emanon ,   USA   (01.07.09)
2. They're going to have to be wiped out
J K ,   NYC, USA   (01.07.09)
Look at Jpost. Hamas still refuses to commit to a permanent cease-fire even after all this. These idiots are off the deep end as they are going to fight to the last civilian at this point. There is no reason for Israel to stop trying to root them out if there is no offer of lasting calm.
3. Hamas
babyfacemagee ,   usa   (01.07.09)
Finish them or press til they sue for peace on Israel's terms only. Don't ease up now. You're almost there and they're starting to squeal.
4. Begs the question
B.A. ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.07.09)
If an 11 day assault on Hamas in Gaza was capable of inflicting such damage, the real question is why did it take 7 years of daily rocket fire to precipitate such a response?!?
5. Stop the BS HIT HIT HIT HIT
Al   (01.07.09)
You're in middle of the 6th round. Stop the BS and talk...Fight Fight Fight Fight. To all the mavens out there in Zahal Land...Shut the F up and let the true heros do their work. You're talk does more damage than good.
6. finish the job, leave no hamas alive
bernard ross ,   st anns bay jamaica   (01.07.09)
7. #3
Michael ,   Israel   (01.07.09)
I agree that we must go on and not stop until we finish off the Hamas, but who are you, living in theUS to tell us to send our soldiers into death traps? come here to Israel and fight the Hamas with us! I am waiting.
8. Fundamentalist robots of hamas - only 1 way - wipe 'em out
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (01.07.09)
Just like an electrical toy with the batteries still on, hamas will continue to send rockets into Israel until the last hamas operative is wiped out. They just won't stop, they are brainwashed beyond help.
9. "Gaza will be your graveyard"...
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (01.07.09)
"The IDF is afraid to fight Hamas face-to-face"... "Our hero freedom fighters prepare a death trap for you!" Funny how all of a sudden, all of these voices, including from the Arab talkbackers in here, have hushed up...
10. Gaza and Hamas must go, Where ?
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, UT. USA   (01.07.09)
To Sinai. It is unreal to continue with this state of situation. The enclave of Gaza is an Egyptian creation that make no sense. No only Hamas has to be crushed but Gaza (all of it) is part of Israel History.
11. Michael
Punta di Lancia ,   Basel, Switzerland   (01.07.09)
Hey, Michael Be a little bit more tolerant. Nobody is giving you military advice. The IDF has done a brilliant job so far. It is the political climate leaning to ceasefire, which was adressed by #3 I guess.
12. To #4 - The reason why it too so long
Daniel ,   San Diego, CA   (01.07.09)
B.A., don't you remember how many casualties the I.D.F. sustained in the Lebanon War from anti-tank fire? Hamas has just as much of an anti-tank capability as Hizbulah does. It hasn't come out yet, but after the war is over, you will hear about the IDF's new active tank protection system that is keeping Hamas's antitank fire from causing the same damage to tanks that Hezbulah did. With higher casualties, the IDF would not be able to win a real psychological victory.
13. This story does not Tally with todays Times in London
R Hitchings ,   Kirkcaldy   (01.07.09)
which tells us that Hamas is under very little stress... with a possible 15/20 000 well trained Palestinian fighters taking turns to man their position. with at least enough supplies to fight for another 3 months if need be... this is probably more than Israels suppies without replenishment.
14. do not stop now.all effort will have been in vain.
adi ,   somewhere in Europe   (01.07.09)
Squeeze further, the decissive moment is approaching. And than, just do it.no much talk, just do it.the frontier between success and failure is thin.make sure you will be at the end on the right side of the frontier
15. Times/#13
Punta di Lancia ,   Basel, Switzerland   (01.07.09)
Thank you for giving us a sense of this wishful thinking of London's old auntie.
16.  "V.GOOD" ,BUT ...SHALLIT?

18. Learn Something
Marcel ,   Florida   (01.07.09)
. Pay close attention which nations are at the forefront of coming to Hama's rescue with a worthless ceasefire which will follow the same model of a stronger Hizbollah after that ceasefire. Pay close attention to the Israeli leaders who allowed both plans to come to pass. They are all enemies of Israel dear naive onse who refuse to look to Hashem but trust in liars instead.
19. #7 Michael
Marcel ,   Florida   (01.07.09)
You listened to someone in the US tell you to abandon Gaza to the Palestinians for his dream of a Palestinian state and now many in Israel suffer and die because Israel listened to him . So why do you rebuke this one and not the other one from the US ?
20. #13 - If that's true, then I would suggest...
William ,   Israel   (01.07.09)
keeping up the siege and blocking ALL food and supplies from entering the Strip, along with constant bombing of all tunnels. If what you say is true, the siege is not only warranted, but perfectly legitimate.
21. #13 - LOL!
Danielle ,   Israel   (01.07.09)
"this is probably more than Israels suppies" LOL! Way too funny!!! If Hamas was not using civilians as a shield, the only thing left of him would have been dust.
22. #17 You should'nt resort to name calling
Ronald   (01.07.09)
(... but I did like the "stuck pig" bit.)
23. Thank you Gov
Rob ,   Jer   (01.07.09)
I want to thank the Israeli government for finally being strong Jews and further more to the IDF for all their amazing eforts against these animals. But most of all I want to thank HaShem for guiding each soldier and looking after Am Israel. Please continue and be blessed.
24. Hahh haah haaa Dying of laughing Greenberg you cannot lose!
Tayfun_Turkey   (01.07.09)
25. War with Egypt and it proxy "hamas"
Jim ,   Chicago   (01.07.09)
So far Egypt is doing OK, sending rockets to hamas. Sendin people to Gaza. Make no mistake, this is the war with Egypt. Hamasniks and other Egyptians in Gaza must be killed and peace with Egypt restored. No more Egyptian rockets to Gaza/Sinai.
26. 13 Hitchings , since when is the Times an authority
S Judah ,   London   (01.07.09)
on these matters? Does it have operatives on the ground with knowledge or insight that Israel does not have? Does it have equipment or intellegence of a higher caliber then Israel? Obviously not ! The Times like most of the media are speculating and making things up to fit a story. It's known as "Creative Writing" , courses of which are available at various Universities in London
27. Good! They should indeed feel Israel crossed all lines
daniel   (01.07.09)
They have exploited this for years and it got Israel nowhere. This is not a beauty contest. You don't win by being nice
28. Why are they loved?
Wade ,   NYC USA   (01.07.09)
Considering the disaster and tragedy Hamas brought down on their people, it is amazing that Palestinians still support them. Some innocents probably hate them and are too scared to show it. But, too many Palestinians still blindly cheer them on as if Hamas were fighting for them- when the opposite is true.
29. Re: 26
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah   (01.07.09)
B"H There is evidence that hamas is under little pressure: - They keep on firing rockets at Israel, hardly a sign of distress - They feel safe, and rightly so, as civilians within the civilian population - They know full well that this "op" is not a military campaign but an electoral one, unfortunately, for the PLO and for the BLO, Barak, Livni, Olmert: they are the same and they need each-other.
30. Great Solution
zblunt ,   telaviv   (01.07.09)
Act now and ask apologies later and drop a bomb on the whole of Gaza. This is the way war goes innocents die. Unfortunate but true and without it we won't have peace. Sometimes we need to do terrible things for the greater benefit of mankind. Anyway they'll all be martyrs and go to heaven for it.. Peace.
