1. That's because they aren't one 'people'
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (12.31.08)
That is why Hamas was able to throw Fatah-supporters off of roofs and shoot them in the middle of the street while family members watched and how they can disrupt weddings of Fatah-supporters. Because they aren't a 'people.'
2. Arab unity, somewhat mythical concept.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (12.31.08)
Arabs are obsessed with ''unity'' - kind of odd considering they are the most disunited people on the planet. They love to talk about ''unity'' especially when they have nothing constructive to talk about. For the most part, their own countries aren't united, someone said, ''a collection of tribes with flags.'' The whole idea of ''unity'' goes back to the mythical time of an Islamic caliphate which lasted a very short time. The other part of this peculiar idea is based on the idea that there is some kind of ''community'' of Muslims, also nonexistent. The only thing that unites the Arab world is it's hostility to the West & it's hatred of Israel. Otherwise, they pretty much hate each other, just a little less than they hate us. You could say that the Arabic language unites the Arab world but that's not quite true. There are as many dialects of Arabic as there are Arab countries. There is also the fact that most Muslims do not speak Arabic. Insofar as the Palestinians are concerned, I seem to recall Hamas gunmen & thugs throwing their ''brothers'' off of ten-story buildings, hardly a behavior that promotes unity. But Fatah thugs would happily throw their Hamas brothers off of ten-story buildings if they could. Right now, Fatah must content itself with just imprisoning them & torturing them. If you had to find an organization more useless than the UN, the Arab League would be my choice.

6. Fatah and Hamas.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (12.31.08)
The main difference between Fatah and Hamas is that Fatah has a faction within that appears to be interested in negotiating peace with Israel, while Hamas is unanimous in its refusal to engage. Still, there are fewer differences than the mainstream media would have us believe. The charters of both Hamas and Fatah both openly call for the destruction of Israel. Both groups have been consistently responsible for terrorist attacks against Israel. And both appear to be willing to let the Palestinian people suffer as the struggle continues for control of the Palestinian territories. More at : http://xrl.us/bju8k
