2. Give your children a good life. Go to USA.

Don't subject yourself to the racism of the Ashkenazim and the anti-religious elements in Israeli society. And for the love of G-d, don't let your children become rude, pushy, disrespectful, ignorant Israelis! Your kids won't "assimilate" in the diaspora if you raise them with faith and values. Orthodox Jews here don't intermarry, despite what self-serving Israeli interests would have you believe.

being in Palestine for 60 old+ 60 new years doesn't match being home for a 2000+ continuous years in Yemen.
5. observer: 8x/day we pray to return to our land, the land of

Israel. I understand youre an observer, and I respect that a lot- observing life rather than dominating it all the time is a wonderful process. That said Palestine is a word of occupation and oppression- enforced by the Roamn Empire of the Jews. It is really Judea (where the word Jew comes from), Samaria, etc- ie the entire land of Israel. So were you to ask them their ultimate home as Jews, the answer any traditional Jew would give you is the land of Israel. Im assuming you said what you said simply because you didnt know these things. Go in Peace.

7. #4, "Continuous". Continue to believe your own lies
Jake   (12.17.08)
Let me let you in on a little secret. Contrary to what you might think, in almost every place in the Middle East, Jews were not able to live a continuous uninterrupted existence in one place for 2000 years, thanks to the tender ministrations of Islamic civilization. Only in some very remote corners, like the the mountains of Kurdistan, did Jews manage to carry on unmolested, and continued to speak Aramaic. Elsewhere, there were many interruptions. Middle Eastern Jewish communities were bounced around, forcibly converted, and outright slaughtered on many occasions. Another thing, is that Jews in the diaspora knew where their homeland was for 2000 years and always prayed to Jerusalem for an imminent return to their homeland from exile. As for "Palestine", 100 years ago Arabs had never even heard of it, much less pronounce it. Presto, suddenly they have a history of Arab Palestine stretching back to the Paleolithic era, in the span of 40 years.

9. #6 Israel is the homeland of...Israelis.
Proud Galut Jew ,   Australia   (12.17.08)
When the Kingdom of Israel is re-established, then it'll be home to all Jews. Until then, it's just Israel, the Israeli homeland, and unless you currently live in Russia or something, there's no good reason to live there. Moving to Israel gives you neither safety nor prosperity nor an escape from antisemitism nor an opportunity to be religious or secular without someone despising you. Unless you feel the need to be surrounded by only Jewish people for some reason, there's no reason to give up a nice life to live there.
10. Are they allowed to leave?

Israel is THE MOST DANGEROUS place for a Jew. You have no greater chance of getting killed as a Jew by an Islamic terrorist--or an underworld mafioso for that matter--than in Israel. I, on the other hand, lives in a country that protects its people Sorry Judah, not every disapora country is France or Nazi Germany. Jews in Israel are not "safe" from anything, unless you believe, as most of you seem to, that another Holocaust is about to take place at any given time. But the thing is, if there is another Holocaust, it's going to be in Israel when the Iranian bomb gets dropped on your heads. So, how exactly am I safe because of Israel?

The Mossad has been quite for a while (or at least they seem quite) how about a couple of discussions with a few Muslim fanatics in Rida. You know the type of discussion The next time somethings happens to a Jew we'll be back to explain on a very sever basis that it should not have happened. Just a thought.

16. #13, you misread #12
Jake   (12.18.08)
He did not say Israel is the safest place for a Jew. He said the safety of Jews in the diaspora is thanks to Israel. This might not be 100% the case. But thanks to Israel, some of the people and nations who would do us harm have heard of the phenomenon of the fighting Jew and now think twice. And USA does not represent every country of the diaspora!
17. #7 Saladin invited them to return.
observer   (12.18.08)
it was the European Crusaders who slaughtered the Jews (as well as Muslims, of course) in Jerusalem, and it was Saladin who invited them to return. But most Jews had no intention of living in Jerusalem. It was a religious and spiritual centre, not a "homeland". The communities felt "at home" in villages, towns and cities throughout the Islamic world.

19. #16 "the fighting Jew?"
Jewish Jake ,   Canada   (12.18.08)
I've never heard of a "fighting Jew" since the last time an Israeli soldier successfully anything was in the early 1980s--though we say how that turned out in the early 2000s. Israel doesn't defend itself at all these days, so I'm not sure that anyone is intimidated by the "fighting Jew." This isn't 1967; now they can't even beat Hezbollah.
20. #16, #18: No, I misread nothing.
Jared ,   New York, USA   (12.18.08)
Saying that "the ONLY reason you are safe is due to Israel" must imply that this is because Jews can go to Israel as a refuge. Except while it may be a refuge from, well, something, it's absolutely NOT a safe place for a Jew. This was a reasonable interpretation of the comment since there is no other way that Israel makes us safe. Why? Because nobody hesitates to do something to Jews just because Israel has an army, since it's an army which can't win a war against Hezbollah goons, does nothing to defend itself against daily mortar and rocket attacks, and generally has no credibility as a deterrent or a first-world fighting force anymore (the Air Force excepted).
21. #17 Speaking for us are you??
Middle Eastern Jew   (12.19.08)
Who gives you the right to say if we feel at home or not? The countires we lived in were pit stops. Amusingly enough, many of us lived in those countries before ethnic Arabs ever left their deserts and Islam was concieved. Your lies fly well with the ignorant but not with the learned. Quit the lies. What #7 is right on. Speaking of crusaders, under the british you willingly harassed Jewish communities left and right. Today you're the agents of the modern crusader's. So stop crying about crusaders when today you act and behave in every manner like them. Do us middle eastern Jews one big big favor, stop speaking for us.
22. observer, #17, what are you talking about?
Jake   (12.20.08)
It is true that the Crusaders slaughtered the Jews and Moslems of Jerusalem in 1099. However, later under Crusader rule, in 1065, Benjamin of Tudela wrote that there were 200 Jews living in Jerusalem (though no synagogue), near the Tower of David. This was 22 years before the capture of Jerusalem by Salah-ad-din. It seems unlikely that Salah-ad-din really made it possible for Jews to move there in any significant numbers. How do I know this? Because when Nachmanides came to Jerusalem in 1267, under Mameluke rule, there were only 10 Jews who held services in private homes, and still no synagogue. He established the first synagogue in Jerusalem in centuries, and Jews started returning to Jerusalem. You say that Jews did not view Jerusalem as a homeland to move to, but as a spiritual center only, but this is not true. When Victorian England established a sphere of influence in Jerusalem in the middle of the 19th century, Jews came to the city in droves. By 1860, they were the majority again.
