1. Why can’t Israeli leaders say this!
David G   (11.24.08)
2. A movie is a good analogy
JAyJ ,   ISrael   (11.24.08)
Just like a movie is an orchestrated imitation of a pre conceived idea going along a pre determined story line, the bogus idea, and their push through propaganda, of an imaginary Arab Palastinian people with thousands of years history in this region........ is exactly the same.
3. Great Article
Nathaniel ,   Israel   (11.24.08)
As person who believed in the peace initiatives, I find it unfortunate to say that I am completely disenchanted by the continued pursuit for peace. We have been battered time and again and still, some of us are still trying to believe in this euphoric idea. Today I feel that peace will actually be the death of us. I only wish that we would wake up and hold our ground.
4. you are not telling the truth mr.rosenfeld,
abraham ,   hebron-palestine   (11.24.08)
because you do not mention that any agreement will be protected with all force by the international comunity and most important by nato-troops. after this agreement is signed ( if ), noone on the palestinien side and noone on the israeli side can go back. why you dont think more about that mr .rosenfeld? i am a palestinien from the west bank and i am sure that most of the west-bank palestiniens want an agreement (a fair agreement ). and would not allow anyone to torpedo it than!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why are you dont telling us all the alternatives? the status quo? is that what you want? not verry clever mr.rosenfeld. peace
5. #4 abraham
(11.24.08)
as an israeli that wants the same thing as you, i hear you loud and clear. but, the reality on the ground is different than you or i wish to believe. we believe in peace, but most palestinians do not and they have shown it time and again. the palestinian leaders, not only do not want our kind of peace, they want our destruction. maybe the people want a different thing than the palestinian leaders???? since when did the palestinian corrupt leaders speak for the palestinian people??? you see, putting a nato force after a peace deal to protect both you and i is an iluusion. just look at the ineffective nato force in labanon and what hizbullah did!!! did the nato force work there? no!!! did the nato force make sure that resolution 1701 is enforced and that hizbullah disarm? no!!! how can israelis trust a nato force to protect the country??? also, you are not talking about all palestinians here. what i am talking about is the thugs and terrorists that do not intend to follow any aggreements until all of israel is finished...like hizbullah, hamas, islamic jihad and other terror factions in this region. they don't pay attention to nato or to any treaty. they only pay attention to what they want and not the rule of law. agreements for them is just toilette paper and never to be followed as we have seen time and again. no, israel can't trust a un force or nato to protect tghe country and israel has seen many times that truces and deals don;t hold even among the palestinians like hamas and fatah. how can we trust that if you guys kill each other on a regular basis, you won;t then kill us. you see now??? it's not what we want, you and i. it's basically how we eliminate terror gangs and thugs from derailing anything we agree upon. only through their elimination, can order and peace come about.
6. The Jewish state, should not seek to make peace at any price
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.24.08)
There is no hope for the Jewish state surviving in the nastiest neighborhood in the world if it presents itself as inwardly irresolute and unwilling to engage in war. The Arab adversary should always be fully aware that Israel is resolute, steadfast and more ready to wage war than agree to a fraudulent peace. If the Arab and Muslim world rejects Israel, it must live with the consequences of its enmity and become the ultimate loser. A Jewish state, which no longer seeks to make peace at any price will prosper and grow. It will also engender respect from both its friends and its enemies. As to the Palestinians peoplehood: http://xrl.us/osjrj
7. the song(movie) remains the same...
oded   (11.24.08)
great, sobering article.. to all of those disillusioned lefties who beleive that the outcome will be any different then what dr. rosenfeld deiscribes here-- wake up already. the arabs ask way more then they are entilted to, and isreal is now willng to give up way more then it can afford. territorial concesions obviously don't work. look at gaza. it is juden-frei, and yet qassams rein over daily. the solution? ynet will not publish it, probably , but it starts with a "t".....
