31. Ha ha ha ha ha! (Try #2 for Ynet)
GUH   (01.08.09)
Looks like I've ignited a row- six people lecturing me about what war crimes are... he he he! #2- obviously you like to describe your deeds and intentions in the most favorable terms, but obviously you can not erase the manifest outcome of these intentions #3- Kiss my ass #6- EXACTLY! The author is not praising Hamas war crimes... he's praising YOURS! #13- And what exactly is the killing of 700 (approaching 800), over half of them non-combatants, civilians? Self-Defense? Back at you. #14- But the author is not praising Hamas is he... I could create a much bigger list than that to tell you the truth... the mass murder is just the tip of the iceberg. You said you could go? By all means, GO! SHOO! #15- Uh... since when have little babies, women, children and even journalists (don't forget about that incident!) been considered terrorists? See the thing is that your emphasis on the word "Muslim" is that you seek their elimination- you aren't on the side of the law... not even your own laws (foreign journalists not allowed into Gaza even after the court ordered it) #17- You know, the word murderer implies that the person has killed someone prior; to you, an Arab with a gun fighting against the occupying forces is "a murderer..." Stay in your closet- you are not ready for the real world.
32. to 16: it is the wrong way
bruno ,   bouxwiller france   (01.08.09)
Dear Awaad i think you must forget the matter of victory. you cannot combat against ISRAEL. it is stupid. you have your rights, no doubt, however i do not know your personal situation therefore i cannot say more. but try to understand the Israeli people. i don't talk about the tragedies of the war, or justification for evil deeds, which certainly happened. I would like to explain that ISRAEL is under a constant threat of elimination through its countless enemies. ISRAEL must defend itself against this danger. unfortunately your people is in the midst of these evil manipulations. the leaders of your people are a total desaster. try to escape this evil influence. i am convinced everybody has a chance with the help of Jesus Christ, be it Jew or Gentile!
33. response to terrorists
miguel ,   argentina   (01.08.09)
Ahmadinejad will read this. Good recipe for the terrorist state of Israel.
34. Disproportionate morals
Andrew Smith ,   Raleigh, USA   (01.08.09)
While the policy of disproportionate response is an effective strategy, it is worth noting that killing terrorists is more effective than killing innocents. Without even debating the morality of killing children as a "response", all Israel is likely to do is add to the recruitment base for Hamas. I really cannot fathom a motive for a Palestinian not to hate Israel at the moment. Couching the murder of civilians in terms like "disproportionate response" is something more commonly seen in despotic regimes. This strategy is more accurately labelled "Beat them into submission". If Israel really wishes to adopt an effective policy against terrorism, it should attempt to end poverty in Gaza. People who are financially stable tend to be less inclined to do things that will jeopardize their comfortable life, although at this point there is enough bad blood on both sides of the conflict I doubt peace will be attainable for several generations.
35. #10 Most Israelis refugees from Arab countries
EgyptJewRefugee ,   Geneva, Switzerland   (01.08.09)
#10 You are mistaken. Over 50% of Israelis are Jewish refugees from the Arab countries. I am an Egyptian Jewish refugee. You persecuted and robbed us and you Egyptians are worse. War deters future wars and that is why one must destroy the Islamic terrorists. One day they will rule Egypt.
36. #27 Egyptian Racism and Cruelty
Massouda ,   Monte Carlo, Monaco   (01.08.09)
#27. The fact that you ignore that 500,000 Jews are living in terror, half children and most of them refugees from Arab countries shows your racism. I am a Jew from Iraq and suffered your Arab cruelty. We were forced to flee in 1951.
