1. 8 million euro? Integrating them will cost
DM ,   Amsterdam   (11.26.08)
8 billion!
2. 6% of the GNP? The correct answer is
DM ,   Amsterdam   (11.26.08)
0.00009% your reporting is terrible. Or its the Experts who can not connect the dots... Israels GNP is 105 billion dollars!
3. arabs build without permits, Jews are denied new housing.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.26.08)
arabs shoul be integrated into the Jordanian economy, not the Israeli economy.
4. They will never "integrate" into your society.
Cameron ,   USA   (11.26.08)
Like trying to wash & bathe a cat.
5. Small price to pay!
Israel ,   US   (11.26.08)
6. Someone's got their decimal point in the wrong place
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (11.26.08)
Israel's GNP is well over 100 Billion dollars, so a $10.2 million "loss" is hardly six percent of GNP. In some ways, this is a "chicken and egg" problem. The Arab sector wants the benefits of full equality without demonstrating full loyalty and a desire to be full Israelis. Yet they'll never demonstrate that full commitment to the state unless they get what they feel is their due. But incessant talk about Arab "autonomy" understandably sets back their cause. The high-tech sector is a special case of sorts, since much of it is related to national security, and much of it is initially started by "army buddies". The Arab sector is not part of that network.
7. imported labour damages the economy
zionist forever   (11.26.08)
What is costing the country heavily is the reliance on foreign workers and palestinians. They may work for less than an Israeli but the money they earn is either sent back to families abroad or spent in the palestinian areas so non of this money is recycled in the economy which is good for business There are more unemployed Israelis claiming unemployment benefits and there will be fewer Israelis paying taxes which the government can then reinvest in the economy.
8. They don't want to integrate.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.26.08)
Not really. They want to replace us - to make Israel into another Arab Muslim state. In their mind, we are all "settlers" .... Just listen to their political leaders, their religious leaders, their community leaders. They can't reconcile themselves to a Jewish state. That is just not how they define their identity. Generally speaking, this is not how minorities in other countries define themselves. This is not about economic integration or civil rights. If that were the case, the integration would have been accomplished long ago. And please don't tell me about discrimination. Not that a certain amount of discrimination exists - it most certainly does. The question to ask is why shouldn't it. You'll excuse me, but I don't want to live in close proximity to people who hate me. I don't want to work with them either. And I don't trust them. It's not up to me to change my attitude - it's up to them to work hard to deserve a change in my attitude. And I see no evidence to that effect, quite the contrary.
9. You can't have it both ways.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.26.08)
If you define yourself as a Palestinian, run around with Palestinian flags, if your religious & political leaders spend all their time slandering the State of Israel, if all your efforts are to delegitimize our state, if you think of us as invaders with no right to be here, then why would you think we would make any efforts to ''integrate'' you?
10. I can't help but notice there are no talkbacks.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.26.08)
Gee, I can't imagine why. Hilarious. Do you think that by not printing our talkbacks, you'll change our opinions?
11. Educational gap
Raphael ,   Netanya   (11.26.08)
The main cause of under employment, underqualification, undereducation of a part of the population is the lack of birthcontrol. This generates poverty, poor parental care, poor reltaionship between children and parents, lack of motivation towards knowledge, as immediate earning is a reason for making more children. Any rehabilitation policy which doesnot rely upon birth control is built on sand. It is their choice: stop their demographic aggression, or remain the lower class.
12. No wonder they spit at Jews
Dotti ,   USA   (11.26.08)
The Jewish approach is not intelligent.
13. Well...give them whatever they want
Don ,   USA   (11.26.08)
Land, money, benefits...etc. Let the Jews work for them so that they can play backgammon, socialize, make more babies and hate Israel/Jews. Good deal!
14. IT IS 40 Billioin
MD ,   NAZARETH   (11.26.08)
More than 5,000 US$ foe every Jew
15. What about the obvious?
John ,   Vancouver, Canada   (11.27.08)
Maybe they don't want to integrate into the economy of a country that treats them as third class citizens and deprives other Palestinians from their basic human rights, illegally taking more and more of what little they have left. The comments made by Terry and zionist forever explains it all, how can they ever integrate with that.
16. All these hardworking arabs be better off in Saudi Arabia!
Dan Zell ,   Lod, Israel   (11.27.08)
They'll make more money there, be closer to center of their faith & live on Arab land! What-a-deal! Go-go!!!
