Before finally being accepted to a civil service position here, I had to score highly on an exam - high enough not only against others competing for the same job, but against those given extra "points" as veterans. Yes, I do support preferences for those who have served. Fixing the system at the *top* is also critical. When it's clear one needn't have expertise relevant to the ministry to become its head, those down the chain take note.

Banks and other lending institutions like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were FORCED to lend home loans and give credit cards and other loans to minorities who could not qualify for loans under normal standards set up to protect the banks. When the mostly minority homeowners defaulted on countless loans because they did not have a sense of integrity about paying what they owed or they could not afford the adjustable rate mortgages they should not have been granted in the first place, they walked away and the banks and mortgage companies started folding. Affirmative action laws have caused so many workplace problems as minorities take over hiring positions and stop hiring the hated White who helped them to get to where they are with their tax dollars. Look at any US military base commissary and exchange and see if you can find a White person working there or more than a few if a minority is in charge of hiring.

Given that Tibi and so many Arab MKs are openly anti-Israel and given the support in the Galilee Arab areas for the violent rioters of September 2000 and the extremist Islamic northern branch why should Mazuz be eager to press for affirmative action without demanding a reciprocal affirmation of Israel's legitimacy from the Arab sector's representatives? In principle I'd like to see Arabs integrate themselves into Israeli society but it is they, except for the Beduin and Druse, who refuse to do basic service for the defense of the State. Yet they demand full integration. Again we should bring more Arabs into public positions but like the anti-Zionist Haredi groups they should be required to affirm their full support for a Jewish state. Otherwise we have the contradiction of people who do not want the State of Israel to exist demanding to be 'integrated' - how could such integration work unless they fully accept the State? This question needs to be put to Tibi et al publicly and constantly. Let us see their response.
