1. More concerning is lack of int'l media coverage of terror
Tahl ,   Israel   (12.21.08)
Foreign news agencies fail to report the daily attacks of Kassams on Sderot and Ashkelon, yet generously report each and every operation of the IDF in Gaza, especially when Palestinians die, no matter if they're terrorist or not. On one memorable incident, a news anchor for one American TV station simply said that Kassams don't bring out the rating. We must realize that the real battle is fought not only in firearms, but more importantly on the international media front. And even if we'll put more attention to terror in our media, this wouldn't change the international media snubbing these news. In this important battle, we do not have the upper hand.
2. Springtime for Hamas
Gideon Reader   (12.21.08)
The Actors, the Director, Costume Designer, Stage Director and Writers were all Hamasnikim. The "Angels" were Iranian Pasdaran paymasters, but the Producers; the Producers were Israel's current government du jour, sort of led, kind of attended to by the ruling Kadima Party and it's Labor enabelers. The most incompetent and vile casting for the parts of Bialystok & Bloom to date. It is VERY difficult to confront grand scale schoolyard bullies when your baytzim are scrambled, rather than hard boiled. Vote for us. Were timid. If that's OK, with everybody?
3. It's also not going to work

You cried wolf, lied too many times. Don't except that the world is going to believe you anymore.
5. Excellent Article

My deepest condolences for your loss. You have written a brave and objective article with commendable skill, and one that is correct. I would add: to fight AND defeat these terrorists, we will have to actually go to war. To win this war, we will have to kill our enemies and not stop until they are all dead or surrendered. To win, we will have to go all the way and be more skilled than our enemy at killing. No mercy. This is the harsh reality. We will never be the same afterward, but we will have peace. Maybe our children will be able to grow up without war, once we crush the enemy. Maybe our children will have an innocence, even though we have to become dealers of death. At least, when we win, we will be able to discuss this with our children, rather than being slaughtered ourselves. To win war, we must become war. We must defeat these murderers; and we have to become brutal and merciless to do it. It's not our wish, but they asked for it. To survive, we must destroy them. This is not a perfect world. There is no other answer. May God grant us the courage and strength of will as that of Joshua, Caleb and Gideon.
6. Hypocrisy
Jo   (12.21.08)
"Journalists and editors, do your job. Report all current events, however heart-wrenching they may be." Pass the bucket please. We all know that the real heart wrenching events are happening on the other side of the prison fence in Gaza, your media does qa good job of hiding these facts. The handy work of "your Children" in bringing about a humanitarian disaster and a human rights outrage is a chain of shame that the whole world must carry around it's neck. Your hatred of the Palestinians and your desire to visit new horors on them is fuel for Hamas future.
7. What I cant understand
Leah ,   Israel   (12.21.08)
why we are not doing anything to rid ourselves of this evil that the kadima government created by disengaging from Gaza and allowing this evil force, Hamas, take over. The only way to fight evil is with determination and strength. Take the F15s and wipe the forces of darkness, try to be like the forces of light that wiped out the Greeks. It is Chanuka, remember.
8. Gilad Shalit and all of us are victims of Israeli militarism
Naftali Lavie   (12.21.08)
IDF Armoured Corps Corporal Gilad Shalit wants to return to his family. So do 11,000 Palestinian prisoners. Some of the Palestinian prisoners are resistance fighters. Some are political activists, political leaders, and elected parliamentarians. Some are sick or elderly. Some are women. Some are children. All are prisoners. All miss their families. Israel has rejected all of Hamas' proposals for prisoner exchange. Israeli intransigence and militarism victimizes us all.
9. The ham-ass rally should have been bombed
jason white ,   afula,israel   (12.21.08)
by the I.A.F. We should start to exterminate the pali prisoners by the thousands till Gilad is returned safe and sound. There is nothing wrong with killing palis.
10. It's interesting
m   (12.21.08)
to see all the sickos that crawl out from their holes to spew their venom on Mrs. Roth's articles. This is not the first article written by her that I see this phenomenon, letters upon letters full of hatred, or self hatred like the Jew Lavie towards a mother who lost her young daughter to terror.
12. Agreed, #10
Cameron ,   USA   (12.22.08)
The Left has slowly transformed into a beast that looks more & more irrationa,l and self-destructive, by the day. Have spent many a year studying political theory and foreign affairs, and I find myself at a loss to either intellectually understand, or emotionally sympathize, with a great deal of the "progressive" mindset. They have become a troubling mystery beyond logic.
14. Some would love to hide terrorist attacks.
Matt C ,   Canada   (12.22.08)
For some "progressives", terrorism is extremely embarrassing because they feel it undermines their ideology. I have often seen such people in the mainstream media try to downplay terrorism or hide its existence when they can get away with it. For example: -by calling terrorists a neutral term like "gunmen", -by drawing false moral equivalency where they can (after the Mumbai attacks some news agencies insisted on claiming that bombing attacks were also committed by "Hindu extremists", even though that was completely off topic and the only two attacks that had ever supposedly happened were unproven, compared to uncountable numbers of PROVEN attacks committed by Muslim radicals), -by using the term "moderate" on groups that clearly don't deserve it, -attacking those who are honest about Islamic extremism as "far-right" or "racist" (even when they are only quoting mainstream sources or the extremists themselves to raise awareness), -by reminding people that such-and-such extremist group only exists because of the "poverty" of their people (which ignores the many well-off extremists, draws false moral equivalency with the suffering of the victims and implies that the extremism is somehow justified), -by not mentioning attacks at all when they think they can get away with it, -and with many other techniques. Of course, I do not know why Guy Bechor and Ephraim Halevi support censoring information on extremism, they probably have very different reasons for doing so, but some people in the media clearly have a malicious, political reason for this censorship and that needs to be said.
