31. Some parents are racist
Elianah ,   Ramat HaSharon, IL   (12.08.08)
Some of the parents in the article are racist. However, the government has the right idea this time judging from the quote at the end of the article: "[These girls] have the right to attend Hagalil School, just as any other student living in the area. The parents' complaints are unjustified." So, welcome to these students. They'll learn the language fast. And maybe these children can teach the parents a thing or two about playing nice with others.
32. Arabs students
Peace Lover ,   England   (12.08.08)
This message is not a daft leftist idea but an absolute truth. To all jewish parents: Try to see the broader picture, The more you integrate arabs kids the more you can fight terrorism and hatred. Arabs are your naighbours weither you like it or not.. Teacher have to be vigilants with those kids and help them to improve their Hebrew and to integrate with the other Jewish boys and enough hatred please. Thanks
33. #28 If that were true
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.08.08)
Then admission would be by examination, not by race. The problem is not that children come without prior knowledge, but that teachers do not have the skill to provide them with the proper knowledge. The weakening education system has nothing to do with integration.
34. #18. If two jews ever get denied from
Jel ,   London   (12.08.08)
Going to school in an Arab country, then I'll agree. However, considering there are no jews allowed into arab countries let alone living in them, I'll have say your statement is pointless.
35. Schools should not be segregated..
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (12.08.08)
Integration should be a welcomed by Everybody. This is where tolerence and coexitance is instelled in thouse kids who are the future of the country.. For a better Israel, we need to make sure that the children of those racist parents do not grow to become like them. it is WRONG to hate people because of the color of thier skin or their ethnithity...
36. #34 silly argument
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.08.08)
You cannot make the comparison. Those Arab countries are not what we aspire to. In the west we would be outraged if children were not admitted to some school because they were Jewish. Naturally I find it ridiculous that some countries don't allow Jews, but that's a completely different issue.
37. Amazing Idea
temoni prince ,   matawan , NJ   (12.08.08)
i beilive that this is the onyl way to get israel it some sort of peace. the kids do nothing wrong and once the kids see that there is nothing worng with israleis i think it will be better.
38. I dont think most people read all details. Title misleading
David ,   Boston, USA   (12.08.08)
I'd like more details about the school over the past few years, but if I am reading this correctly, the school had to integrate several "African kids". Does that mean refugees from Sudan who speak no Hebrew? Now they want to add Arabs who speak no Hebrew or little, I assume. I think the question is spending more time bringing more students up to the same level of education will hurt the current students learning. This is not an issue of integration but resources. They need to balance individual learning requirements with majority learning requirements. This is common in all education, not just there, not just in Israel. Anyway, thats what I get from this poorly written article, which sounds like it was written to make it sound racist rather than presenting the facts and trying to help. So if I understand the problem correctly Shame on you YNET for trying to make it something it isnt.
39. 2 Arab students...
rachel ,   Hadera, Israel   (12.08.08)
I am a mother of 3 children studing in an elementary school here in Hadera- All of my children are in the top of their class. In each of their classes there are Ethiopian students, as well as a few Arab students in the school. In no way have these children hindered the level of learning in my children's classes. The parents voicing such strong adversion to integrating minority students into their school should be ashamed. Learning begins in the home with compassion and tolerance. Furthermeore, in today's world, in order to insure an excellent education for your children,as parents we must be willing to take an active role in their studies. Relying solely on the education system is a mistake.
