1. Mubarak is right!
Haled ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.02.09)
Mubarak is right: Egypt already did for Gaza Streap as much as possible! And right now Hamas is intensively looking for somebody responsible for its coming defeat!
2. Interesting interpretation of international law
Danny   (01.02.09)
when you are war then all borders need to be open to you? Remind me to take a trip to Syria then....
3. Israel is no longer "occupying authority".
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (01.02.09)
Gaza was under Egyptian military authority from 1949-1967. Israel is out of there, and should be no more responsible for Gaza's welfare today than it was before it entered in 1967. Egypt likes things as they are - Israel taking the blame for anything that happens to their Arab "brothers" in Gaza, while Egypt keeps those same troublesome brothers away from Egypt proper where they're considered a threat. Face it. Palestinians are a threat to Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan, not just Israel. I'd say Gaza should be turned into a UN Protectorate, but they don't want to touch it either.
4. Mubarak the clown.
(01.02.09)
Its about time Fatso Mubarak joins Fatso Sharon whereever the hell that may be.
5. Mubarak a Dog, Nothing More, Nothing Less
Nour ,   Palestine   (01.02.09)
6. Mubarak, occupier is the one in charge, the occupied resists
observer   (01.02.09)
All exports from Gaza have been banned for 18 months, contrary to an agreement signed by Israel and negotiated by the US in November 2005 which said 400 truckloads a day of exports should have been leaving by the end of 2006.
7. Thank you Israel
Egyptian3569   (01.02.09)
Thank you Israel for doing the dirty job of wiping out Hamas. Those hypocritical selfish people who use religion to gain power and there hands are guilty with the blood of children , women and destroying the future of youth. They have the illusion of wiping out Israel and this is how they deceive the youth . The Middle Esat Axis of Evil that include Moslem brotherhood in Egypt, Hamas, Hezbolah, and Iran share the same ideology of using political Islam in a fanatic way without accepting the ether parties opinions. ( Their way or NO WAY) Do you guys understand now why the Egyptian police is so brutal with the Moslem brotherhood and other terrorists.?
8. #6 Observer - Observe MORE than just what you want
William ,   Israel   (01.02.09)
See the whole picture rather than your narrow focus to understand and comment. "November 2005 which said 400 truckloads a day of exports should have been leaving by the end of 2006." True, it also called for a demilitarized Gaza, an acceptance of previous agreements between Israel and Pals, and Intl observers on Rafah. Hamas broke all three immediately. They also got caught exporting weapons, terrorists, and rocket making plans. At that point, all bets are off. Why do you join Arab apologists in demanding adherence from Israel on agreements but nothing from the other side? Not one resolution has been adhered to by Arabs in the UN was founded, ergo it is a dead agreement.
9. Mubarak cannot sponsor a truce.
(01.02.09)
Mubarak is part of the problem and he is not an honest broker.
10. #5 Nour, I disagree with you.
Yasser (Hezbollah) ,   Beirut, Lebanon.   (01.02.09)
The royal society for the prevention of cruelty towards animals condemns your calling Mubarak "A dog". How could you insult dogs by linking them to this filth known as Mubarak. They will allow you to call him a pig if you want. God bless you Nour. You, the brave people of Palestine will always be in our hearts.
11. Mubarak will be the biggest looser.....
Yasser (Hezbollah) ,   Beirut, Lebanon   (01.02.09)
As a result of this unjust war on Gazza. He will be accountable to the Egyptian people. The countdown to his rule has already started. Haniye, on the other hand will be the biggest winner, because his support among the Arab masses will skyrocket. God bless the Palestinian people. They will prevail.
12. #4 - negative criticism is the easiest - please explain ..
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (01.02.09)
Tell us where you're from and why you think Mubarak and Sharon are/were clowns. Otherwise you're just letting off steam which is of course OK too :-) Mike
13. #2 if war aims at compelling norms, jus cogens supersedes
observer   (01.02.09)
the international law.
14. Note how Egypt is careful
Danny   (01.03.09)
to make sure that Israel is the one in charge... and also note how it gets away with closing it's border completely
15. The only way to crush Hamas: Back to Gaza.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (01.03.09)
Israel left the Gaza Strip over two years ago, with no intention of ever returning, yet, the continued escalation of Hamas terrorism emanating from Gaza, purposely targeting Israeli civilians, is liable to leave Israel with no choice. Hamas regime is bringing a Holocaust upon its people. In order to end their misery, the inhabitant of gaza should think about emigrating discretely to other Arab countries before it is too late. That is the real solution to their distress as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi7ku
16. #7
Dave Wilson ,   usa   (01.03.09)
Its easy for an Egyptian to criticize the democratically elected Hamas government. I dont blame you, because its been so long in Egypt that you forgot what democracy means. I nstead of criticizing Hamas, why dont you go buy yourself some dignity.
17. reply to #7 Egyptian.
Stephan ,   Belgium   (01.03.09)
I believe that Egyptians with your views are a minority. History repeats itself. Havent you learned from the past? Do you remember the Shah of Iran, Ferdinand Marcus of the Phillipines among other dictators? How long will Mubarak last? The countdown to Mubarak's rule has already started with his unjust treatment of the Palestinians.
18. Hamas(terrorism) is not prosperity, but misery and suffering
Moshe ,   Israel   (01.03.09)
Hamas went to the war unprepared. It is necessary to have good economy when somebody wants to go to war. Rich Iranian and Sirian taxpayers can sponsor terroristic activity, but it does not make Gaza economy any better. Now Gaza people suffering from humanitarian crisis. Hamas(a lot of young men) does not work, are involved in time, material, money consuming activity(making tunnels, bunkers, rockets, firing positions etc), than they are wounded or killed - again: more medicine needed, more medical personnel, more people participate in funerals - all this does not make Gaza economy any better. Mubarak does not want the same fate to Egiptian economy and to Egyptian people.
19. #18 Moshe, Israel
Dave Wilson ,   usa   (01.03.09)
I agree with you as long as you replace the word 'Hamas' with the word 'Israel' in your headline.
20. Israel IS the occupying authority
ktula ,   Seattle, USA   (01.03.09)
If Israel still control most of Gaza's border, air space and coasts, then Israel is still the occupying authority.
