2. Isn't that usually called ''pimping'' ???
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (12.25.08)
The clerics don't supply the girls so it's not exactly pimping. But close. To call this hypocrisy is an understatement but it's not all that different from ''one-night stands'' in the West. How exactly they reconcile this practice with sexual segregation, the exagerated ''modesty'' of covering up women like potato sacks from head to toe, & the somewhat bizarre belief in ''family honour'' which prompts some to murder their relatives, I have no idea. But you can trust religious hypocrites to find a justification for just about anything - the intellectual dishonesty of clerics is far superior even to politicians & lawyers.

6. Pointless article
Patrick ,   Beer Sheva, Israel   (12.25.08)
This is anything but new---it's been going on for years. But of course, ynet has to sensationalize it instead of writing something of substance, say, on the whole phenomenon of the lack of women's rights in the Arab world with Mut'ah (temporary marriage) merely one symptom of the problem. Much easier to insert words like "prostitution" to reel 'em in.
7. LOL , I moving there to be a wedding photographer $$$

8. what is difference between 60 months or 60 min
soloman ,   los angeles , usa   (12.25.08)
what is the difference between pre-neptual agreement during regular marriage in which you pay fix amount of money if divorce happen so if you are rich you can pay the contracted money after one hour of marriage and divorce her right . I read in la times shia clergy also allow woman to get sperm donation if husband's sperms are not able to fertlize or dead . by the way I reserch on line temp marriage can be for one year or more or even ten years and you can put the conditions like no sex during marriage or only kisses or sleeping together or even just companion ship. sunni islam does not allow temp marriage .
9. They can marry & divorce. But the desertion of child respons
me   (12.25.08)
But the desertion of child responsibility is not right and it is typical of the fundamentalists who use children as human shields. I am surprised that this is done in these rich countries. That is so because they have so many children, they do not appreciate them.
10. Note that this is only shiite stuff, and is not acceptable
Muslim   (12.25.08)
by Muslims.
11. Maybe I moved to Bahrain
Mike ,   The Bronx   (12.25.08)
I as a non believer now believe Bahrain might be a good place to live. Can Israel or United States offer this, but they both want my tax money.
12. mutaa(temporary marriage) is banned by Sunni but not by Shia
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (12.25.08)
mutaa(temporary marriage) is unlawful and banned by Sunni muslims but still assumed valid and lawful by Shia including Iran, Normally such marriage would be prosecuted as prostitution under Sunni islam
13. One can only sneer with contempt at the Islamic ........ ...
Cameron ,   USA   (12.25.08)
World for sanctifying this kind of religious pimping. My respect for Islam drops yet further.
14. Born without rights?
Ron Larson ,   California, USA   (12.25.08)
WTF is up with that? Just because your dad is a irresponsible scumbag means you get punished for it by not having rights? What rights are denied to these kids? This sounds more messed up than the idea of an hourly rent-a-wife.

Quote :” "pleasure nuptials" – a tradition which allows men and women to marry for a brief period of time, for the sole purpose of having sex.” Married life is a religious DUTY, is a Holy transaction. Religion means to train the followers to experience HAPPINESS by developing one’s loving relationship with God, the Supreme Lord. Married life is NOT meant to have sex for the sole purpose of having sex. The clergymen who advocate Mut’ah (temporary marriage, as mentioned by Patrick#6) show that they have not understood the Koran properly, show that they do NOT know what religion means. (So, how can they call themselves Ayatollahs, Mullahs, Muftis, Imams ?) BTW this Mut’ah is VERY unbeneficial for women, it makes the women look very CHEAP, it destroys the chastity of women, it is unfriendly towards women. Mut’ah makes women into playthings of men -- and that should NOT be tolerated by feminist groups, should NOT be tolerated by women rights groups !!! Women should RISE UP and fight for their rights (and kick the crap out of the men) !!! BTW this “idea of an hourly rent-a-wife” (as mentioned by Soloman#14) is very BAD for women, is NOT in favour of women. OF COURSE, the men love this exploitation of women.
