observer   (11.20.08)
again, due to budget cuts. It seems all our money is going to defense projects, yet we have no security.. With only 1 international airport to take care of, i dont see what the big deal is.. Someone just isnt doing their job.
2. so do your job Mofaz cos you knew it before and u did nothin
(11.20.08)
3. Aha! they take it to heart!
Adam   (11.20.08)
And what did the honourable minister do in the past 12 months since the Lapidot report? How long does it take to issue guidelines and deal with security?
4. Israelis killed in terror attack by arab nut at LAX, BG.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.20.08)
5. Ben Gurion Airport
Abir ,   Chicago, IL   (11.20.08)
"A category usually prevalent among third world countries." Lets see.......rampant crime, juvenile violence on the rise, law & order is a joke, an ineffective police force, government corruption, political instability, unsafe airport...... I suppose that is enough to put us front & center among third world countries.
6. Ben Gurion Airport
Sharona ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.20.08)
THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! Our one international airport is not up to world class standards?? Fix it NOW. This is a huge blow that the tourism industry, already in crisis can ill-afford. What an embarrassment.
7. Airport Safety Ranking
Roxy ,   Israel   (11.20.08)
There is no excuse for our only Airport to fail such an inspection, except that someone was not doing their job and should be fired and the improvements made right away! Unless of course the Airport authority is waiting until we have an aviation disaster to do something, which seems a normal thing to do in this country to wait until we are in trouble see the drought problem as an example(they knew about it over 2yrs ago and only now are they taking action). So which is it, remember the old saying an Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! In other words fix the problems now before disaster strikes!
8. WHAY AN INDITEMENT
Sid Emess   (11.20.08)
iF THIS IS WHAT AN EX GENERAL COS ALLOWED THEN WE NOW KNOW WHY ZAHAL IS IN THE STATE IT IS - MOFAZ HAS TO GO NEVER TO REAPEAR IN POLITICS OR THE ARMY
9. i still feel Safer @ Ben Gurion rather than the rest
Anon   (11.20.08)
Feeling @ home
10. Unsafe ,,, Huh Huh ??
jimy ,   Jerusalem   (11.20.08)
Oh My God , when saying Bengorion is unsafe , it will only mean in the twisted minds of the airport security that they have to harrass the arabs more than they are doing right know , this will only mean more humilation , more degregation , and more bad treatment for arab travellers , thats the fact
11. #4 Bunnie Meyer
Brian ,   NYC USA   (11.20.08)
The report wasn't about security. It was about aviation safety.
12. This is inexcusable and must be fixed
Zvi   (11.20.08)
13. ben Gurion Airport
Millicent ,   Israel   (11.20.08)
#9 is right I feel alot safer walking around inside the terminal at Ben Gurion Airport than I did while I was at JKF waiting to fly here, but that isn't the problem the FAA is talking about,it is the problems with the Control Tower's outdated machines, the Pirate radiostations jaming the frequency that the airport control tower uses to communicate with all the aircraft in the air. Fix the problems, make it a felony to intefer with Aircraft control radio frequency, and physically send the police to confiscate their equipment as well! We don't want any aviation disasters here!
14. #2 - he wouldnt know how
oferdesade ,   israel   (11.20.08)
another perfect example of the wisdom of generals. they think they can lead a country, when in fact they can hardly read a map. if it were up to him, he'd shoot the lot of' 'em. that seems to be his answer for most stuff - what's to care about a coupla antisemitic safety inspectors. ah, hell. it's probably worse in afghanistan - why didnt the report site afghanistan. it's always the jews.... etc.
15. Mofaz should concentrate on getting his ministry in order
Bruno ,   Haifa   (11.20.08)
This would normally be grounds for dismissal - toying with the safety of Israeli and other travellers, as well as that of those living under flight paths, is intolerable and unacceptable.
16. # 10 twisted minds?
DM ,   Amsterdam   (11.20.08)
The only people harassing others are the Jew hating freaks visiting the Arabs in Israel. Can't they travel through Jordan? And besides that even a twisted mind undertands the difference between a machine and a person. The machines are lacking the proper security standards not the people.
17. shaul mofaz and the airport
Joe ,   Afula   (11.20.08)
This is all Shaul Mofaz`s and his party, Kadima`s, fault. He wants to build another airport in the Jezreel Valley, destroying the most beautiful part of the Land of israel, and he can`t even get our main airport in order. meanwhile the train to jerusalem has stopped, the lightrail in Jerusalem is stopped and the subway in tel aviv is non existant. He is the worst Infrustructure and Transportation minister that we have ever had!
18. don't you all find this rating interesting
(11.20.08)
particularly coming from a country that suffered 3,000 dead civilians from a muslim terror attack in its own airports? don't you find this passing of judgement interesting in light of the fact that never has a terror attack happen at ben gurion airport by comparrison to terrorism at english airports and other parts of the world. yes, usa, i would rather fly from ben gurion and use el al than all your pilots and planes and airports.
19. airport security
elliot ,   usa   (11.20.08)
let's hope the courts do not get involved in this too to slow down needed changes--banning strikes might help too
