1. Edward Gelfond is evil
Talula ,   Israel   (12.18.08)
The driver sustained light wounds. The bus's tachograph was missing. The driver had 22 previous convictions. And 25 people that put their lives in his hands are dead. It's beyond disgusting. The murderous bastard should be locked up for good.
2. Talulah: Is evil the right word.
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (12.18.08)
I use the word evil selectively for the likes of Eichman and Hitler. Gelfond was imbecile, reckless, volatile and egocentric but he isn't evil. However, that does not lessen the magnitude of his crimes. He should be tried for murder not manslaughter, however he should not go down alone. He was guilty of driving the bus, but the bus company did put him behind the wheel knowing his record. Whoever hired him is as guilty as he is and should be tried for murder.
3. #2 I think yes it is
Talula ,   Israel   (12.18.08)
Anyone who accepts a job where people put their lives in their hands then murder them, is, well evil. Maybe it was not premeditated murder, but 25 people are dead and 25 families lives are ruined. He's not the only one to blame. Someone gave him back his licence TWENTY TWO times after driving convictions. They are also to blame. It's so terribly sad. And HE walks away from it all.

As the second driver saw he was being overtaken approaching a sharp curve he could have slowed down which oviously he did not, He should also be under arrest and the manager of the company for not having the tachograph connected
5. bus driver/s

Don't you think, Madame, that before you decide that the "driver is evil... and the murderous bastard should be locked up for good." - that you should let the judge and jury do their work. Seems to me that you appear to have great inner knowledge of this tragic accident, otherwise you would not display such strong opinions, which people might just mistake for the ignorant rantings .
7. re Talula (#1, #3): car accident is no murder
Tobias   (12.18.08)
Talula, you describe the driver as "evil" and as a "murderer", which means that you claim that he crashed the bus and killed his passengers ON PURPOSE. How do you support such a claim? As far as we know from the news so far, he is a bad, dangerous and reckless driver - like there are many on every road in Israel - but that doesn't make him a murderer or terrorist. If you call every dangerouly reckless driver a "murderer", then the Israeli car drivers are the biggest terrorist force in the Middle East ... Somebody suggested that he shouldn't have had still a driving license, after having been convicted of traffic offenses. Well, if every conviction of traffic offenses would lead to the permanent loss of the driving license, this would be a very huge improvement of the safety in Israel, more than any anti-terror or anti-crime program could ever achieve --- because after a while, there would be less car drivers in Israel than 30 years ago .... but of course there would also be a huge need for much more bus drivers, sherut drivers and taxi drivers, to transport all the people who lost their license...

Nobody said that someone comitting a driving offence should loose his/her licence . What about a point system ? You loose 1, 2 or 3 points with a small ,or more with a big offence . But for a bus driver , 22 offences , is'nt this much to much to continue to drive ? Yes , sometimes you can equal a driver with a murderer . Not intentionally , but , let's say , killing a person because of excessive speed , not respecting a "stop" or red light , driving while drunk , what is this for you ? not murder ?
