31. No rule of law
Joseph ,   Israel   (12.04.08)
First fact: The Jews in Peace house broke no laws. They refused to accept a government administrative order. They are not law breakers Second fact: The YSM stormtroopers were not wearing name tags. This is illegal and they are law breakers. Third fact: #11 you are right. Beating Jewish women is a lot better then fighting Hezbolla warriors or German hijackers.
32. Unnessary. Waste of money, waste of troops, waste of goodwil
rebecca ,   modiin   (12.04.08)
All this is doing is creating tension between Jews. It is totally unnecessary. No Kassams have been fired. The only people this house was putting in danger were the Arabs that regularly threw stones at it. But our government has to turn it into a major event - so they can ignore the Gaza / Setrot problem.
33. #7: Shame on you
nr ,   los angeles, usa   (12.04.08)
Justice - when the court didn't order them evacuated? The only reasons Jews are in Hebron is the same reason they are in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. You are a fool and on the wrong side of this issue!
34. Shame on Israel I will never ever support
Al   (12.04.08)
the state with one single dime. You are an outrage to the Jewsih people. Beating up Jewsih kids while the arabs smash you 24/.7 You run around like chicken littles when the arabs hand you your heads, yet when it comes to jewish kids you have balls. you are doomed and you dont even know it.
35. Labor today knocked the last nail in its coffin
Norman   (12.04.08)
Every one knows the timing is to get better ratings for itself. It will backfire Since regarding Noam Shalit nothing was done the kasams that were and are flyin in sderot nothing can be done. To the thousand of arab houses with out permits nothin is done. To a Jewish house that was bought and paid by jewish people here Barak has the courage to whip some Jewish boys. I can't wait for election day to see this wimp thrown out once and for all.
36. Good that Barak finally did something.
DkS ,   J'lem, IL   (12.04.08)
But as long as these extremist lunatics are allowed to remain in Hebron, nothing significant will change.
37. MORE EFFORT ON SETTLERS THAN ROCKETS & MORTARS
(12.04.08)
Yes indeed it is a very sad, polarizing day for Israel, where its government can exert more effort and determination in evicting settlers occupying a disputed property - than it can in response to the ongoing attacks on its citizens. The State so cares for its people and the "rule of law", that it can take round - after - round of missile, rocket and mortar fire on undisputed Israeli territory - where even a soldier gets his legs blown off and IT DOES NOTHING BUT TALK. Its absolutely pathetic.
38. Well done. The EU, UN, Arab League
Jamie ,   London   (12.04.08)
and other assorted jew haters are so pleased. Their hope that mentally deranged self hating jewish leadership would to anything to appease the outside world for "peace" and "respect" has worked. Soon they will demand the dismantlement of the rest of israel. AND THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT WILL GIVE THE OK TO THAT TOO!
39. #18 You're wrong
Aharon   (12.04.08)
"According to your mentalities you better start packing now because you both think that Israel is Palastine. " You're wrong. I think Israel is Israel. I think the Palestinian territories are disputed, and I think that it is against our strategic interests to maintain our control over them - thus I oppose our presence there. But this is all beyond the point - this particular issue is a matter of principle. I don't particularly agree with the court's ruling in this case, but that does not change the fact that it is binding law. If a murderer disagrees with the law forbidding murder, does that give him the right to kill people? Of course not. Law is law, even when it is controversial - and it must be respected and enforced, otherwise this country will just fall into total anarchy. Resorting to personal insults is not my style, though I can see I will be demonized by you and your ilk for holding what is an essentially rational position.
40. The only country on earth that expels Jews from their homes
Brian ,   NYC USA   (12.04.08)
is Israel. What a shameful distinction. There is absolutely no reason why any Jew should move to this place, or why Israel should be allowed to call itself the "Jewish State."
41. # 25 Some people can only Learn
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.04.08)
The hard way.The likes of #1 and #2 will only understand when they feel the cold steel of a moslem bayonet on the skin of their throats,as you correctly state they are living in a bubble cut off from harsh reality.70 years ago Zeev Jabotinsky toured Europe warning Jews of the imminent Nazi Holocaust...He was laughed at and ridiculed. The rest is history.
42. Al, as usual you get carried away
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (12.04.08)
Like you I am totaly against the misplaced use of the army in fighting over this disputed house. The army should be focused on Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas. Yet you go way overboard when you confuse our current lousy leaders, Barak and Olmert, with the whole State of Israel. On February 10th these bums will be voted out. Yet because you live in the diaspora you will not be able to even vote. You like to talk and critizise Israel in everyone of your emails. It will be interesting once we get a rightwing government if you continue with this negativity.
