1. BS from the man when PM gave HEBRON to the PLO!
GET REAL ,   USA   (12.22.08)
Netanyahu proved himself a fraud when he was PM and now has shown himself a little dictator by violating the vote of LIKUD by having his gang remove MOSHE FAGLIN from his elected 20 position!
2. Who Can Believe Them Any More?
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (12.22.08)
Go on play mind games with the Syrian enemy and keep provoking them and winding them up instead of just letting sleeping dogs lie...
3. Lets hope that Bibi is telling the truth
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (12.22.08)
One thing for sure is that a vote for Meretz, Labour or Kadima definetely would mean the loss of the Golan. We need to hope that Likud will join with Lieberman's party and the smaller right wing parties. That should add up to close to 50 seats. Then by buying off the Sephardic Ultra-Orthodox party(Shas) and the Ashkenazi Ultra -Orthodox parties that can add another 15 votes. With those 65 votes Netanyahu can form a right wing government and keep the Golan. Now if Bibi decides to form a coalition with Kadima, Labour and Shas this would be disasterous.
4. TO NETANYAHU, LIKUD MEMBERS AND S. BAR-LEV.
FO ,   Belgium   (12.22.08)
Gentlemen, the Golan Heights should not be kept only because it is a strategic asset. THE GOLAN HEIGHTS, GENTLEMEN, NEVER BELONGED TO SYRIA ! The PALESTINE MANDATE confirmed by the LEAGUE OF NATIONS in 1922, encompassed the Golan within its borders. The Golan Heights were illegally given away by Britain, the Mandatory of Palestine, to France, the Mandatory of Syria, by breaching, in a scandalous way Article 5 of the League's resolutions. This territorial transfer was made surreptitously in a capricious and arbitrary fashion by the British whose sole interest was to secure Mosul's oil fields to Irak. A Mandate is a Trust, according to ART. 80 of the UN Charter. Israel's decision to impose its Laws on the Golan Heights on December 14, 1981, had eventually RIGHTED the WRONG that was committed by the British in March 1923. Syria cannot make a standing claim in an International Court of Law, as Syria was not an Independent Country, but was in its formative years under the French Mandate. The "Golan Heights" as they are known TODAY, were never part of Syrian Real Estate, but part of the Palestine Mandate. Excerpts from a SPECIAL REPORT, prepared for the U.S. CENTER FOR SECURITY POLICY (founded in 1988) by: General John Foss, General Al Gray, Lieutenant General John Pustay, General Bernard Schriever, Admiral Carl Trost, Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, Douglas J. Feith, Frank Gaffney, Richard Perle, Henry S. Rowen and Eugene Rostow (Author of U.N. Resolution 242).
5. Bibi fooling Israel's voters.
Dave Wilson ,   usa   (12.22.08)
Another politician prostituting himself for votes. Not the first and wont be the last.
6. Golan haha!
spud murphy ,   Ofra   (12.22.08)
Bibi was born a lie- even his own mother thought she was screwed by what she got. Bibi is the scum of the earth and will sell his kids if he thinks it will give him a few dull pages of future history books. He is simply - a con man in sheeps clothing. I tell you this as a Likud member and as a member of a dictocratic party which will die a deserving death in the coming elections.
7. Form a coalition Bibi and you wont get my vote!
Freejew ,   Israel   (12.22.08)
8. No Reason To Even THINK Of
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.22.08)
Giving Golan away, unless you wish to endanger most of northern Israel...better to be overlooking Damascus than Syrians overlooking Safed and Tiberias. The Syrian Frontier has been peaceful and quiet for more than 30 years ,please don't rock the boat....if it aint broke don't fix it.
9. What does Syria have in mind as a peace deal?
Sam ,   Canada   (12.22.08)
Before kissing Syria and any hopes for peace good-bye,Syria should be heard out. Syria is speaking of direct talks. Let's hear what they have in mind. If there are any doubts as to Israel's security and the advantages of a deal then Israel can say no.
10. It's at least nice to hear a clear statement on the issue
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (12.22.08)
From Olmert and his fellow weasels what we keep hearing is "everyone knows the price" of a deal with Syria - their way of saying "I gotta' make a deal, and you're the price". Getting a straight answer from Israel's leaders is often like nailing jello to a wall. And we all know "accountability" doesn't translate well into today's Hebrew. But maybe with Yaalon at his side, Bibi can be held to such a commitment this time.
11. 1 Get ...It IS possible he learned his lesson on that one.
(12.22.08)
12. Get Real #1
karen US/Australia ,   Australia   (12.22.08)
Hebron give away was part of the Oslo Pieces and you can thank Peres. Do you remember why Rabin took a bullet? Just like before Olmert is setting up any incoming government to fulfill any giveaway. Olmert will make an agreement to give away Golan and Judea and Samaria and then the new government will be blamed. Israelis themselves are helping in their own destruction. STOP CALLING IT THE WEST BANK AND STOP CALLING ISRAELIS WHO LIVE THERE SETTLERS.
