sas ,   israel   (01.03.09)
hope that they are not religious and fanatics. we have enought of those. also hope that they did not come because of the economic situation. they will use all their "rights" and leave as soon as things get better.
2. God bless them. These Olim did not come here to take
Alexa   (01.03.09)
advantage of sal klita, unlike many others .
3. #1 - you could also see it as a very positive thing!
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (01.03.09)
Do the people in the picture look like "religious fanatics" ? It's good to quesion things but there are lots of good things happening all the time. Shabbat Shalom, Mike
4. Ungrateful 1.
Gil ,   Tel Aviv   (01.03.09)
I find your statement unbelievably ungrateful, unappreciative and insensitive. Its typical of some (thankfully the minority) demoralized Israelis that often reply "why did you come here??". We came here because we look a little deeper than how much money we could earn back in NY or London or if my flat screen TV is bigger than my neighbour's. We came here because we have HEART and BELIEF in ourselves and Israel. You.. "Sas" have much to learn from the Olim. Lets welcome our brothers and sisters from this incoming flight with open arms and the true Israeli warmth. Baruhk HaBaa!
5. nice
Ilana   (01.03.09)
It isgood they are coming or maybe returning. I hope they stay because there are many annoying things here like the education system and inconsideration (during more normal times) or general nonsense. But I still think it is good to live here and extremely important.
6. ...and how many left israel???
John ,   N.Y.   (01.03.09)
Would ynet or the israeli media in general also write an article about the thousands olim who leave israel and return back to their native countries..?
7. ברוכים הבאים
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.03.09)
With all the problems we face , with all kinds of behaviour i dislike , there is one thing and it's : HERE WE ARE AT HOME
8. Olim
Happy ,   Israel   (01.03.09)
Welcome Home!! I made aliyah over 30 years ago and am very happy here.
9. SAS you are simply a disgrace to humanity
Ilan ,   Ariel   (01.03.09)
My brother and family made aliyah to kibbutz ketura. It was a decision made over a year ago. Go sod yourself.
10. New Olim
Choni Davidowitz   (01.03.09)
Welcome to new Olim. You are fulfilling the greatest Mitzvah of all. Bear this in mind, and your life in EretzYisrael will be blessed. P.S. Where are all the other Diaspora Jews. Only o.1% of American Jews have made Aliyah.
11. i was back in toronto in 6 months,,,,
alan ,   toronto   (01.03.09)
1) where we respect the laws here. 2) dont have to worry about arabs killing us 3) can be proud to be gay jews rather than experience hatred from the jewish taliban 4) dont have to deal with all that crazy Israeli beauracracy 5) dont have to deal with that horrible arrogant Israeli mentality. sometimes the truth hurts. IF one has family in Israel, it will be easier but for the single people,,,,,,,,,,,IT WASNT PRETTY ! besides, i definately feel more connected to Israel andad judiam from the diaspora. i WISH THEM LOTS OF LUCK----THEY WILL NEED IT ! VIVA ISRAEL
12. Answer to my own Question
Choni Davidowitz   (01.03.09)
Where are all the Diaspora Jews? The Diaspora Torah Leaders are re-enacting the sin of the (10) spies, and unfortunately there are Yehoshua's or Calev's.
13. Alan, please stay in Toronto
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (01.03.09)
If you 'are happier there then thats fine. Yet I am an ex-Canadian and I am much happier in Israel. Yes, the first 6 months was tough yet remember the old saying "when the going gets tough, the tough get going I could debate each point with you(except for the gay Jewish part) and tell you why Israel is better than Canada yet there probally is no sense to this.
14. Be Hatzlahah!!!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (01.04.09)
There is no other place in this world for a Jew !

