Israel has tried negotiations and "cease fires" many times before, but each time this "cease fire" is not respected by Hamas. Rockets being fired into Israel are a daily occurrence in the south of Israel. But this the world has ignored. The world barely blinked when suicide bombers ripped through the numerous shopping malls, nightclubs, bus stops and restaurants of Israeli civilians. To many of us the “conflicts of the middle east” seemed to far away and in a world far removed from ours. The difference between the sides is that Israel is not fighting a war against the Palestinian civilians, this war is against Hamas; the organisation who exploits their civilians to carry out their own military and ideological agenda. This organisation not only terrorises Israel, but also the Palestinian people through their use of them as human shields. Why doesn't the world become outraged at this blatant disregard for human life? I recognise that the nations of Israel and Palestine are both at fault. Each of them has their own justified cases. This complexity, mixed with the most powerful control mechanism of man kind -> religion, creates a conflict that has a long way to being resolved. I am devastated that our world is so ignorant and as harsh to condemn Israel for their actions, because doing so is to implicitly support Hamas.