8. Road to peace is very clear
Palestinian   (11.24.08)
1- Return of all refugees to their depopulated towns and villages in the Galilee, Negev desert and elsewhere. 2- Full authority over East Jerusalem including al-Aqsa Mosque area (Temple mount), and agreement over Jewish acess of the site. 3- Complete withdrawal to 1967 borders. (Solving the problem of settlements by maybe giving settlers some Palestinian documents, etc...) The road to peace is really clear. OR One binational state!
9. Just like some dumb blonde....
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (11.24.08)
Bob, a good-looking guy, walks into a sports bar around 9:58 PM. He sits down next to this blonde and stares up at the TV. The 10:00 news was just coming on, and they're covering the story of a man about to jump from the highest ledge of a skyscraper. The blonde looks at Bob and says, "Do you think he'll jump?" Bob says, "You know, I bet he will." The blonde replies, "Well, I bet he won't." Bob places $20 on the bar and says, "You're on!" Just as the blonde places her money on the bar, the guy does a swan dive off of the building, falling to his death. The blonde now is very upset, hands her $20 to Bob and says, "Fair is fair. Here's your money." Bob replies, "I can't take your money, I saw this earlier on the 5 o'clock news and I knew he would jump." The blonde replies, "Well, I saw it, too, but I didn't think he'd do it again."
10. But -- "Talk" We Must!
JacobN ,   Chicago   (11.24.08)
To stop talking means that the status quo is acceptable, or that the sides are ready for the next phase -- war in the absence of dialogue. The kind of vacuum caused by silence will be more dangerous than idle talk... So we keep talking.
11. 20 years of BS no one believes it anymore
dmgold ,   nz   (11.25.08)
After 20 years of concessions, pulling the wool over the eyes of the Israeli public, I think no one but that idiot Olmert pretends that there is any chance of peace with the palestinians a people that have no interest in peace. The Un is toothless, the Europeans and americans are bankrupt - Israelis are the bone to be tossed to the rabid muslim world to placate them for a few moments. I for one voted for the chance of peace in the 90's and in the early 2000's next election I will ensure that I vote for the "two Ronnies". Enough Political correctness. Israel is a Jewish state full stop.
12. JacobN, Chicago #10: You are a coward!
Steve ,   US   (11.25.08)
13. #9 Hartley, thanks for the laugh!!!
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.25.08)
14. abbas said: Only 95? No. I want ALL of Israel."
marlene ,   Philadelphia, USA   (11.25.08)
Anyone with half a brain knows this. Unfortunately, there's none in the White House and none to come. "Let those with ears, hear; let those with eyes, see...".
15. what needs to be done by each side
Fair   (11.25.08)
The Palestinians must accept the safe existence of Israel west of the Green Line. But what about the continuous construction and expansion of Israeli settlements east of the Green Line, which are illegal under international law? If Israel wants peace this must stop and the existing settlements must be dismantled.
16. Sorry, but Israelis are just as naive. They'll follow Likud
Howard   (11.26.08)
They've seen how "peace" gestures always result in more violence... They've seen the same movie over and over... And guess what??? They keep on doing it. Many Israelis will cast a vote in the next elections for Mr. Netanyahu - who has already said quite openly that he is ready for more discussions with the Arabs and more concessions and withdrawals. Israelis, wake up! Likud, the hero in your eyes, is up to no good. You need to organize around a truly Zionist party, such as MK Eldad's Hatikva, one that will concern itself with security above diplomacy, with safekeeping the land instead of offering useless peace gestures.
17. Can the Israelis accept a “Palestinian state” ?
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.26.08)
70% of Moslems in the Palestinian Authority believe that suicide terrorist bombings against civilians can be often or sometimes justified. The sinister prospect of danger to millions of Jews will immediately spring into being if the plans to establish a ‘Palestinian state’ in Judea and Samaria are pursued. No one can reasonably expect the Israelis to accept a state on their border which would become a launching pad for terrorist activities and be a second terrorist base to Gaza as described at : http://xrl.us/bmdnh
