Just waiting to erupt. And, believe me, it will not be an eruption of democracy & human rights. Only Mubarak's police state apparatus is preventing Egypt from becoming an Islamic state. Leaving aside the issue of freedom of speech, which I doubt should be applied to Islamic crazies anyway, I think this illustrates rather well why talking about democracy in Arab countries is pretty much denying reality. It also illustrates the enormous fallacy which exists among some of our politicians who think peace treaties with Arab states mean anything. In the long term, they mean exactly what our "trucé"with Hamas means - just about nothing. Egypt has spent all the years since the signing of our peace treaty building up it's military with American aid money, the "bribe"the US gave them to make peace. And who do you think that military build-up is aimed at?
