I am from Argentina my wife is from Uruguay. We made Aliyah 14 years ago to Ashdod. My wife is a teacher in public school teaching math. I have doctorate degree in political economy. In 14 years I not able to get job in business or a university because there is no need for academics, so I work bad jobs in stores and supermarkets. But I have 4 kids and you can not survive on a teacher salary and a supermarket salary and live with dignity. So I had to return alone to Argentina and then luckily USA give me visa because I have education and now I live alone in NY and work for investment firm and send money to Israel to support my wife and children. This is what Israel is. It is special to live there yes of course but Israel is what it CHOOSE to be--and it choose to be place with old planned economy with no growth in most field and not enough jobs no matter who you are. My family religious, but for secular people they do not have to come and suffer or stay and suffer when the problems in Israel could be fix but nobody wants to stop living in welfare state.

Lighten up,life is but a dream in which to awake is to die...what a horrible thought.There will be times ,I promise ,when you will be glad and grateful you are here,and not in Mumbai for example,and there will be days when you think what the bloody hell am I doing here?As somebody told me here once: "It's never too late to correct a bad mistake" but then again he was a jerk and what the heck does he know?If all else fails,remember flights go both ways and you can always return,like many before have.Wishing you good health and good luck what ever you do,meanwhile...HANG TOUGH.

to leave switzerland for Israel... i would be convinced to suffer from a brain disease. I rather would enter a madhouse before moving to the "madhouse" of Israel

Israel exists, has existed for 3000 years and will exist for eternity - and Israel's Jewish population is growing by 1.5% a year WITHOUT Jewish Diaspora influx. So Israel is here to stay whereas the European countries' populations are getting older and older and fewer and fewer and fewer people in the work force have to provide more people with money in relation to per capita, so Europe's future ain't to bright which also goes with European brain capacity. Many European nations such as England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Portugal have millions of their brethren in their exiles in the USA, Canada, Latin America, Australia and New Zeeland and yet those European nations still exist despite the fact that there are more Spaniards, Portuguese, Italians, Englishmen, Scotsmen and Irishmen outside Europe than inside Europe. So people, chill, relax, do what you have to do - leave, come, live, die, fly, swim, walk, run, work, don't work, think , don't think - just live and relax. The sun doesn't rise and descend on Aliya's ass.

after serving 10 years in the IDF and then headed back to the states for 20,, came back to watch the want ads get thinner and thinner on a weekly basis then to hear this? In the whole world , at 52 , it's difficult to get a job , even with the best qualifiquations and experience you can have . No reason for "if i was'nt Jewish i'd be an antisemite myself" as you wrote .
