1. All i can say is GOOD no pause
AMY MARKELL ,   usa   (12.31.08)
GOOD DONT STOP NOW< WE ARE ON A ROLL HERE!!! kep going IDF
2. Excellent progress
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.31.08)
I am happy, for a change, in how the government is handling this. They are holding their ground against international criticism, with reasonable arguments for such. I am happy with the scale of the operation. That this is not a symbolic attempt because of the upcoming election. As for Eli Yishai. He has no business talking about security while he supports the idea that a sector of the population be exempt from military service. It's all too easy sending the seculars and religious-second-class to spill their blood. It really shows his character.
3. A Hamas unconditional surrender for a humanitarian break.
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (12.31.08)
This is war. If they don't like the effects of a war they keep initiating, then they need to admit they lost. It''s over.
4. is it time to disband the IDF all they do is surrender
zionist foever   (12.31.08)
Of course they won't accept a humanitarian pause they will instead accept a 6 week hudna based on terms laid down by Hamas. Just enough to get this government past an election then they will discuss extension of this hudna on terms probably even more favorable to Hamas. Hamas are calling the shots here and they know it. The government doesn't want to risk a ground operation which could cost them votes if anything goes wrong. Right now the government are heros becasuse they are doing something and because its all happening from the air no IDF soioders are getting hurt and the rocket attacks are right down. If the election was held today Livni would win by a landslide. The undecided centerists who would vote for Likud because they don't think Kadima is delivering on security issues but are generaly left wing leaning would say well Kadima are doing whats needed for security and I don't like Bibi anyway especialy after the Moshe Felgin affair but I am willing to give Livni a chance if I can be confident she will deliver on security. Alot of the right wing Likud voters will go for the likes of Yisrael Beitanu or Hatikvah because of what Natanyahu did to Felgin so they don't trust him and think that he is ditchng Felgin because he wants to have a left wing agenda so better to go for a right wing party I know isn't going to join the left. The Gaza operation is costing Likud the vital centerist voters and the Felgin fiasco is costing Likud the right wing votes. If Kadima & the right wing play their cards right Likud will certainly finish second possibly even third and there is not much time to turn this around. If this operation is ended we will have once again lost and proven yet agan that the IDF is the only army in the region that cant win wars. Hamas would provide us with better security than the IDF these days they stay and fight we just run.
5. cease fire
g.man ,   u.k.   (12.31.08)
Offer to move all terrorists to prisons in the souh of Israel, and also offer to return their missiles back from where they came.IF YOU BEGIN WITH BEING KIND TO THE CRUEL,YOU WILL END UP BEING CRUEL TO THE KIND.FINISH THE JOB IT IS HARD,BUT WILL DETER THE BIGGER BOYS IN HIZBULLA AND IRAN!!!!
6. Israel needs to redouble hasbara efforts NOW
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (12.31.08)
The 2nd Lebanon War proved, beyond any doubt, that hasbara is an essential part of warfare - and quite frankly, Israel's always been lagging behind the Arabs with regard to winning hearts and minds in the West. To be sure, there are huge obstacles in the way: media bias, underlying antisemitism, deep psychological guilt complexes in Europe, etc etc - but all propaganda efforts should be doubled and redoubled! Foreign Affairs personnel ought to use each and every means at their disposal, preferably skilled PR professionals (not rough mannered military spokespeople) and in as many languages as possible (not only English, please!!!), in order to make crystal clear to everyone listening/watching that: 1) the current campaign is a response to relentless provocations from Hamas; 2) 500,000 Israelis living south of Ashdod deserve peace and tranquility like any other human being; 3) The targets are legitimate military facilities, which Hamas deliberately built among heavily populated districts in order to turn civilians into an human shield and to exploit the images of collateral victims in the most cruel, disgusting way. I know that some rugged, stereotypical sabra-style Israelis believe it to be a waste of time and money, a kind of fussy nicety that Israel does not need and cannot afford to pursu - but they are wrong, Israel does need sympathy and understanding from abroad! Israel and Israelis needs as much support as they can get!!