37. STop with the Nazi crap Isis
Melquiades ,   Montreal   (01.08.09)
I am sick and tired of hearing the Arab/leftist rhetoric about Israel being like the Nazis, or perpetrating genocide. It is extremely insulting to holocaust survivors, or their descendents like me. The real Nazi regime didn't offer to treat wounded Jews in German hospitals like Israel does for the Pals. They didn't eradicate 1/3 of the Palestinian population; on the contrary the Palestinian population has more than quadrupled in the last 50 years. Not a very efficient genocide.... It's also an insult to victims of real genocides like the Tutsis in Rwanda, Armenians and the MUSLIM blacks in Darfur, who have gotten more support from the evil Zionist entity than from their own Muslim brethren. Tell me, is Jordan a Nazi state for killing thousands of Palestinians during black September? What about your own country for closing the border with Gaza. Are you the citizen of a Nazi state? What about Russia, for distributing mines shaped like toys in Afghanistan so that children would find them and lose limbs? They killed a MILLION Afghans. Of course not, the Islamic fundamentalists need AK-47s for their jihads...
38. GUH
CEK ,   The US of A   (01.08.09)
If hamas cares so much about it citizens, why do they continue firing rockets? Those rockets can't hurt the IDF. I think you need to consider the fact that hamas uses its people as weapons. If they get killed - that is good for hamas! Liberals like you and some of the arabs get all upset and shout "war crimes" and all kinds of nazi slogans. Personally I think israel should raze the gaza strip and re-occupy it and be done with it. Israel gave the gazans a chance when they pulled out in 2005 and ll the gazans did was use the land to fire rockets. To hell with them... i am sick of muslim terror - wipe it out!
39. to Isis: Don' t cry for Hamas
Hans ,   Germany   (01.08.09)
Sort them out and the rest of the Palestinians will live in peace. Thats what it is about.
40. Isis #27
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.09.09)
Sorry to tell you the facts, but you need them. Over 90% of the Arab deaths have been male, and of those over 80% were between 16 and 25. So your claims are false. Now on our side, 80% are female and over half are under 10 or over 60 years of age. So who is targeting civilians again?
41. to #11
David ,   San Francisco, USA   (01.09.09)
You may think the solution is to give the terrorists back "their" land, but the Israelis believe just as strongly that the land belongs to Israel, with claims going back 3000 years. How do you solve two groups both thinking they own someplace, especially when one side (the Palestinians) is completely unwilling to let the other live in freedom on any part at all? The only answer is all out war to the end of one side or the other, so "disproportionate" force by the Israelis makes complete sense from their point of view, and none of your arguments hold any water to them, or me for that matter. The same question, and answer, sadly, repeats itself on the larger stage of Islam in general in relation to the rest of the world in general.
42. To #5, that's why Israel,
David ,   San Francisco, USA   (01.09.09)
and the West in general, simply had better be stronger and more tenacious than Hamas, and Islam in general. There is no other solution, because no other options besides complete submission by (or death of) Israel, and the West in general, is really acceptable to the Palestinians, and to Islam in general unless they are completely and utterly crushed until they abandon such foolish notions. It is their complete unwillingness to compromise on allowing anybody to live freely outside control of Islam that makes them impossible to deal with in any other way, and they are so unwilling because they think God told them to be just so, which obviously makes it hard to use just words to convince them otherwise.
43. #35, #36
Hicham el Guerrouj   (01.09.09)
#36- I suggest you read Naeim Giladi. He will tell you straight up what this "Arab cruelty" really was. #35- As for you, the Mossad and IDF wanted this by numerous provocations, including the Lavon Affair and the 1956 Suez War- unfortunately, Abdul-Nasser played right into Ben-Gurion's hands.
