1. Nobody better complain about this
Vered, Israel   (11.11.08)
if you're not even going to bother to vote! You deserve to be taken over by the Chareidim if you can't bother yourselves to go out and vote for someone who can fix Jerusalem's problems.
2. jewish Taliban or...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.11.08)
a clever story trying to scare people into voting???
3. Disgrace
guy ,   los angeles   (11.11.08)
It's long overdue that those ultra orthodox citizens who break the law are arrested and appropriately punished---they don't recognize the sovereignty of the State of Israel and they don't serve in the IDF---perhaps deportation might be best..
4. Haredim riots in Jerusalem
Anon ,   Israel   (11.11.08)
Outragiuos that they Haredium who are suppose to adhear to the Torah are using violence and intimidation to scare away voters from the poles inorder to ensure their candidate win for major, I wouldn't put forgeing ballots beneath them either. It is disgusting their behaivor in my opinion and those responsible for the violence and idtimidation should be arrested.
5. Haridi bashing....by the stupidity of....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (11.11.08)
the Haridim themselves. Anti-democratic, nasty, violent elements in that society masquerading as religion. Do they really think God wants them to behave this way? Do they really think this is "Torah Judaism" and that this is how to save and protect Israel? And they call peaceful, law abiding gay people parading down a Jerusalem street not bothering a living soul an abomination. It just boggles the mind.
6. Haredi and Ultra Orthodox riot in Jerusalme
DT ,   TA Isr   (11.11.08)
First it was the so called "Christians' Coptic and Greek Orthodox ,and now it is the Haredi and Ultra orthodox Jews ! Whose next ?!
7. I require an explanation
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.11.08)
as to what moral right these folks have to cast a vote in this country of ours.
8. haredi and conscription
alexi   (11.11.08)
You want to study, fine study. But, youi have to go into the idf and that includes the rabbis. No more pathetic weak jew image. I direct all israelis to become martial artists including female. Even some sick should be given such training. Cut the bull about chosen or shas yosef, like he is the divnity. Don't make a christ out of josef. Get the hell into the army.
9. Israeli religious hypocrites
Grant Thomas ,   USA   (11.11.08)
Having just returned from a tour in Israel, I'd like to point out that I found the ultra-orthodox Jews to be hypocritcal and rude. Jesus knew what he was talking about when he called them "hypocrites and a brood of vipers". We also found the Greek monks at the Tomb of the Holy Sepulcre to be extremely rude and nasty to the tourist. By the way, that is not the real site! The Garden Tomb is the correct site, so the hypocrites can have their false, icon-laden site! Disappointed by the behavior of the "religious" Jews and the Orthodox Christians. They need to read Scripture!
10. In what sense are these orthodox Jewish?
Sidney ,   USA   (11.11.08)
Does having a Jewish mother matter more than Jewish values and principles?
11. This is why I voted for Barkat
Rabbi Ashkenazi ,   Jerusalem, ISrael   (11.11.08)
12. #8 "weak Jew image" is from the seculars
Jared ,   New York, USA   (11.11.08)
I think the "weak Jew image" was solidified after the Jews who served in the IDF lost the last way, and after the Jewish country let itself get bombarded from Gaza for years without doing anything except signing a "truce" with a terrorist group sworn to its destruction. Secular Israel returned us to the era of weak Jews, not the Haredim, who had nothing to do with it. (And yes, I served in the IDF, lest you want to go that route in your response. And I'm secular.)
13. I'm Orthodox..I didnt riot
Jew   (11.11.08)
More anti Jewish propaganda from ynet.
14. NO!?!?!? Haredi in violent clashes?
Talula ,   Israel   (11.11.08)
Well, well, well!! That's a first..............................NOT! Rubber bullets b'tachat.
15. I meant, the last "war," not "way."
Jared ,   New York, USA   (11.11.08)
16. #12 More blah blah
israel   (11.11.08)
So what if you served in the IDF? Big deal. You ran away to live in New York. Now you can butt out of our business.
17. Do any of you get the point of this article?
S Judah ,   London   (11.11.08)
Other then just a usual bit of Haradi bashing by the so called enlightned. This appears to be a few extreme Haradi fanatics trying to stop the Majority of the Haradim voting. We could be mischevious and say it was Birkat supporters in Purim outfits stoping Porush supporters from voting.
18. Haredi are not true Orthodox. They are frauds trying to ...
Stewart ,   U.S.A.   (11.11.08)
hijack a religion: pure fanatics. They have a wonderful way of twisting the Torah to fit their needs. There are many other modern Orthodox who would never do what the Haredi do. They really are the future and are more welcoming to other Jews.
19. #13
Secular ,   Israel   (11.11.08)
Wanna medal for being normal? Bully for you.
20. #16
Jared ,   New York, USA   (11.11.08)
With pleasure. You are rude, aggressive, ignorant, disrespectful people who live in a Third World slum.
21. to no. 4 & 5 in honor of the Torah
mosh ,   jerusalem   (11.11.08)
set the record straight, the Torah prohibits physical attacks or verbal attacks for that matter, if an individual who calls himself haredi transgresses that he has commited a sin, this does not take away from the truth and the righteousness of the Torah itself, and does also not reflect on the vast majority of haredim that try to keep all the torahs laws. and to no.3 would I hear you say to deport all the arabs as they also do not recognize the sovereignty of the state and do not serve in the army - any jew has the right to live in this land regardless of the state.
22. #20
Talula ,   Israel   (11.11.08)
I really don't think anyone really CARES what you think. If you think New York is any better, someone had better get you a white stick. Get a life, LOSER!
23. #22 TALULA
Jared ,   New York, USA   (11.11.08)
Well, you cared enough to respond, didn't you?
24. MORE HAREDI THUGGERY - YOU WONT STOP US
Jerusalemite Student   (11.12.08)
THIS TIME WE VOTED, AND THIS TIME WE'LL WIN. JERUSALEM DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU.
25. A tiny group gets in a fight and you smear all religious.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.12.08)
26. They should not be allowed to vote in the first place
Simon ,   TA the free city   (11.12.08)
As usual here is another example of the Ultra Orthodox who obviously haven't heard of democracy, and use violence as a way to achieve their goals. The very same people who do not accept the rules of the game - equal work, equal pay and equal duties. They said, 'No, we have a special status in which we do not work and we do not pay taxes and we do not defend the country; you defend it for us.
27. #20 Jared its not your bussiness
Simon ,   TA the free city   (11.12.08)
What goes on in Israel is not your concern, you do not live here, work here, pay taxes or serve in our army. Yet you feel free to tell us how to run our lives. Well no ones interested that you once served in the army , but then chose to live in NY. Some Zionist you are buddy.
28. everybody was kung fu fightin'
Merle the Earl ,   Swing City, Iowa   (11.12.08)
those Jews were fast as lightnin'
29. #25 Bunny Boy armchair zionism at its worst
Simon ,   TA the free city   (11.12.08)
How is the weather in the holy city of LA these days bunny boy? I heard a women was walking down Rodeo drive with her elbow showing, should`nt that be a concern to you? As internal politics of Israel are quite honestly not your business.
30. #17 S Judah how is the view from London?
Simon ,   TA the free city   (11.12.08)
I think you might find that for those of us who actually live in Israel, work, pay taxes and serve in the army, the view of what these undemocratic, lawless religious parasite thugs are doing is somewhat a bit more clear then the opinion of some arm chair Zionist in London drinking his cup of tea yet commenting on life 3,000 miles away !