7. HIT THEM HARD!!!
Adrian ,   Manila,Philippines   (12.31.08)
IF PEACE IS NOT THE ANSWER... WAR IS THE SOLUTION!!! GO ISRAEL!!!
8. you got me worried for a minute there...
Kevin ,   p. elizabeth   (12.31.08)
finish the job for the sake of good.
9. No "humans" fired the rockets from gaza, ANIMALS.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.31.08)
Animals who walk on two legs and want to kill Jews need no "humanitarian" pause. Remember the rule, "Do not be kind to a cruel "person" for you will surely be cruel to a kind person (the residents of Israel who have been subject to rocket attacks.) No, let the terrorists go on dying, that is their job, to die for their actions.
10. sure..why should devils stop killing ??
Jalal ,   Gaza   (12.31.08)
11. The bulls*** hour is truly over.
Cameron ,   USA   (12.31.08)
No more games.
12. Please Israel dont let your jews down
Shamil Benyaminov ,   Brooklyn, NY   (12.31.08)
Finish the job once and for all. Stop caring about international community what they have to say, they would not care what will happened to us. Stop the appeasement, stop land for peace non sense. If they want peace they take what we give them and G-d forbid NO Golani for anything. Golans are ours and will remain ours…
13. New proposal by Hamas
Hector   (12.31.08)
Hamas will propose ten-minute truces six every hour during which time no rockets will be fired. This will reduce the number of rockets to less then 200 a day. It will give Hamas time to develop longer range rockets that will be able to reach downtown Tel Aviv and Jersusalem.
14. IDF, spread out idle tank groups to avoid stray hamas fire
Daniel ,   Los Angeles, USA   (12.31.08)
Ynet photos show awaiting IDF tanks in 'sitting duck' formations
15. A Question for the International community
Millicent ,   Israel   (12.31.08)
How come when Hamas was rocketing Sderot daily only a few months ago during the so called truce there was no out cry from the international community to Hamas to stop rocketing the people of Sderot? Why is it in your eyes it is okay to rocket Israeli civillians day in and day out but it is wrong to return the rocket fire to the Arabs in Gaza? Why the two faces International community? Is it that you like their propaganda and believe their lies, or are you still blaming Israel for the world's ills? Because if you notice in everycountry that there is a large civil unrest like SUDAN,SOMOLIA,PHILLIPEANS,CHECHNYA,etc the unrest and war is caused by MUSLIM EXTREMISTS TRYING TO TAKE CONTROL! WAKE UP WORLD IT IS THE MUSLIM EXTREMESTS LIKE HAMAS
16. Tell the same story for two hours straight and I may believe
Adam Eliyahu Berkowi   (12.31.08)
A few hours ago the Israeli government wanted a "unilateral ceasefire", a term that defies definition. YNet calls this a "humanitarian ceasefire". fascinating since the Palestinians are rejecting it. If it was humanitarian, they would accepot it in a minute, like they are accepting the hundreds of millions of dollars being funneled to them from around the world. The Palestinians don't want this, the Israeli people don't want this. The only people (and I use the term loosely) who want this are our politicians. Whose interests are they serving?
17. To Zionist Forever #4. NO Need For A Ground Operation.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (12.31.08)
You say :”it is time to disband the IDF “. I will say, if things can be done in an easy way -- why take the difficult way ? You are much too harsh towards IDF -- and the IDF doesn't deserve that. The policy of Israel should be, NOW, to answer EVERY rocket fired from Gaza Strip with a similar kind of rocket -- specifically fired on the houses of Hamas members in Gaza Strip. Let them (i.e. Hamas members) feel the fear (and destruction) the UNARMED Israeli civilians (of Sderot, other places) feel and experience. LET this policy (of equal retaliation) go on AS LONG AS rockets are being fired from Gaza Strip. BTW there will be NO one in the whole world (including the Arab/Muslim world) who will object to this policy of equal retaliation. CONCLUSION : AS such, there is NO need for a ground operation. Israel should show the world that we are simply REACTING to rocket attacks, and that Israel is NOT interested in conquering Gaza Strip. (This TB is a repeat that appeared on an article named : Not a one-time shot.)