43. ISRAEL IS A GANSTER STATE, IDF A MERE HIT SQUAD
USA   (12.04.08)
OPERATED BY HITMEN. IDF DOES NOT FIGHT TERROR BUT IS NOW A HIT SQUAD.
44. hebron settlers called 'right-wing' six
elliot ,   usa   (12.04.08)
times in your report.does this make the idf 'left-wing'--arent they being evicted not for their political philosophy but their religion?calling them 'right-wing' today dehumanizes them and makes it o.k. to do so.where have we seen this before ?Does this make it ok to evict arabs just because they are arabs?if so what"s stopping you?
45. #26 RM
Joseph ,   Israel   (12.04.08)
Are you from Elrom? The Kibbutz on Ramat Hagolan that Olmert, Livni and Barak have declared is sacred to the Syrians? Will you ask what took so long when the police come to beat you?
46. dignity
Michael ,   Haifa   (12.04.08)
Barak has managed to salvage a little dignity, if not for himself, at least for those who still respect the rule of civil law in this country.
47. Dispicable Disregard for Jew's LEGAL ownership and rights
Jae ,   Lynn   (12.04.08)
The building had more documents proving owenrship than 99% of building purchases. We didnt video or tape record our home purchase. The government didnt make up a lot of bs to prevent the purchase of our home, ...but since these are Jews trying to live in an area that anti semties want to make free of Jews, the government has to intervene and bring the case to some court that will obey the government and not the legal sale of the house... Shalome House has 1) written documentation 2) audio proof of building's sale 3) video proof of building's sale this government has gone from incompetent (Lebanon war) and unprepared, to corrupt (Olmerts umpteen cases of bribery and corruption), to downright human rights abuses to their own citizens (10,000 missiles allowed on Sderot, 100's maimed, decapitated, traumatatized or killed. If germany allowed anti semties to do this to the jewish community wouldnt Israel be pissed? This governent has the faith of 3 people: olmert, and his radical left machsom watch wife and daughter living the high life somewhere in tel Aviv, while Jews are expelled from the cioty of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebeccah, etc Vote to transform the Likud (and Israel) from within: vote for Moshe Feiglin. The only voice that will bring Jewishness back to Israel instead of some "little wanna-be belgium".
48. Pogroms against Jews in Israel - this is truly a sad day
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (12.04.08)
49. #4 but disputed n disputed territory is not legible for sale
observer   (12.04.08)
50. Deeply felt condolences from Germany
Drs. D. Killus ,   Germany   (12.04.08)
to you brave inhabitants of peace house who were truthful to the divine calling till the end - which will not be the end because there is a righteous God who will act for his honour and yours. We are so very sad in Germany to see you suffer and continue all the more to pray for you.
51. Very good, but who is held accountable? (+responses: #1-48)
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.04.08)
Anyone arrested? And do taxpayers carry the burden of this lunacy? Responses: #1, 2*, 6, 8, 9, 10*, 17*, 22, 26, 36, 39*, 46: Agreed (*recommended) 3 for 3 for Aharon. #39 was brilliant and precise, everyone should read it. #11, 12, 13, 14, 33, 34, 44, 25,48: incoherent, irrelevant or unfounded #20, 24, 43: hateful crap #3, 18, 38: I'm not Arab (or a self-hating Jew) and I agree whole-heartedly with 1&2. To support this claim I'll happily admit that most Arab MKs should be thrown out of Kesset. Not because they're Arab, but because they are clearly anti-Israel. This however has no bearing on the criminal behaviour of these settlers. #4, 15, 47: absolutely irrelevant. It was a legal evacuation. #5, 19, 29, 30: Criticism of Barak is well-founded, but this case is not relevant. It was not his decision, but the court's. #7: I had the same thought at first, but then I agreed with the harshness of #2's position. This was court ordered and the resistance was criminal from day one. #16, 32,42: that's a very interesting point. In a way you're right, this should have been a very mundane evacuation. Politicians should stop coddling the settlers and simply let the police or army enforce the court rulings without much debate, while the politicians can get on with solving real problems. #21, 29, 35, 37: I agree that the state in Sderot and Ashkelon is a serious problem. I'd happily support an intense operation in Gaza, to find and kill every single terrorist. No arrests. No questions. Then freeze all suspicious bank accounts and use the money for aid, which is probably where the money came from in the first place. But in this case the settlers are wrong and they only make things worse. We must never be seen to provoke, only to react to violence. #23: ha #25, 41: I grasp the bigger issues. Radical Islam. Secular Anti-semitism. Nuclear threat. None of this however has anything to do with Hebron. #27: careful with your wording. The security forces were upholding court decision, nothing more. You clearly have an agenda in mind, not justice. #28: What did you expect? Fluffy gloves? #31: contradiction in first fact. #40: you raise a very complicated issue, you are right in some respects although completely wrong in this case.
