1. I don't see any incitement
Vaydeem ,   LA   (12.31.08)
THis sick govt. is the cause of pain and anguish but peacefull Torah scholars are taken to jail. Rabbis such as Rabbi Meir Kahane have and will be put in jail for wrong reasons. This govt. is not legitimatte to me and has not been for many years.
2. INCITEMENT ? THERE IS JUSTIFICATION HERE
YITZAK BEN SHLOMO   (12.31.08)
Dei Mazuz, AG , you listen, you saw the whole murder at Mercaz Harav rabbinical seminary in Jerusalem. Now drop it, these rabbis are the very few that keep the gates, now dont join the arabs an stand against my children ! ben singapore
3. Arab labor required to build settlements
Avi ,   Ramat Gan   (12.31.08)
And who will build their settlements? The ultra orthadox maybe !
4. Haven't we learned from experience?
Ben ,   Gush Etzion   (12.31.08)
How many Jews have been attacked by Arab workers? Why does the government impose closures if not for the reason that Arab workers can not be trusted? Does it make sense to hire some one whom we can not trust? What kind of incitement is this? Are the Rabbis saying to go out and harm arabs? Why should we provide arabs with a livelihood when there are so many Jews in need of one?
5. I think the AG needs to learn the law better
Adam Eliyahu Berkowi   (12.31.08)
To call the Rabbi's statements incitement is a rather wide definition of the term. Apparently, the AG couldn't find any other legal basis to prosecute so he chose the rather ambiguos term incitement, despite it being absolutely innapropriate in this case even in a rather wide definiton of the term. Incitement means a call to violence. Telling people not to hire or rent to Arabs may be racist, but it in no way is a call to violence.Neither is calling them an existential threat. It may be racist, it may be slanderous, it may even be illegal, but it is absolutely not incitement. The article refers to the calls to violence, true incitement, in nebulous anonymous terms. Rabbis are quoted in the other cases, but not in the actual incitement. But let's face it, in Israel, they can just be thrown in jail for "administrative detention". This is just another example of how the judicial system is biased, implementing the political agenda for the left wing. BTW, a few months ago, Tel Aviv residents were up in arms about arabs renting in their neighborhood. And a month ago they wanted to kick arabs out of their school. I don't remember any charges of incitement being mentioned.
6. Avi: We Hire No Arabs In My Community
YishaiKohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (12.31.08)
And yet we are growing very steadily. But thank you anyway for your concern.
7. A decree? ......Bit dramatic
Talula ,   Israel   (12.31.08)
Why does everything that comes from the rabbi 's desk have to be by way of a 'degree'? Why not just say don't hire arab workers - without the drama.
8. Everyone already understands that Israel is a police state
L ,   Elad, Israel   (12.31.08)
and not the "democracy" it crows to be. Little America it ain't. As far as the Israel (anti-) Religious Action Center's claims about this "incitement" bothering "anyone who cares about the Israeli democracy" -- they're right. I AM concerned and bothered. A democracy is a place where one can express one's opinions and views, no matter how politically incorrect, without fear of being brought to trial for them. You're absolutely right, #5 Mr. Adam Eliyahu, this is not a call to arms or violence...it is a realistic call for caution and being defensive, not offensive. The purpose of a Religious/Rabbinical figure is not to be one who incites (ala Nasrallah), but to give advice and guidance as one would receive from one's father, advice of concern: be careful, look both ways before crossing the street, be cautious in hiring Arab workers, etc. We can look at the Mercaz HaRav tragedy, the bulldozer murders, the repairman/attacker with the screwdriver, the air-conditioning repairman who stabbed four people in Kiryat Sefer 2 days ago, etc, etc, etc. To deny reality in the name of some leftist PC dream-world agenda is preposterous. Those who address the reality of danger, especially in this current political climate, and caution their fellows to be wary should be applauded, not brought to trial and handed gag-orders.
9. To our beloved rabbi
Khalid ,   The Netherlands   (12.31.08)
Sice rabbi Kanievsky has opted to judge people by their names and ethnic origins, I suggest he starts with himself (just kind of soul searching) given that the name Kaniesvsky seems too slavic to have any indication of connection to God and his chosen people and that should be in line with Mr. Kanievsky ideology about religion and ethnicity. Hopefully, ideologues like Mr. Kanievsky will one day come to the conclusion that they are merely shaming themselves
10. Does the incitement include
Yonah ,   Hebron   (12.31.08)
those in the government that do everything in their power to throw out Jews from Yehuda and Shomron ie Peace house? Should we then arrest Olmert, Barah and Dichter?
11. This Deputy Attorney General Shai Nitzan is an IMBECILE!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (12.31.08)
If,and only if,the rabbis decreeded such a thing, THEY WERE RIGHT! Israel is a democracy and people with common sense must have the same right to speak than the imbecile leftists. It is simply logic:one can not hire somebody to work with him or her if this somebody wants the employer dead.IT IS COMMON SENSE AND THE RABBIS ARE RIGHT! Israel must rid itself of the psychotics running this country. They are UNABLE to reason properly!
