The real story of the "Gaza siege" is simple. Hamas took power illegally in Gaza and refuses to participate in the peace process. It announces that it will never recognize Israel. It refuses to allow EU inspectors to operate the Rafah terminal, and it is pouring rockets into Israel every day. Consequently, the international community, and not just Israel, are supposedly boycotting Hamas. Hamas thinks it is ready for whatever Isreal deals out in a foray into Gaza. In fact, they are counting on Isreal coming in. They may be right, they may be wrong. But they think they will win somehow. I do hope Israel has a very good idea of what it is doing if it goes into the Gaza.

All this fancy army-type analysis can evaporate and Israel can make Hamas disappear in a year or two if Israel wants it. Simply adopt the Saudi Peace Initiative. The rockets and mortars stop overnight. In a year or two Hamas disappears because it is not needed. Face it, so long as you want land instead of peace, you will have Hamas, DFLP, PFLP, PRC, Aqsa Brigades, Islamic Jihad, etd. ISRAEL HAS CREATED THEM ALL BY ITS LAND-GRAB POLICY OF 60 YEARS DURATION. SO MAKE THEM DISAPPEAR BY GIVING IT UP.

The weakness shown by Kadima and Labor only serve to show that even Israeli leaders doubt it's legitimacy. Fight as though you are a legitimate State and defeat the enemy!

Palestinians will keep fighting until Israel capitulates to their political demands. The demands of the 1967 borders and a large return of refugees are unacceptable to Israel. What Israel can aspire to is to hit the Palestinians hard enough so as to achieve a lengthier truce.

In Überlingen (lake of constance) is a huge tunnel-system, called "Goldbacher Stollen" where the war-industrie of Friedrichshafen (lake of constance) tried to carry on. I think a more effective method to squeeze out the life of Hamas is to turn off the electricity we supply, shut the water supply and close the Israeli borders so that the muslim brotherhood can supply all these necessities through Egypt. Let the Arabic world so enraged by what Israel is doing step up to the plate and do the providing of the basic needs.

Israel should use land as a lever to encourage it's opponents to negotiate peace terms in good faith. Instead of giving up land, she should incrementally take over new territory each time it's borders are violated and attacks occur inside Israel. By taking small portions of enemy occupied territory at a time, the leverage for good faith negotiation is gradually increased and Israel's need for management of such territory is minimized and at the same time would serve as a buffer zone.