52. barak is a coward. it can plan an attack
jason white ,   afula,israel   (12.04.08)
on a house with Jews, but not the full scale battle that would take place in gaza. We will suffer if there was a war with barak as d.m. As soon as possible he should be removed by the next government and never allowed to enter politics again. As for the cops, too bad you are afraid to make a war against organized crime. And the border patrol, just cossacks in green. They are always ready for a pogrom. Your days will be numbered with a new government. The border patrol should be disbanded permanently.
53. #47
Jane   (12.04.08)
And what's wrong with Belgium? There is no tradition in Belgium of evicting hundreds of thousands of indigenous people from their homes and herding them into refugee / concentration camps as happened to the Palestinians. And exactly how many people have been 'decapitated' by the home made rockets? Don't you mean Isreal is turning into a would be Croatia under the Usatse complete with ethnic cleansing, ghettos, theocracy, monotheism and a big, huge concentration camp in Gaza?
54. Judah my fellow Canadian Jew
Al   (12.04.08)
I go for the Habs, you're stuck on the Leafs. Here in Montreal we riot when we win a game in the playoffs. In Toronto they cruise Queen Street looking to hug a queen. I'm a Quebec Jew...a minority in a minority. I cant afford to take it on the chin...I'm not that nice. We're rough because we have to be. There is PC BS here amongst those of us who work for a living. When Israeli Politicos come knocking on our doors looking for a handout, you can bet your socks we'll have what to say. Schnorrer day is on Sunday (Dudi Kravitz) only these buggers like to don a 3 cent Yamulka, cruise into a synagogue on a shabbos, where they are out of place like the shiksa sitting near the Rabbi and talk in busted out English about Israel etc. You obviously never saw this dog and pony show. I have seen it many times. As a matter of fact the last bozo I took the time to see was Netanyahu in 2000. What a showman..nothing more nothing less. You live on the Golan, teacups to tea they will give away that piece in Jiffypop time. My point being that there is no leadership worth a damn in Israel today. You are all cooked as you obviously couldnt be bothered, as long as your 4 cubic amos arent disturbed. Having said that I am getting ready for the first snow storm of the season. Oil is in the furnace and the freezer is full. Have a nice day kido. Al
55. #51 Avi - "Mr Critique" :-)
(12.05.08)
My comment was #37. Although it was a court order - why was not a stay sought to delay until after the elections? Or was it? No appeal? Has the court determined who is the owner of the property? I heard not. Why the zeal to evict then? Cheers
56. #55 :-)
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.05.08)
By the same logic any laws disputed could be delayed till after the elections. It doesn't make sense. I think the real problem is not so much the ownership of the house, but the surrounding antagonism and violence. After all the government has tolerated even illegal settlements for years. What I find unpalatable is the mob that accumulates and the hopeless justifications and rationalisations of this mob. I have no problem with peaceful Zionists. I disagree, but it's tolerable. Lawlessness however is not. And lawlessness should be dealt with swiftly. If the property should rightfully belong to this family then after a legal battle it should be theirs. A tad idealistic I agree, but the alternative is anarchy. Now, after this mess, even if the property should be theirs, what are the chances that they will get it back? So the riots had precisely the opposite effect. Unless... and here's a crazy idea... perhaps all this hullabaloo was precisely the purpose of this purchase in the first place. I'm not sure what these theatrics are supposed to achieve, but it is a fact that they exist.
57. HE WILL REMEMBERED FOR TRICKING A RAV
ROLAND SEENER ,   LONDON ENGLAND   (12.05.08)
EHUD BARAK, MIGHT RECEIVE HIS REWARD IN THIS WORLD,BUT IN THE NEXT ? IT IS ANOTHER QUESTION.
58. "right wing activists"
Jpeditor ,   NYC USA   (12.05.08)
I lost count of how many times you slandered Jews as "right wing activists" - I did notice that you describe Arabs who shot at Border police as simply "... Palestinians opened fire at Border Guard forces stationed near the disputed Hebron house." I gues you think the "palistinians" will leave you alone after you helped them clean the Jews out of Yesha. How will know to leave you alone? Will you have some sort of ID? A yellow star? Perhaps a "kapo card"?
59. Bravo.
MariStella Sarfati ,   Rome, Italy   (12.06.08)
See...crazies on all sides. My cousin is in the IDF...he said...wait, I can not write what he said. Ebbe, maybe now they will behave themselves.