13. Likud is right about the Golan
Brod ,   USA   (12.22.08)
The Golan is not just a strategic asset to Israel but as General Peled puts it, "the oxygen to the State of Israel." The brave Israeli soldiers who fought to defend the Golan from Syrian invasion of northern Israel in the 1973 War know how important and indispensible the Golan is to Israel's security and survival. The famous battle of the Valley of Tears was fought over the Golan. Israel paid a heavy price in sweats, tears and blood to defend her historic homeland of Golan in 1973. Olmert should stop facilitating the Islamist-JIhadists in crusading their Jihadism on Israel. Peace in exchange of a piece of Israel's historic homeland is NOT peace. It is fake peace based on Islamist-JIhadist Taqiyya. It endangers Israel's national security interests and survival.
14. Bibi doesn't even know where the Golan is!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (12.22.08)
The Likud hasn't done a thing for the Golan. In fact, all money budgeted for development of the "North" was spirited away to Judea, Samaria and Gaza! As for believing Bibi, ask those who have to search for food in the trash. Ask the sick, the handicapped and the elderly. Do you think that Mr. and Mrs. Netanyahu could live on NIS1823 and if one of them was not around NIS1213. Nice income hmmm?
15. re 4, you are a liar
Sayid ,   Sweden   (12.22.08)
1920 Franco British agreement boundary would set the mandate border so that about 80% of Golan was gonna go to the Syrian Mandate and even accecs to the sea of gallile.
16. why is this traitorous gangster 'olmert' negotiating ?
chaim ,   brooklyn ny   (12.22.08)
17. re 13, Golan is NOT israels historc homeland.
Sayid ,   Sweden   (12.22.08)
The Israeli peoples historic homelands is in Moldova, Latvia, Poland, Germany, Ethiopia and Spain. No Levantine Semetic land belongs to you illegal invaders.
18. Not be have any negotiation
Lutfi - Messiah ,   Orhangazi   (12.22.08)
All previous negotioton is canceled by me!! I am Messiah of Israel!! I will tell what to do!!
19. #17 Go and learn history first
Ted ,   UK   (12.22.08)
Palestine ia a roman name. The palestinians are nomads who came to palestine from neighbouring Arab countries, They should return to their homlands. The jews that lived in europe have been exiled from Palesine by the romans, they are the right owners of this land...
20. #9 A Bit Naughty Of You To Sit In
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.22.08)
Canada and recommend the giving away of precious land to a ruthless enemy just on the faint hope of a glimpse of a promise of peace.Come live next to Syria and you will think differently.
21. The Jews in Gaza never believed they would be thrown out
Al   (12.22.08)
The result was that they were thrown out head first and impoverished along the way. Even their dead were dug up and deposited in some other place. Fast forward to today where those very same communities which were front row and centre to cheer on this outrage are having their heads handed to them thanks to kassams being fired from Gaza. The very same can be said for the delusional Jews currently living in the Golan. It does not matter who will be in power for this asset will be given back to Syria in due time. It comes down to a simple fact..We Jews are pathetic and quite simply fools. We learn nothing from our history. We get our heads handed to us all the time. We tell ourselves stories how smart we are, all the while our enemies use our weakness against us. As long as we Jews dont believe in our g-d given right to the land of Israel, this enterprise will fail. Secular Zionism is a failure.
22. Sayid #17
Brod ,   USA   (12.22.08)
Your knowledge of the Holy Bible, Ancient History and Biblical Archaeology is zero. The fact is the Land of Israel belongs to the Jews since ancient time from the time of their forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob 4000 years ago. In fulfillment of GOD's Covenant to Israel, He has restored Modern Israel in their Ancient Land of Israel in the 20th century. Jeremiah 31:1-17, Ezekiel 36:24-38, Ezekiel 37:21-28, Ezekiel 39:27-29, Amos 9:14-15. No mortal including the AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists should dare tamper with GOD's Restoration of Modern Israel in their Ancient Land of Israel. It is time the Islamist-Jihadists stop usurping the Land of Israel from the Jews. The Islamist-Jihadists should return to their historic homeland in Arabia where they originated in the 7th century.
23. you all need to go and read history
Palestinian ,   Son of Lydd   (12.22.08)
This is an Arab land. According to the books Exodus and Numbers in the Bible, Joshua (who was born in Egypt) was the leader of the Israelites succeeding Moses and lead in the conquest of the land of Arab Canaanites around 12th century BCE (Before Common Era). Stop your nonsense!
24. #17
david ,   new york   (12.22.08)
the jews have been a majority in israel for 2 generations and jews have lived there continuously back until when your ancestors were eating each other alive. if an arab is peaceful and lives in israel, even meir kahane had no argument with such a person living in peace. but if you want to blow people up or you want to make israel into afganistan (or gaza), well that's another matter. BTW: if your name is Sayid, what are you doing in Sweden?
25. #21 Couldn't Have Put It Better Myself
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.22.08)
Well said Al.
26. #23 Pagan Canaanites
Brod ,   USA   (12.22.08)
Their sins and abominations made them disappear into the dustbin of history just as other ancient Pagan civilizations. This was long before there were Arabs or Islamist-Jihadists.
27. Lydd#23
Orwell ,   farmville   (12.22.08)
Are you sure you wont to make such a lame argument. The Arab Led the jews aganist the arabs so Isreal belongs to arabs < You should think it through before writing. ................
28. Keeping the Golan Heights is a smart move.
Erastus CoupeDeVille ,   Ong's Hat, NJ   (12.23.08)
Israel needs to hang on to those sources of fresh water.
