1. There is no civil authority in Lebanon now.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (12.06.08)
The events of the past few months in Lebanon have not worsened the situation, but merely reveal to all the current situation. Nasrallah simply did us all a favor by revealing to all that the Lebanese government is just one of several forces operating in Lebanon – and not the most important of them. It is now clear to everyone that Hizbullah is running a state within a state, and that the Seniora government is serving Hizbullah and Iran by giving them a cover of international legitimacy. That is why Hizbullah did not complete its takeover of Lebanon. More about Lebanon and Hizbullah at : http://xrl.us/bkivy

3. Syria is still present in Lebanon.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (12.06.08)
Syria has dominated Lebanese affairs for 30 years, and the West has joined Lebanese opponents of Syrian interference in Lebanese affairs in accusing Damascus of being behind the the 2005 assassination of anti-Syrian former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. The present Lebanese government that gives Hizbullah more power assures Syria that it still can influence affairs in Lebanon, with the naming of Michel Suleiman as president. He is close to Syria and was the Lebanese army chief for 10 years during the Syrian army’s control of the country. More about Syria at : http://xrl.us/bk2zc
