1. At least Arabs and Religious can agree on something
Chaim   (12.01.08)
Right guys? A woman's place it at home, preferably behind a kitchen sink washing dishes for her 14 children and chauvinistic husband.
2. Minister : you live in the 21st century !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.01.08)
and in a modern State , where you are part of . With those ideas , what are you doing in the Avoda ?
3. it is the woman
hala ,   jerusalem   (12.01.08)
i like beuty built a good family have a carrer .there is no antagonisting between the three . one jewish woman told that in early youth we like friendship freedom in evry thing but at last we look for stability and husbound and family . shhe is secular educated woman and wize one .. it is the woman evrywhere can find herselfe in the three fields
4. Upto Arab women to change it
Talula ,   Israel   (12.01.08)
It'll take guts for them - but only they can break away from this primitive male chauvinist view that women belong at home. NO woman belongs at home, not Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Catholic, NONE of us – and the ones that do want to stay home, and be subservient to a male, should do so out of her own choice and not from fear.
5. Glad to see she's not in a burka.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (12.01.08)
I saw the funniest video on YouTube. It was a fashion show with the latest in fundamentalist fashion - not even the eyes showing, wearing sunglasses & gloves. The commentary was so hilarious I couldn't stop laughing. Sorry I don't remember the link. And in case anyone thinks I'm being racist, I would laugh just as hard if it was Haredi fashion for men.
6. Idiot minister
fadi   (12.01.08)
As far as I know, in urban Israeli Arab society (people living in Haifa, Jafa) it is generally accepted that a woman's place is doing a post graduate degree at a university and then working hard to make ends meet.
7. A babe like that and they wanna put her
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (12.01.08)
in a burka. What a shame
8. Terry and all, the link my be the Bill
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (12.01.08)
Maher spoof. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FhLZN2G81yk
9. Hopefully this MK who avoided the national anthem
redmike ,   tel aviv   (12.01.08)
will return to obscurity after the next elections. It's unclear to me why he was allowed to continue as a minister after avoiding the Israeli national anthem at the Olympics. Mike
10. #8 Joe - Thanks, that's the one.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (12.01.08)
Hilarious.
11. And your mens' role is to destroy it
Not a fan ,   of this shmuck   (12.01.08)
12. Stephanie Zakkak looks like a thin LaToya Jackson.
Brian ,   NYC USA   (12.01.08)
What kind of Israeli is named Stephanie, anyway? My sister-in-law is a high school teacher in Holon and she says that every year more of her students have Western names like Jennifer and Billy. Another example of Israelis borrowing the superficial junk from Western culture, but foregoing the stuff they should be taking, such as proper behavior and a decent educational system.
13. This is the moderate face of Islam?
Micha   (12.01.08)
get him out of that post...get him back in the home...that's where he belongs. Disgusting!!!!
14. To #1
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (12.01.08)
If you had ever had the unforgettable experience of my cooking, especially for holidays, your sense of humor on the entire subject of “Women in the Kitchen” would have turned into fear for your health and the last place you’d want to see me is anywhere near pots and pans. As to those 14 offspring, the thought that some of them might have inherited my talent and that you may have to depend on one of them in your old age is not exactly comforting, either. On the other hand, there are some wonderful benefits: You get invited to other people’s holiday dinners early so as not to give you the chance to invite them; your husband is familiar with every reasonably priced restaurant within 25 miles of where you live; he takes over all the grocery shopping, ends up knowing the exact micro times for prepackaged food and has every take-out place on speed dial. If I had good sense, I’d let it go at that and not mention that my husband died, after which I had to scrape the inside of that micro more often than I care to remember before I learned that you have to “vent” things and poke holes into eggs, chestnuts, potatoes, etc. I’m still trying to figure out why and when those grey lumps of shoe leather I pull out of there lose that connection to the nice hamburger patty I put in. I’m convinced that it wouldn’t take too many meals at my house before Minister Majadele would be the most tireless champion of whatever would keep women far away from the kitchen.
15. #6: Hmmm...Any chance of you going into politics?
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (12.01.08)
Consider yourself most welcome
16. #14 M. Hartley Hilarious!
Petra ,   USA   (12.01.08)
17. # 8 Joe thanks
Petra ,   usa   (12.01.08)
I needed that. Always wondered about what's hiding under those burkas. I hear somethime their big bad jihadists hide under the burkas. Real bad Johnny Jihads.
18. If only all Arabs...
Kev ,   London   (12.01.08)
If only all Arabs had the dignity of taking pride in their women's beauty.
19. Very funny, #14!!
Kev ,   London   (12.01.08)
20. Majdale does not like "majdele"?
trumpeldor ,   eurabia   (12.01.08)
Maybe pure air from aza might put him in a better mood! 2 more months to stand that islamist and good riddance !
21. #12 - what do you think of my children's names?
redmike ,   tel aviv   (12.01.08)
I have four children. Alan - Ilan Daniel - Daniel Julie - July Liza - Elisheva People in Israel can call them by their Israeli names and others can call them by their alternative names, Mike
22. It is not fair for one man to have all this beauty.
Asem ,   ME   (12.01.08)
23. 14 M. Hartley: Please switch to a toaster oven and stop
Rivkah   (12.01.08)
using the microwave oven. Microwaving puts free radicals into the food and it destroys the nutritional value of the food. I begged my girlfriend in Durango, Colorado, to stop microwaving food for herself and her family. This summer she learned she had bilateral metastatic ovarian cancer that had metastasized to the liver. A summer of chemo that made her so sick, the dose had to be cut in half, and then microsurgery to remove the tumors from her liver, convinces me I was right to warn her not to use a microwave oven. It does not take much more time to use a toaster oven for food that is simply put into dishes suitable for toaster overs from the frozen packages. I also think women enter beauty pagents to get scholarship money or find a husband who is better able to provide for them.
24. Disgusting...he should be asked to step down.