44. Prophetic Christian Scripture indicates...
Rich ,   USA   (01.09.09)
Scripture fortells an 'end-times' event when apparently most of the nations of the world are represented in a force, or in support of a force which is aligned collectively against Israel. Note: This possibly could be translated as the "United Nations", instead of the 'nations united'...something to ponder. Anyway...they get their collective butts kicked by Israel's returning Messiah. As a Christian, I believe this is the Lord Yeshua, who returns in the nick of time to deliver Israel, once they have acknowledged their offence and His true identity. It is interesting that He about kills everyone aligned against Israel...I believe He totally wipes out the Palestinian people as well. Not very 'proportional' is it? Gee, too bad, God gets to act as harshly as He sees fit. All you Islamics, Palestinian or otherwise, who are so full of hatred and violence in your hearts...You are going to be annihalated for your actions against God's chosen people the Jews! Lots of Jews may be killed first, I don't know, but the Jews as a nation and people will emerge victorious due to divine intervention. There is one God...the God of the Jews, and His name isn't Allah. You Islamics have been deceived and born into a religion of hatred, deception, and murderous violence...this isn't a religion from the Almighty God, but from the pit of Hell. If you will repent, the Jews will be happy to live in peace with you...it is the Islamics which spread the scourge of vicious terrorism all over the globe. Secular Israel is not without sin and their own blindness...but they will be delivered, eventually, for the vast majority only wish good for mankind and desire peace.
45. obama wants to negoiate with hamas.
debra ,   usa   (01.09.09)
israel needs to stick to its guns. DO WHAT IS GOOD FOR ISRAEL, not what outsiders want.
46. Arabs want gentle treatment while eliminating Israel
Sam ,   Canada   (01.09.09)
Arabs want to be treated with great gentleness while trying to demolish the Jewish state that is unacceptable to them. Any Jew anywhere in the world is an acceptable target for Arab terror groups but Arabs want to be treated with great dignity and respect by the same Jewish people they want to eliminate.
47. Sad(?) but True
Jonathan   (01.09.09)
Just look at the facts. If the Hizbulla in the north was not afraid of a disproportioned attack there - they would have attacked us long ago. Unfortunately, we are not dealing with rational 'partners' as our neighbours.
48. #43 - Hicham, Google the word "Farhud"
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (01.09.09)
Google the word "Farhud". As for Naeim Giladi, he has been discredited. Seeing as we're spinning historical facts here, what "really" happened in Aleppo in December 1947, in which my parents were ethnically cleansed from the place my ancestors called home for over 2500 years? Got an answer for that?
49. #48- that your parents stayed in Syria for 2500 years
Hicham el-Guerrouj ,   Berkane, Morocco   (01.09.09)
Most of which (a good 1300 years) was dominated my Arab Muslims your ancestors did not leave only indicates that you found no problem with life in Syria... you are only complaining now to prevent Palestinians from returning to their homes. Got an answer for that?
50. Oh, you & the Gaza folk are discovering what the............
Cameron ,   USA   (01.09.09)
Israeli "answer" is to those who follow the path of Farfour, #49. Their home is Gaza, and if they can't make their peace with history & reality, they will be scattered to the winds. The attempts to reasonably settle disputes with the Arab World are over. No peace for the Jews, and there will be none for the Arabs. No more patience left.
51. #22 - Tara - Proportionally Stupid
Chocko ,   NY, USA   (01.09.09)
So Ms Kennedy. Would you have called ancestors of yours such as Michael Collins, Eamon DeValera and of course Padraig Pearse 'Terrorists'. Because thats where your logic goes. The British forces in 1916 and in 1919 called them terrorists. Who are the Gazan's able to call when state terrorism is visited upon them. Or are you of the opinion that anyone in Gaza is a terrorist. You make it sound like everyone that Israel and the Bush Administration say are terrosrists must be Terrorists, because thats what they tell me to believe. Do yourself a favour, read a book, any book, it doesnt matter, because you are obviously a child who got access to the Internet.
52. Motivation of unilateral withdrawal was NOT Israels security
Observer   (01.09.09)
True reason that forced Israel to take unilateral action was demographic since holding on to Gaza was about to result in Jewish minority on the land it controlled. Secondly, Israel wanted Gaza to disasocciate from West Bank occupation in order to continue the later. How can you conclude about misconceptions if you can't even correctly identify the premisses?
53. taviou lahem barosh gvar la rotzhim chel hamas
dovdevan ,   ashdod eretz israel   (01.09.09)
54. #43 Egyptian persecution began 6 years before Lavon affair
EgyptJewRefugee ,   Geneva, Switzerland   (01.09.09)
#43. Lavon affair began in 1954. Persecution of Egyptian Jews began in 1948, 6 years before Lavon Affair. Result: 40,000 Egyptian Jews left for Israel.