12. Prosecute the crossing guards!
Aviela ,   KochavYaakov, Israel   (12.31.08)
As well as the nurses that remind us not to leave small legos on the floor next to a six-month-old. Stop teaching the children road safety! Let's start a playing-with-matches club! Print "Labriut, Sweetie" on cigarettes! C'mon, this has become a basic safety issue, get the politics out of it.
13. arab labor
elliot ,   usa   (12.31.08)
if you are not expelling them then you have to do business with them -but then jews not be expelled either
14. Our enemies laugh at us
S Judah ,   London   (12.31.08)
15. #9 Kalid day worker are you?
Petra ,   usa   (12.31.08)
I have friends in Holland and they hate muslims. They say you can smell them before you see them. No goodwill anyplace eh? Better be quiet and perhaps you wont be noticed. Got bath?
16. #7 Talula
Pete ,   Bat Yam   (12.31.08)
It is YNET that used teh word Dec=ree not the Rabbis. They simply issued a ruling and signed it. YNET has turned it into drama using the word DECREE
17. #9 Khalid or is is Khalood?
Meir ,   Beit Shemesh   (12.31.08)
Rabbi Kanievsky is an authority on Jewish Law who lives a very modest life unlike your sheiks who are by and large illiterate and live like kings at the expense of the poor people of his village.
18. Amein
Eli ,   Brooklyn   (12.31.08)
Amein
19. Arab services?
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (12.31.08)
Those who suggest to not use any precautions with Arab workers should be rotting in jail!!! For causing death by "rashlanut"!!!
20. the 5th column
su ,   jerusalem   (12.31.08)
the courts will have to understand that too many murders have occured by Arab workers all the years and especially in the last year-it is different from discrimination lawsuits in the USA against employers who don't hire or promote minorities-here the presence of Arab workers creates fear of safety.
21. secular court system
mordechai ,   israel   (12.31.08)
abusing power to destroy the JEWISH state. stop blaming all your problems of Chareidim, it is he leftist secular elite that are destroying Jewish israel. I would much rather have the standards of justice decided by rabbis than secular traitors.
22. Not use Arab Israeli workers ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.31.08)
It's dangerous ? and why do those Rabbis not decree to not drive a car ? Road accidents killed more than all the wars here . And people , don't go to bed , most people die there , it's dangerous ! [ LOL] Incitement , all depends on how it's said . And finally , are'nt there Jewish murderers ?
23. #15 Petra, the racist
Michael ,   Haifa   (12.31.08)
Julius Streicher, Yemach Sh'mo, used to write in the "Strurmer" that Jews can be recognized by their smell. Your remark sounds similarly like a backed-up sewer from that period. You ought to be ashamed yourself.
24. Mentally ill AG
Alex ,   Brooklyn, NY   (12.31.08)
Shai Nitzan, the AG, must be mentally ill and must be immediately removed from office. This is just another prove that liberalism is a mental disorder (michael Savage).
25. The Israeli-Arab Myth!
David ,   Safed, Israel   (12.31.08)
Fools are they who believe that there is such a thing as an israeli-arab. These arabs are from the same seed of the palestinians. Anyone that thinks that there is no solidarity with their brethern is a fool. Did we not feel an obligation towards our fellow jews, persecuted in the Soviet? Inside their hearts, these arabs are waiting for the day when they will overrun us and rule the land. And every one of us has to be ready for the day of reckoning!
26. #3 Avi
Moish ,   Jerusalem   (12.31.08)
Are you insinuating that manual labor is beneath secular Jews and only fitting for Chareidim and Arabs? Are there no jobless secular Jews? I have a cousin whose apartment in Har Nof (not a settlement) was built by arabs and he found the sewage pipes full of cement, dead fish in the wall and other wonderful "gifts" left by the saboteurs. The only reason we have arabs here in Israel is that the elitists of the Maarach wanted to use them for "cheap"labor, so who are the racists? Why can't arabs find jobs in their own kfarim? Why must we give them jobs? do they ever hire Jews??
27. to 11: Shai Nitsan is no imbecil, he is a turncoat
mordechai ,   petah tikva,Isreal   (12.31.08)
Shai Nitzan is an ambitious person. He is a protege' of Beinish. To get ahead it seems he would stretch his interpretation of the law to hurt the few people who openly say what others think. Orwell was pessimistic: the world he foresaw did not take place in 1984, it came into existance some 10 years later, in Israel, together with the Oslo agreement. Since that time we have a think police, and psychic judges, as shown by the farce of a trial of Miss Har Shefi. The whole law enf=orcement system in Israel calls for a very strong parliement, and a very strong Minister of Justice, who together will return the law enforcement back to its proper place, out of politics.
28. AG
DHL ,   usa   (12.31.08)
I would never hire an arab worker my he be the best worker let the jews go back to build the homes of our beloved state. do not start up with the great rabbis
29. Petra #15, you usually make good points,
L ,   Elad, Israel   (12.31.08)
but you undermine your arguments when you resort to low name-calling. They smack of racism and discredit your position, giving leftists something to eagerly point at.
30. hire arab workers
malka ,   jerusalem   (01.01.09)
lets be stupid about this. would an arab hire jews as police or workers. HELLO don't think so. and give them money every month. rabbi are finally waking up. AMEN