The so-called Jewish Taliban are a small segment of the population. They don't make government policy which is why, for instance, Israel doesn't have the cockamamie "don't ask, don't tell" policy in their military that we have in America. Israeli soldiers aren't forced to hide the fact that they're gay. And, as far as that "horrible arrogant Israeli mentality" is concerned, if you're gay, you should understand better than most people how evil those sorts of generalizations are.
16. Primitive ''Sas''
Yael ,   Tel Aviv   (01.04.09)
One of the most stupid statements I ever read.. But there have to be primitive people as well..
17. Welcome, fellow olim! Keep on coming!
L ,   Elad, Israel   (01.04.09)
Yes, you will encounter many bumps in your path (like all the bureaucracy, extreme rudeness, indiscriminate parking on sidewalks, etc), but nowhere else will you feel so much like a part of a very large family as here in Israel (every family has its squabbles, right?). How cool was it to realize that Dec 25th had come and gone and not one x-mas jingle was forced into my head in every store, gas station, radio station, etc.. In December there are dreidels & sufganiot everywhere, in March there are candies and baskets for Purim, in April comes cleaning supplies for Pesach, etc. Welcome home.
18. Olim
mark ,   Israel   (01.04.09)
100 new olim arrived from South Africa on Tuesday too. Met some of them on Erev Shabbat. Great people. To Allan, Toronto. Poor baby. Pity you went back. The IDF obviously missed out on a valiant fighter.

Welcome to our lousy educational system, where our teachers are forced to teach in overcrowded unruly classrooms, where the teachers are not any smarter than the students! Where Science teachers tell students that the rubber handle on screwdrivers are so that they don't get hot when you use them, r that there is no such temperature measurement as faregnheit! Where math teachers can't add up test scores properly! Where you are taxed to death by the gov, and lied to by them as well. Becareful on our roadways too, our drivers don't believe in signaling when they turn, pull out without looking and think they own the roads. Welcome to our banks wich rip off the consumer at every turn with high fees for everything including opening up an account, depositing money and withdrawing money from your account, they charge for everything! In short you are invited to become suckers like the rest of us!
20. This is a time of war and great fear
Al   (01.04.09)
Its time to get it together and stop pissing into eachothers soup. I've dome my share of that thru this venue, I admit , however now its war. How long it will last and how wide it will spread, no one knows. I understand great amounts of reserves have been called up and I understand that is so to shore up the northern front. I appeal to all people who love Israel to refrain from negative posts at this time. After the war and provided that all live we can resume our usual piss fest. As to the olim...G-d bless you all.. You look likle a beautiful group of menchin.
21. immigrants
sas ,   israel   (01.04.09)
#9 - i am facing reality. the majority are coming for selfish reasons and have no intention of settling down here forever. we have enough religious parasites here and those that that come because it is bad in the usa will not remain here. we've seen it happen before. open up your eyes.
22. Roxy , 19
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.04.09)
You are very depressed i think . You see only the half empty glass . Look at the positive points , at the warmth of the Israelis , of the many voluntering associations , and most of all at "BEING AT HOME" . Do you think that banks abroad are cheap ? That abroad there is no exagerated [ and sometimes , as i experienced , stupid ] administration ? And having lived for most of my life abroad , i know what i'm talking about .
23. here we met
ghannem ,   alquods   (01.04.09)
israeli are coming from all over the worl, its time to be ready to end all of you.when all juish are in israel than its easier to end all of them and finish all of their lives.and let all the world in piece. cause as monkies ,vompieres ,animals remain only them ,come come this your end
24. #21 welcome to Israel where you get
motti ,   bet shemesh   (01.04.09)
to experiance the intollerance of Jews and their customs. It goes both ways. The Chareidim need to respect all Jews for their standards of judaisim. And the non religios need to do the same. Why do my non jewish customers respect my being orthidox, but the Jews in israel do not?
25. #19..You´re rigth
Dave ,   sadly off ZION   (01.04.09)

28. Motti , Beth Shemesh
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.05.09)
Why do my non Jewish customers .....and the Israeli Jews not ? you wrote . Maybe that the Israelis know you better ? [LOL!]
29. Listen up now!
ISRAEL   (01.05.09)
It's tough!! it's very very tough. Israelis love to interfer in your business - the weather in the summer is unbearable, the cost of living is soaring, jobs are not in abundance - the religious make you crazy and we have hostile neighbours. AND I'D NEVER EVER WANT TO LIVE ANYWHERE ON EARTH APART FROM MY BELOVED ISRAEL!!!!!!
30. Including my 96 year old Mother
Pinchas ,   Haifa Israel   (01.05.09)
We want to welcome my 96 year mother and my brother and sitster-in-law who were among the other 250 Olim. Baruch Haba to all the new Olim
