Excues me but I thought a ceasefire is a total stopping of rocketing and firing on the enemy,atleast that is what it says not only in the dictionary but that was the norm in all previous wars in the past. This situation in Gaza is not a cease fire, a lull perhaps, but when Quassams are fired into Sderot/Ashkelon every few hours it is no cease fire by every defination of the word. The Terrorists in Gaza never adhered to thecease fire so act to protect Sderot Ashkelon residents IDF you have the right to defend the citizens!

The concept of defeating ones enemies has disappeared from the thinking of Israel's leaders .They have embraced suicidal moves for no peace along with appeasment and retreat and can only defeat a few Jewish homeowners in Hebron. With Kadima in power any action against Hamas in Gaza will be restrained and lmited and of no lasting good. The concept of victory no longer applies to the defeatists of Kadima, Labor and even Likud.

The IDF can prepare a plan for a successful Gaza op if they are allowed time to prepare and they have clear goals and objectives of what they want to do in Gaza and what they will do when they pull out afterwards. What Livni has in mind is an election stunt to proove she it tougher on terror than Bibi who is trusted more on security matters. Lebanon was lost because it was a spur of the moment war made by Olmert who at the time still thought he could be as tough as Sharon. The result was the IDF was sent in with no goals or objectives and then we were humiliated for this unplanned war, Olmert came running out tail between his head and went from being a man who wanted to be able to be strong like Sharon so he decided to change his policies to if I don't have what it takes to fight terror then I will create my own identity as somebody who surrenders to terror. I believe that a Jenin style ground operation is the only way to practicly do anything about the continuous attacks coming from Gaza but any operation must be well planned and not carried out to try help a would be PM win an election.

Roxy In hebrew ceasefire means a total stopping of any form of military action and complete surrender by ONLY Israel while the other side is ENTITLED to carry on firing rockets at Israel. The IDF`today is an excuse for governments to spend lots of taxpayer money on fancy toys which we can use to tell our enemies look how big and tough we are and then let it all rust away never being used for anything and then we wave the white flag at the first sign of confrontation with anybody. Isn't it time we got rid of the star and the blue bars so we can have a flag thats more appropriate as a symbol of Israel what Israel has come to stand for in the 21st century .. a nice simple WHITE FLAG. The days when this country was one to be feared and put the interests of its own people above all others are long dead the fact that the left have are the dominant politcl force in general now days and that even the right wing have become centerist is proof of that.
