to establish a Jewish state because everyone (prescient of the Holocaust) recognized that the Jews need a homeland and because Israel had such a low population at that time. As Jews started to return home, Arabs from neighboring countries (mostly Lebanon, Syria, Iraq) also immigrated in massive numbers. The British decided to encourage Arab immigration and prevent Jewish immigration to strengthen their Imperialist hold in the Middle East, including establishing a puppet regime in what is now Jordan. No Jew in Israel has a problem in sharing the land with the pre-1900 inhabitants of all nations, including the Arab Moslims. In contrast, since 1900 the Arab Muslims try to exterminate of the Jews. For example, Hebron and Shchem were ethnically cleansed of their ancient Jewish communities in the late 1920s.
