The state should decline to fund them. Money isn't free. It comes with a price tag - in this case oversight. If they don't want to pay that price they don't want the money. Its that simple. And, while the government is at it, maybe they can decline to leave the Tal Law in place as well.

Avi, Love the ad hominem attack on the "those parasites". You managed to be both hateful and off the point totally Really great work. Actually I believe the point of the article was that they should NOT take money. But hey they are all parasites so who knows right? :)

So let's see if I get this right. The Ultras don't accept Israel but accept her money and get upset when they feel Israelis are interefering with their right to teach anti-Israel propaganda to students who grow up to live off of the Israeli public support system because they have so few marketable skills. Perfectly understandable. .
34. State level standardized education for all
H.H.M. ,   Israel / Jerusalem   (12.12.08)
State level standardized education for all The Haredi Community anti-Zionist factions, demonstrating in Jerusalem are trying to dissolve the sovereignty of the state, by public banners displayed “…say no to the heretical government's budgets, which bring a catastrophe on haredi education…” In a Ultra Orthodox Haredi Community’s large demonstration one of their leaders, Rabbi Avraham Freuilich “….claimed that all ultra-Orthodox institutions have been "sold off" to full supervision by the Education Ministry. "It's unacceptable to have the Education Ministry transform yeshiva students into its own students and to strictly supervise student admission, budgeting and the employment of educating rabbis….” he vocally expresses the consence of this community of several tens of thousands followers in Israel’s, who try to disengage themselves from major acts / parts of the State of Israel’s sovereignty. These followers / members of Ultra Orthodox Haredi Community must be reminded of their Israeli citizenship / residence which caries duties and rights as clearly express in Israel’s State Laws as the sole state authority. - A n d t h i s f o r b e t t e r o r f o r w o r s e The past handling by the State of Israel and its approach of a special treatment for these followers of this particular religious trend has shown itself completely unjustifiable / illegal leading to a practically state in the state in contravention to worldwide recognized state sovereignty. These has / must be realize as a historical mistake caused by misinterpretation of freedom on all levels for its citizens. - Citizen including residence within State of Israel’s jurisdiction have to fulfil / obey their duties including all laws of the state and consequently enjoy all freedoms like of speech, believe, religion, expression etc. including the states social, security, educational and other services. - People like Rabbi Freuilich seem to adhered to the principle “ t o e a t t h e c a k e a n d h a v e i t t o “ by advocating / demanding a completely separate the Ultra Orthodox Haredi Communities education system independent from the state including i.a their State Funds for education, has per his argumentation of a “… catastrophe of haredi education…”. – In the Jewish State of Israel all citizens / inhabitants are equal before its State Laws this includes their freedom in religious believes which enjoy practising personal freedom within these parameters, which under no circumstances supersede the laws of the state! - Clearly, the country’s education and its e q u a l l e d common basis for all citizens inhabitants is a clear, u n d i v i d a b l e state duty preserving e q u a l o p p o r t u n i t i e s for all. Consequently by completely following the laws of the state can even these Ultra Orthodox Haredi Community’s “ needs “ can be fulfilled by adding their special religious educational needs on a purely personal / community / private level thus teaching their offspring’s additional, religious values. - To express this in plain language, your family / community educational authority is limited to your homestead / family / community circle after fulfilling your duties to the state. This should ensure your possibly special religious needs.

Were you forced to immigrate to Israel? Did YOU decide to make aliyah? If the decisions were yours and yours alone; then YOU owe it to your new home to support her in all ways necessary. Your post Daniel indicates quite clearly that you believe somebody should support you because you immigrated. Funny, my daughter made aliyah 23 years ago and she has had to learn the language and work to support herself. No rich Americans supported her and the Israeli government certainly didn't support her either. Schnorrers still believe they have the right to demand someone else wipe their noses. Israel would be better off if those schnorrers would stay where-ever they came from. The Torah doesn't give anyone a free ride.