55. #54- very vague
Hicham el Guerrouj   (01.09.09)
Describe this persecution in 1948 and explain to me why they didn't leave then- why it took until the expulsion after the Suez War (what Ben-Gurion was trying to provoke the whole time) that 40,000 Jews left.
56. No 43. Iraqi Jews were killed by Iraqis, not IDF
Massouda ,   Monte Carlo, Monaco   (01.09.09)
No 43 Iraqi Jews were murdered by Iraqi crowds, not the IDF. Our bussinesses and homes were expropriated by the Iraqi Government, not Israel.
57. Iron fist method
Edith Gagnon ,   Toronto, Ontario   (01.09.09)
Yes, from the long list of wars Israel has had to fight, we can deduce that it definitely hasn't brought about any lasting peace to use the iron fist so I fail to understand your reasoning?? While I whole-heartedly support Israel in its plight to have a peaceful life, I cannot understand its methods. Past large incursions have obviously failed to secure such a peace and I don’t know if anyone is paying attention, but the rockets are still raining on its people. Israel needs to engage in talks with Hamas and Iran. Engagement doesn’t mean endorsement. I recall a time when Arafat, Fatah’s leader, was Israel’s sworn enemy. Today we hear of Fatah as “friendly” to Israel. It was once Fatah’s aim to destroy Israel yet today they are viewed as the “solution”for Palestine. How many times can history repeat itself? It took years for Israel to talk with Arafat(and vice-versa), how many years will it take for her to speak with Hamas? The onus to broker a peace doesn’t rest solely on Israel’s shoulder but on all the players in that part of the world. Hamas cannot be taken seriously as a government if it persists on attacking its neighbour and advocating for the destruction of Israel. Rock and rocket throwing hasn’t produced a prosperous Palestine as Gazans are worse off today than they have ever been and Hamas is proceeding with these methods at the peril of its people. Israel exists and will always exist. The focus needs to be on the best interest of the people. An enemy of peace, is an enemy of all people. Israel, Iran, Syria: all need to work together to make this great part of the world free of violence. There is no State that is completely evil and no State which is completely good. Portraying one another as such is fruitless. Somewhere there needs to be a stop to the modern-day commie witch-hunt type attitude towards the world of Islam. As well, there needs to be a stop to the denial of Israel’s right to exist. A bit of respect will go a long way. Let the legacy of the powers that be in both Gaza and Israel, to their children, be A CHILDHOOD. Time for change people… Edith Gagnon 233 Pleasant Ave T.O. 416.753.4051 416.737.9543
58. forgot one important fact....
Matt ,   US   (01.09.09)
The authors views are flawed in the fact you can never kill every terrorist and every terrorist leader. And if you try, they are usually replaced by someone who is worse. The killing of militants and their leaders only encourages anger and a desire for revenge. Have you ever heard heard of militant leader being killed and then the orginaztion just gave up? Murders and assinanations are only fuel to the fire. I am not suggesting you don't kill them, I merely suggesting this is not the only path to take. Look at how the US killed Al-Zarqaowi in Iraq. They thought once he was dead, the insurgents would just give up. Wrong! (like everything else Bush did and thought) He was replaced and they are still fighting today. Israel is lost in a vicous circle and will never find its way out, probably leading to their county's demise Instead of imprisoning and murdering the Palisitans, they should invest in the future and try to help them become and free an peaceful people. Like how the US encouraged and funded the Sunni revolt against Al-Queda terrorists. By bombing schools , western style univeristies, and mosques, and killing hundreds of innocent civilans, Israel is not making any friends or doing themselves any favors in this war. They are only fanning the flames of hate that are raging in every Arab and Palistinian.
59. In praise of harsh response
Avj Joshua ,   Ramat Hasharon, Isr   (01.09.09)
