yehuda ,   Holit, Israel   (01.02.09)
If this government fails to bring us a victory in this war there will be a house cleaning in the kennesit that has never been seen in the history of our nation. We are united in our determination and we will not tolerate the indecisivness of the second Lebanon war again.

3. Used to be a time Israel had a war every 10 years
daniel   (01.02.09)
I guess that was before the 'peace' proces.
4. Why can't Israel stop warring with its neighbors?
Christian ,   Eastern Europe   (01.02.09)
True, Palestinians fire rockets. But that's not a reason to go to war - that's a price you must pay for living on their land and not assimilating. You could try really hard to assimilate them and/or form a new common culture together with them, but you decide to exterminate and expel them. Don't ask for solidarity with you - that's YOUR decision to forcefully establish YOUR culture on those lands. Internation sanctions and embargo should be set upon you for ethnic cleansing you've been effectively performing during the last 60(100) years.

6. War against terrorism.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (01.03.09)
Israel is at the forefront of the struggle against terrorism and will continue to defend its citizens, who are exposed to this threat on a daily basis. Israel expects the nations of the world to support it in its war against those who murder women and children, by any means and with respect for neither place nor target. The murderers have no place among civilized peoples and shocks the conscience of all peace-loving nations. There is no cause that could ever justify this action. All the claims of the Arabs on The Land of Israel should be rejected as explained at : http://xrl.us/bjch4
7. #4, you missed the point
Tom ,   Tel-Aviv, IL   (01.03.09)
Basically, what you're asking for us is apologize and commit suicide. Trying really hard to assimilate them was done during the Oslo process, and led to hundreds of bomb attacks. This is a lesson we had to learn the hard way, and that you probably never experienced. Sorry to disappoint you, but personally I couldn't care less about your solidarity, I realized years ago that whatever we do we will never get it. As for the accusation of ethnic cleansing, may I remind that there were 1,300,000 Palestinians in 1944, and that they are today (including those living abroad) 9,400,000 ? Numbers don't lie. You obviously do.
8. War ?
Sean ,   Derry/Ireland   (01.03.09)
No Roni it's not a war. Wars are fought between armies. This is the fourth most powerful army and air force in the world raining 1000lb bombs onto densly crowded slums where 1.5m people live and cannot escape, i'm sure you know this. isreal has imposed a blockade that has starved the Gazans of food, fuel and most inhumanely, medecins. This has been denounced by the rest of the civilised world. No Roni not a war but a war crime. Who was the israeli minister who said he would visit a "shoa" on Gaza ? Nice of him to provide the evidence in advance, no need for a trial there then !

11. To Christian#4. Moses the Law Giver Led The Jewish People.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (01.03.09)
You say :”.. you (i.e. Israel) must pay for living on their (i.e. Arabs) land ..”. Dear Christian, Moses the Law Giver led the Jewish People out of Egypt in 1260 B.Chr. After wandering for 40 years in the Sinai Desert they entered the land (i.e. Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria, nowadays known as the West Bank) given to them by YAHWEH, the Supreme Lord -- as conveyed to the greater world by Moses the Law Giver. The Jewish People entered the Land of Israel in 1220 B.Chr. as per order of YAHWEH, the Supreme Lord. Dear Christian, the Land of Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria, belongs to the Jewish People, GIVEN to them by YAHWEH, the Supreme Lord. It belongs to them -- FOREVER. Dear Christian, if you say it (i.e. Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria) belongs to the Arabs, the question arises : WHEN did it (i.e. Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria) become Arab property ??? IF you say it became Arab property between 1516 AD and 1917 AD (Ottoman Empire) -- you should know that buying from a thief (i.e. Ottoman Rulers) is ILLEGAL. IF you say it became Arab property because it (i.e. Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria) was conquered by the Arab Muslim army of Prophet Mohammed in 638 AD -- you should know that they (i.e. Arab Muslims) are conquerors and OCCUPIERS of the Land of Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria. NEITHER was it (i.e. Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria) the possession of the Roman Empire / Byzantine Empire : 63 B.Chr. till 638 AD. NEITHER was it (i.e. Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria) the property of the Greek Empire : 332 B.Chr. till 141 B.Chr. NOR was it the property of the Persian Empire : 539 B.Chr. till 332 B.Chr. SO dear Christian, the Land of Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria, is NOT the property of the OCCUPIER -- the occupier being Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans/ Byzantines, Arab Muslims or Ottomans. Dear Christian, you above quote shows that either your History education is lacking, or that you are a sympathiser of THIEVES !!!
12. Israel has been at war with the arabs since 1948

