1. Whats going on back there in Israel?
Yunan ,   New York   (12.19.08)
Boy, Israel is moving backwards fast.
2. FAA holds the patent on incompetence and risk
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (12.20.08)
Sounds like the green-eyed monster is rearing it's ugly head. A bazillion bureaucrats pushing papers and spraying like dogs in heat can't hold a candle to Israel's sixth sense and relatively unblemished record.
3. This is only the begining
(12.20.08)
Seams no blind support anymore ... good sign mr. Obama
4. Send him to Singapor as an IAF instructor
Edithann ,   USA   (12.20.08)
Send him to Singapor..they need pilots, there as they need Israeli teachers... Poor saps.. TATA
5. Is America an authority figure for the entire world?
Tahl ,   Israel   (12.20.08)
This news story cetainly puts her in this light. Funny how America always dictates standards for the entire world.
6. never
m ,   jerusalem   (12.20.08)
i personally would never fly el al or any other israeli jet liner due to the overwhelming security its more of a hassle than anything, considering lots of people think the way i do , it means less profits for the airlines, forcing them to cutback on a lot of the safety issues. so until they start treating people like human beings like other airlines do, im not surprised if all israeli airlines end up bust
7. It's time Mofaz was made to realize he's transport minister
Bruno ,   Haifa   (12.20.08)
This is happening on his watch. Instead of playing policeman - see his ridiculous nonsense after the tragic accident near Eilat - he should be dealing with preventing the next aviation disaster.
8. Alas!
Moshe ,   tel aviv   (12.20.08)
We are becomming worse than a third world country.
9. 3: Let's talk the next time a blond girl is strip-searched
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (12.20.08)
in Detroit, while Bin Laden's buddies slip by because their "number" isn't up. Oh, why that would be now.
10. #2 and #4 take a chill pill
Steve   (12.20.08)
As an ex pilot I can tell you unequivocally that this rating has nothing to do with politics. It is an impartial standard imposed on all international carriers. The FAA is one of the most efficiently run agencies, and although not perfect they are responsible for the world's busiest if not safest aviation systems. Support of Israel does not have to be at the expense of common sense. This decision is only valid in U.S. airspace and yes the US should be able to dictate safety standards within it's borders.
11. #10 - Did not say "politics"
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (12.20.08)
But please do enlighten us as to the relative % of crashes, highjackings, and other "technical problems" (including resulting in effectively holding fliers hostage) and debilitating security threats El Al has had compared to US carriers. As a frequent flier, I really don't care what an industry rep says - WE see and feel the reality and the unacceptable failures of the FAA, who prefers to punish citizens to cover up their blunders.
12. Displaed Anger
True Zionist ,   Tel Aviv   (12.20.08)
Looking at the responses to these articles, its quite comical the level of accusations leveled ranging from Obama's desire to complicate Israel's situation, to politics affecting Israel's international standing. Guessing that YNET is largely read by non-Israeli diaspora pseudo Zionists that see Israel in only the holiest light, perhaps it might be valuable to point out a central issue to Israel's falling Aviation rankings. This ranking has nothing to do with politics or the security of its airport/flight operations in regards to asymmetrical terrorist/crime threats. No one questions Israel's handing of internal security threats. This falling ranking is based on Israel's 3rd world safety and regulatory operations in regards to airport flights, air traffic control, and common aviation standards (NOT SECURITY--LEARN TO READ). Under Shaul Mofaz's infantile handling of transportation, (perhaps he should return to the IDF where he actually knows what he is doing) airport safety issues have been neglected and allowed to deteriorate. Ultimately, for future instances, perhaps it might be better than assuming any negative issue in regards to Israel is the cause of some external evil maker, that Israel too makes mistakes and plenty of them. For those who haven't lived in Israel, it is a mistake to constantly look at any criticism of Israel as an attack given the level of Israeli' incompetence. By the way...a 10 Day Birthright trip does not qualify one to count themselves as an expert on "Israeli Affairs" so quit sounding stupid and screaming murder when Israel's blunders are exposed.
13. Israel aviation rating.
Barry ,   London   (12.21.08)
I hope the America's aviation quality control is a better standard than their financial sectors, before they start to point fingers!
14. Once Again
True Israeli ,   Jerusalem   (12.21.08)
Once again, the responses to this article indicate that the average YNET reader is no better than the followers of the National Enquirer and other tabloids Perhaps each of these articles should have other associated articles such as Obama gives birth to Alien Child and Tom Cruise is really a walking robot whose brother is Allah.