18. Is this assault on Gazza all about delaying elections?
Freejew2U ,   Israel   (12.31.08)
Judging by the leftist Steve Plockers latest ridiculous article, it is! Olmert is a liar, thief and crook! I dont trust a word that comes out of his filthy mouth! Nothing should stop the Elections in FEb!!!!!!! No way should any Kadima member be part of the new government! NO COALITION!
19. Olmert
Adam S ,   Jerusalem   (12.31.08)
I bet Olmert is kicking himself now!!!! Finally he is doing something right and the public appreciates these wise actions but he cant fool anyone we all know what type of a president he is and his current actions are based on public pressure and obviously his selfish needs as he probably wants to leave his position feeling being remembered. I am very glad we not stopping thats how to defeat and enemy .
20. World are BA$TARD$
Jimmy37 ,   New York, USA   (12.31.08)
Where was the world telling Hamas to stop shelling Israel? The world has no standing to tell Israel anything regarding its defense. Israel needs to tell the world to go away, especially hypocrites like France, who have no problem attacking targets when its in their national interest.
21. What kind of war is that?
Jewish Refugee ,   U.S.A.   (12.31.08)
We bomb them (Hamas and those have "elected them") and then we give them humanitarian aid. This is outrageous, if contrinue like this Israel would not survive until its 100th birthday. If you enter a war fight a war by the rules of war. No aid, Bomb day and night, Until they surrender. If you don't agree come and challenge me at: http://israelactnow.blogspot.com/
22. No breaks! Keep bombing.
sally ,   Atlantic City   (12.31.08)
We are on a roll. Dont stop the momentum! We arent finished. Ne reason to stop. If "civilians" get hit, too bad. We paid enough. Mot its the time to take care of business.
23. Gen Sherman would be glad
mike cato ,   USA   (12.31.08)
Perhaps the idiot Olmert , emerging from his overdose of stupid pills, may be reading the words of Gen W.T Sherman, Grand army of the Republic, Amer. Civil War, to wit: "I would make this war as severe as possible, and show no symptoms of tiring till the [enemy]begs for mercy." Also, "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want." As for the UN and the EU, here's another quote from Gen. Sherman: "War is not a popularity contest."
24. #6 why do you need more lies????
Edithann ,   USA   (12.31.08)
Do you think the world doesn't know how terrible this is..Do you have so much contempt for people that you think you can make a pig into a swan and have people believe it... That;s exact;y why you're in this mess..because you give nothing..and expect it all... TATA
25. reciprocity
Arie ,   BaGolan   (12.31.08)
No one demanded a "humanitarian pause" when 3000 rockets were fired at our civilians in the Negev. We should agree to none until either we kill all the terrorists, or the palis wake up and they exorcise themselves of the evil in their midst
26. Finish
AP ,   Canada   (12.31.08)
It's time to finish the job !!!!!!!!!!!!
27. U don't need good weather to fire tank shells
William ,   Israel   (12.31.08)
Nevermind a ground incursion, supplement the IAF which tanks shells and mortars back in the direction Hamas is.
28. Israeli Cease Fire = Israeli Surrender
Jeffrey ,   Boston   (12.31.08)
Don't do it.
29. NO CEASE-FIRE, ONLY UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER
David ,   Hartford USA   (12.31.08)
The IDF must wipe Hamas from the face of the earth. To let them remain will only mean fighting them again another day. Finish the job this time. Israel and the IDF must know that while 'thousands' of Hamas supporters are demonstrating around the world, HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE PRAYING THAT ISRAEL WILL ERADICATE THE HAMAS DISEASE. Hit them hard, hit them often, and don't let up! G-d Bless the IDF and Israel!
30. Those who are kind when they should be cruel
Steve ,   Atlanta USA   (12.31.08)
will in the end be cruel when they should be kind.
