1. "Meretz has shown what democracy is all about
This has to be a sick joke you pick a thousand party brokers to vote and call it democracy?
If this is what Meretz calls democracy then they are more delusional then I thought.

Meertez candidates are all the same .. far left.
It doesn't matter how high the turn out at the primary thats not going to translate into seats at electon time its going to be single figures for them.
Glad they had fun though it makes them feel like they are a party of government but even Livni unless she is desperate wont invite Meeretz into her coalition.

Polls open to a selected group is democracy. It seems more like slanted stats to me.

Why does the press give Meretz so much coverage?
I think that if I formed a "martian alien party" it would get more than 871 votes.

A sad state of affairs when the party that should be there to defend the people isn't.
Yes, Meretz is showing what democracy is all about. They are getting themselves voted out of the Knesset. The are getting themselves voted out of having any significant influence in Israel.
Why? Because instead of concentrating on all the social issues that concern Israelis, Meretz chose to worship the golden calf of the failed Oslo peace process.
According to Meretz, the number one issue facing Israel is that we have to give the Palestinians the entire West Bank and let them have an independent state, and we'll magically have peace.
Well, after the Gaza failure, Israelis know that the Palestinians want Tel Aviv too, and fewer and fewer Israelis still have their head stuck in the sand about the peace process.

I don't get the criticism.
Ilan Gilon is an excellent parliamentarian who mainly deals with social issues. He is a credit to the Knesset.
As for the rest of the list, of course it is extreme Left. Meretz, like the Likud, picked the people its voters want. The difference is that Meretz does not have a Netanyahu to ruin the list.

I thought Meretz WAS the Martian Aliens Party.
I must have them confused with the Flat Earth Society.
You know, their ideas are so similar, it's hard to keep it straight.