And it will continue until the arabs accept Israel.
13. Get rid of the politicians
Mark Katzman ,   San Francisco, USA   (01.03.09)
It's a war; and tell the failures, olmert-barak-livni, those bloody politicians, to bug out and let the generals do what they do best.
14. arabs accept the s.a paper
lili ,   jerusalem   (01.03.09)
but israil do not accept only wars ......
15. This isn't a war, at least not on our side.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.03.09)
Stop the BS rhetoric, all this make-believe. This is no war, it's a bargaining technique to get another phoney truce. But, we'll give in to all of Hamas' demands anyway, that you can be sure of. Caroline Glick wrote a more accurate account of our usual surrender in the JPost. Even the normally wimpy Chief Editor, Mr Horovitz sees this for what it is. But I knew we'd bungle it up - with Olmert, Livni, & Barak, it was a forgone conclusion. Hamas may well be at war with us but our response is far short of war. Just look at the casualty figures. That tells the truth. Only 400 dead. What the hell kind of war is that if Hamas has between 15,000-20,000 soldiers? Now comes the, ''there is no military solution'' BS. Well, there is a military solution but we're not doing it.
16. To 8 So you have a case of the writers diarrhea?
The Business   (01.03.09)
Writing without any background. "Wars are fought between armies." Really so what about your British forces fighting in Afghanistan? What are they fighting? I guess that Afghanistan is where the sixth most powerful army and air force in the world raining 1000lb bombs onto densely crowed slums of Afghan cities? Where people cannot escape and roads throughout Afghanistan are blocked off from delivering food, fuel and most inhumanely medicines! This hasn't been denounced by the rest of the world, because the British are still as imperialists as a hundred years ago and acts in complete disregard to world opinion. No Sean this isn't a war these are war crimes in Afghanistan. "Who was the israeli minister who said he would visit a "shoa" on Gaza ?" Wow, you've not only shown your blind bias but your complete and utter ignorance. I'm guessing you get most of your news from Al-Jazeera. Well now it's time to give you a clue for Christmas gift. Shoa in hebrew has not only one meaning, but it also means DISASTER! And taken from the context of the statement, he was right. The Gazans would bring upon themselves disasters, and now they have. "Nice of him to provide the evidence in advance, no need for a trial there then !" Don't you have to act as a British enforcer and subjugate some more Irish under London rule?
17. #4What about self determination?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (01.03.09)
We had to suffer 1400 years dhimmi status in arab countries, and 2000 years discrimination, pogroms, religious hate from european ethnic supremacists like you. We paid the highest price in human history for our political weakness. So we decided to master our destiny and send eastern european bastards like you to hell.
18. #8, packing so many lies into one post...
Danny   (01.03.09)
Israel isn't the fourth most powerful army in the world, it isn't even the fourth largest in the Middle East - Turkey, Iran, Syria and Egypt ALL have substantially larger armies. In terms of actual combat troops, Hamas isn't that far behind the IDF. As for not letting aid in, lets see who is to blame: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20081228/wl_afp/mideastconflictgazaegyptaid_081228101521 Wierd Hamas has not been "denounced by the rest of the civilised world". And no israeli ever said that Israel would visit a "shoa" on Gaza. You must be misquoting Vilnai who said that the Hamas would be bring a disaster on themselves.... As for cowards, I guess we can't all be as brave as your writing from Britain.

I understand the dismay and the way you may feel about the current situation in Gaza, However I would like to remind the honorable Irish gentelman a few fact which perhaps not really aware of: * Most Israeli people would like a full truce with Gazan people and end of shelling Kasam missiles on our people that is an on-going for way over three years. * Israel removed all settlers from Gaza's territory thinking this will be a step in the right direction for Palis to start building the future for their country, again wrong they are not interested in Gaza, *After victory of Hamasover Fatah movement, Hamas has declared thatit does not recognise previous declaration by Fatah that Israel has the right to exist, on the contarary, now that the Hamas "running" the dis-organised shaw of bombing Israeli target, and then hiding behind innocent civilians mainly children and women. they are specialised in a dirty war that lead to more bloodshed, and when Israel retaliate the vow to avenge death of their murdering "HEROS", *You are certainly right to say that Israel military far superior then the Palis, however under no circumstance Israel intiating attack on Palis, Israel WILL ALWAYS DEFEND IT"S CITIZENS. *We do not want this war, we do not want any Palis killed, but Palis from HAMAS and FATAH is shelling our cities and people from over three years do you really think you can shut us up????? do you think we do not have the right to protect ourselves from sphoradic shelling by these "BRIGADES"? If you need any further evidence you as far as I believe ONE SIDED and no matter what action Israel will take you will still condemn Israel and never "poor Palis". get a grip on reality, you may be angry and may think we are cowards, but enough is enough!!!

it does not matter how you call it, really israeli public is not ready for real solution, the only way is to remove arabs(not palestinians) from gaza to egypt, most of them call themselves refuges anyway. if not eventually israel would agree to give up everyting including its own jewish identity by letting millions of arab "refugees" settle in ta and the rest of the country. you can imagine what could happen, there will be peace allright, but for example ynet and jp and others disappear, maybe with exception of haaretz.
