1. ultra-Orthodox halachic extremism???
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (12.03.08)
Oh dear. How awful! Seems like allegiance to the Halacha and meticulous observance of its Laws is no longer a value among some "religious" Jews.
2. What do they know of halacha
Ephraim ,   NYC/Kfar Tapuach   (12.03.08)
These pork eaters dare judge rabbanim on psak halacha!
3. #1 You Are So Right & So Clever
David ,   Los Angeles   (12.03.08)
I guess all those "religious" Jews who don't share your value just won't be voting for your political party. You win again!!!
4. New Religious party?
Meira ,   Israel   (12.03.08)
Times have changed since our State was set up. We no longer need the services of a specifically religious party. What we desperately need is a robust and well-run educational system permeated by the core Jewish values. Personal morality, dignity and respect for the "other" and basic education for all so that we no longer see the disgrace of halachicly Jewish children with no idea of what Kosher really means, and no understanding of the public religious holidays other than a day off work.
5. Feminism has destroyed the family in the west
Oliver   (12.03.08)
...and left a weak burnt-out civilisation easy for the musulmen to take over.
6. There have been different halachic decisions
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (12.03.08)
Some are more conservative and some are more in tune with the sorrow people are going through. If this takes decision to a stricter direction, we will see more and more people becoming less and less religious as opposed to more religious. The suffering of agunot has to be addressed. And conversions have to be dealt with in a way that doesn't break the letter of the law (there are precedents for this) but manages to keep the spirit of the law.