17. This is the same way that leftists
Kev ,   London   (11.27.08)
...sold this dreck to us in the UK. Every person in the UK is just 7 pence more wealthy, and now we live with the constant threat of terrorism and the apocalyptic need for a new world order.
18. It's the Arab's choice to integrate or not, its Inaction
(11.27.08)
19. to #16
Bill ,   Germany   (11.27.08)
Go look at the map and find out where you are located. You will find out that you are the odd one and not the Palestinians. Come and join me here!
20. Some jews want to integrate arabs...
Plinio the elder   (11.28.08)
but all arabs want to disintegrate jews
21. Do not trust them.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.28.08)
The attitude of the Israeli Arabs to Israel can be summed up in a popular sayings: "take whatever you can and give nothing." For this reason they avoid paying taxes. At the same time they enjoy all the services and benefits which the state offers its citizens. Since they pay very little income tax, they are regarded statistically as belonging to the poor sector. But anybody who travels through Arab villages and towns in Israel is astonished by the wonderful villas of these "poor people". The Israeli Arabs are represented by three parties in the Knesset that are elected in free, democratic elections. One of them is officially communist, one officially Islamic, and one "national-democratic" but as far as their attitude to Israel as a Jewish state is concerned : they all openly wish for its disappearance although all of them swore allegiance to "the State of Israel and its laws" as described at: http://xrl.us/bi3hx
22. "Experts" ?
AVROHOM BILGREI ,   ZION   (11.28.08)
Excuse me while I go genuflect at the alter of EXPERTS ! VINTAGE YNET !
23. Robert Bernier, DITTO, DITTO,DITTO !!!!
AVROHOM BILGREI ,   ZION   (11.28.08)
24. STOP WITH THAT POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GARBAGE, IT'S DEADLY!!!
dp   (11.28.08)
Israel is not America, it is not safe to assume that by treating your enemies equal they will make nice, in fact they will exploit your equality gesture as a sign of weakness
25. talkbackers missing the point
Israeli   (11.28.08)
I know ALOT of Israeli Arabs who just want to be part of Israeli society economically and socially while keeping their Palestinian culture. The more we ignore them, the more they will end up on the radical margins.
26. to #13...
Jo ,   Israel   (11.29.08)
you shouldnt paint all the arabs with the same brush...there are many arabs here that work hard here in Israel, and that love this country. its people that think with your viewpoint that cause the friction between the arabs and jews...
27. To #25 and#26
JAyjay ,   Israel   (11.29.08)
Are you both stupid or have you never read the PA Charter???? You know, the one that calls for Israels destruction? I cant believe how blatantly blind leftists can be! I dont doubt that there are some peaceful Arabs working in Israel, but any Arab that considers himself a Palastinian is a liar and is only admitting that he wants Israel destroyed. You 2 forget the reason why the Romans, and then the Arabs, re invented this myth of a Palastine!. Only for one reason! To destroy Israel, kill THE jEWS AND STEAL THEIR LAND! You 2 fools probably think the sun shines out of Arafats ass too! Get some brains. Palastine is a mythm , but if you want to believe it, the just remember that Muslim Arabs are no more Palastinian then Jews or christians! They dont have a monopoly on this land do why should we give them anything. !
28. integrate the Jews first
Martin   (12.01.08)
Failing to integrate the Jews is a national biggest problem. The Arabs here are 10 times better than in the Arab countries.
29. That is cheap compared to the cost of Jewish lives
Rivkah   (12.01.08)
a lot of Arabs want to end. Poisoning food, injecting too much vaccine, fragging in the IDF by Arabs, etc. are examples of possible consequences of trusting the wrong people. The cost of integrating Arabs is far less than the cost of not integrating them.
30. There is time to integrate, and time to disintegrate...
tarator ,   US   (12.02.08)
They do not serve in the military, do not want to do National Service, demonstrate in favor of Hamas, sell information to Syria and Hizballa, kill Israeli hitchhikers and see themselves as Palestinians first and Arabs second. Otherwise, they are wonderful citizens: study in Jewish schools and Universities, get money for making more and more children, get elected in Knesset by their neighbors and use Israeli democracy and freedom of speech to vilify "their" country... Sure, integrate them into Mossad, General Staff, Military Industry, everywhere! Or, perhaps, just ask them politely to put their bodies where their souls are: another Arab country.
