It HAS to be an extended war. There is no way that Israel - short of carpet bombing and killing every single Palestinian in Gaza - can win in a short period. It took two hard years from 2002 to 2004 to decisively defeat the suicide bomber in the West Bank. We should be looking at that sort of time frame. Iran is going bankrupt, it's economy assumed oil at 70-100USD and oil is around 35. In the next two years it isn't going to be able to fund Hamas and Hizbollah to the extent it did in the past. Nor Syria. The Lebanese Shia in the US are going to be able to send less and less money back home. Europeans are going to care less and less about oil and sucking up to our arab and persian friends. Our strategic situation is only going to get better and theirs worse. If we put a timeframe on this then Hamas just needs to fire some rockets at ceasefire - 1 min and there is another "divine victory". Lets say there is NO deadline, there are NO kid gloves - we will strike ANYWHERE there are weapons or Hamas - and we are not sure if we come in that we will EVER leave this time and then there will be be no "victory" for Hamas.
