Jpost's article on the map adds another detail to the mannequin trap - the floor collapsing, dropping the soldier into a tunnel for capture. Very creative. Now, imagine what would have happened had the Palestinians, after Israel withdrew in 2005, applied their creative talent to building something useful: schools, businesses, factories, clinics, and - dare I say it - greenhouses.

I mean look at the map...aren't the Israeli army ashamed to show this picture....there is no straight line in it...and what is the point..that Hamas is planing to kill the Israeli army...well they are saying that every hour, that they are operating in the civilian areas...they are also (and the Israeli army) saying that they will fight through the narrow streets of Gaza...get real !

I agree that the least info released is better, but in this case, Hamas already knows that this positions had already been compromised and the IDF has already cleared those locations, so the map and locations are now neutralized. So there is more value in releasing the map and showing the world how Hamas puts their own civilians in risk.

These conferences are only ways of setting the infidels in the land of the Moslems as arbitraters. When did the infidels do justice to the believers? "But the Jews will not be pleased with thee, neither the Christians, until thou follow their religion; say, The direction of Allah is the true direction. There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. The Palestinian people know better than to consent to having their future, rights and fate toyed with. As in said in the honourable Hadith:

If the chief IDF office is using this map of one particular neighborhood as illustration now, you can be sure of 2 things. a) this neighborhood has already been cleaned up and b) a warning to Hamas that more of these will be found elsewhere and they await a similar fate.

The Map was shown to world to prove how Hamas is endangering their civilian population and how they are breaking International Law. What else is the IDF to do when Hamas is hiding in wait in civilian areas? The battles will be horrifying, but they must be done.

Palestinians regret the tragic incidents which involved two innocent Israeli soldiers. Never again will that happen; in the future they will make sure that only non-innocent soldiers be targeted.

Of course, it crossed my mind that this map could be a fake made by the hamas to confuse soldiers and no doubt they'll plant fakes here and there. The question is what is the effect of showing the map ? Aren't we showing we give it importance thus encouraging them with to make more of them ? The IDF could prepare a ditch 1000 ft. deep by 1000 ft wide, along the entire length of the Philidelphi corridor from the Med to the Israeli border near Keren Shalom, and fill it with water from the med. If necesasary warn the people to get out. No more tunnels - just perhaps build a bridge, this can be well supervised, or even taken out. Would appear that only the iron fist works. That's why the last time there was peace in the middle east was under the iron fist of the Ottoman Turk.

it had map of the stricken school with the possible booby-traps. But, still the IDF was adamant to hit the school and kill over 40 civilians. showing ancient photos is irrelevant here.

The IDF released this information. It is not the press' fault nor did they release anythign classified. If the IDF released it, then the map probably doesnt have ongoing military significance (like maybe they cleaned out the area)
