1. Are you enough brave to boycott our airport?
Ahmet ,   Içel, Turkey   (01.14.09)
2. these are the people hamas want as international observers
zionist forever   (01.14.09)
I am sure we can trust the islamist turks to make sure there is no smuggling and make sure there is no terror. Whoever does eventually replace the IDF on the Gaza borders then they must have muscle and be allowed to shoot terrorists. They cannot all come from a single country and they cannot be arabs, muslim or PA. If there are going to be any arab or muslim states providing troops then they can only be a small part of an international western dominated force.
3. TO AHMET + ALL TURKS
AD KAN   (01.14.09)
NEXT TIME YOUR COUNTRY SUFFERS FROM AN EARTHQUAKE, STAND PROUD IN YOUR CONVICTIONS AND BOYCOTT THE ISRAELIS THAT ALWAYS COME TO HELP WITH THE RESCUE!! I SPIT IN YOUR FACE YOU UNGRATEFUL SWINE.
4. Very sad as had a few nice holidays
peggy ,   Israel   (01.14.09)
in Turkey and was planning another...I say was, because have now decided on Malta! Turkish economy will suffer, not just from Israeli tourism, but many more who will weigh up the situation.
5. Overacting, people - don't be annoying
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (01.14.09)
The sign was an isolated incident. There are people who hate Israel everywhere. In actuality, Turks are quite supportive of Israel as they understand the dangers of fundamentalistic Islam. I was in Istanbul recently and was surprised at how many people were friendly, and supportive of Israel. Don't be annoying and start a fight where there is none. Turkey is a valuable ally.
6. to turks and israelis
fish israel   (01.14.09)
I would caution my compatriots against criticizing Turkey so harshly, current government there and a big chunk of population isn't very pro-western and of course not pro-israeli. But the secular/military elite of Turkey is very much for co-operation with us, and we do have a valuable partnership with Turkey on many levels. It saddens me of course to see such blind hatred of Turks in the streets to what essentially is an old conflict between two religions and civilizations. I would also call on Turks to look in the mirror more closely before they accuse us, they have similar problems with Kurdish isurgents, and a big portion of population which would gladly turn Turkey into an Islamic state, and then goodbye to all Turkish achievements, and off with the portaiats of Ataturk. I pray that we will still stay if not friends, then at least not enemies - none of our nations need that. With sadness, respect and love.
7. Antalya seemed very pro-Israel
Gilan ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.14.09)
When the wife and I took a honeymoon in Antalya, Turkey 3 months ago, the place seemed very pro-Israel. There were Israelis and Israeli flags everywhere, and it seemed that all the shopkeepers knew rudimentary Hebrew. At the time Antalya was the #1 international flight destination for Israelis. We had a great time, all the locals were friendly.
8. UNGRATEFUL BASTARDS
SHOSH ,   ISRAEL   (01.14.09)
HOW MUCH WE SUPPORTED AND HELPED THE TURKS, BUT AS USUAL THEY ARE UNGRATEFUL AND WILL REMAIN UNGRATEFUL. THEY CAN GO TO THE TERRORISTS TO HELP THEM LIVE...
9. Ahmet, do not even consider 'Ad Kan's'...
Kev ,   London   (01.14.09)

10. DONT NEED

12. Boycott!
Hipo Kirat ,   Istanbul, Turkey   (01.14.09)
Your reportage mentiones a Tour operator suggesting an anti-semitic slogan was three years old! I would like to draw your attention to the fact that only last week a Pro-Pan-Turkish 'Association' in Eskisehir Province put a sign to its door saying: "Dogs may enter!Armenians and Jews may not! " This is Turkish nationalism for you. We are in the process of filing a complaint about this. Knowing the fervent institutional racism in the Turkish Judiciary, and blatant racism; the likelihood that it will be prosecuted is dubious.
13. Verifying my earlier comment
Hipo Kirat ,   Istanbul Turkey   (01.14.09)
Please have a look at the below web address. This is a quote from Radikal newspaper, a quality broadsheet in Turkey. The banners read: "Dogs are free to enter! " "Armenians and Jews cannot enter from this door!" http://www.radikal.com.tr/Default.aspx?aType=RadikalDetay&ArticleID=916507&Date=12.01.2009&CategoryID=77
14. you lost the partner of turkey forover
ARMAGEDON ,   TURKEY   (01.14.09)
if israil boykot to turkey tourism ı think will be harmful for israil.so in Turkey govern have strong trump for example restoration of weapon.for this cause turkey paid more money to israil.and last things you need a partner in the middle east.and you had only a friend this area the turkey after last your attack already lost the turkish friend forever
15. Protests in Turkey
(01.14.09)
http://www.radikal.com.tr/Radikal.aspx?aType=RadikalDetay&ArticleID=915950&Date=08.01.2009&CategoryID=77 Pls. check the link above. Unfortunately there are a lot of protests against Israel in Turkey and the picture in the link above is from last week. Location is Eskisehir City in Turkey, saying "Dogs can enter and Jews and Armenians can not enter. The local government did not open a court case against this although it is definetely a racist sign. Also unfortunately, it was already published in one of newspapers that friendship of two friends one jew and the other muslim was terminated in one school because of banning of the muslim parents their child to be in contact with his jewish friend. Yesterday all schools in Turkey stood for 1 minute in order to express solidarity with Gaza. Flags were put in half for that period of time. So, unfortunately there is as always tendency to start antisemite actions in Israel's wars and nobody is interested in the Isareli side of view. The Jewish Community is keeping low profile in the media as always for the sake of security of Jews in Turkey. Hope that all will end soon and peace will be established in the region. Shalom
16. Photo may be old, but hostility not isolated
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (01.14.09)
"The fish stinks from the head", as my father used to say. And politicians at the top set the tone. So when Erdogan accuses Israel of atrocities, saying it will be "punished by Allah", that gives license to the populace. That's why one hears that synagogues are being attacked, and signs like "Dogs allowed. Jews and Armenians not allowed" have appeared. Does that mean all Turks are evil and to be avoided? Not exactly, but avoiding Turkey is the common man's way of expressing displeasure at the hostility. We see that hostility even within the talkbacks. But it would appear that the hostility correlates closely to just how "Islamic" one is and, by extension, how closely one feels to the Muslim "umma". There's a lesson there.
17. You couldnt pay me to go to turkey
Efroim ,   Washington DC   (01.14.09)
Dont care for those turkeys..
18. Turkey to EU now!
Joo ,   Eurabia   (01.14.09)
With such level of antisemitism Turkey approaching very high european standards of jew-hating.
19. Israelis don't bring any money into Turkey
Turkey & Israel   (01.14.09)
Israelis come to Turkey to cheap places for cheap holidays and it's only good for charter flights. Worse, as all Israelis know very well, Israelis steal lots from Turkish hotels and airports. Whenever a flight from or to Israel is the case, Turkish airport shops staff are in a high security alert. This has also been published in Israeli newspaper several times, and I was told by this by Israelis too. This is the truth. Israelis, please behave yourselves.
20. turkey can be comapred to a gazan toilet
JL ,   israel   (01.14.09)
the people to what drops in....screw turkey
21. About relations
TURKISH SWORD   (01.14.09)
Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo( Branch of Hamas) told Turks to stop killing Kurds before Gaza strike of IDF. I invite all Israelis to the hotels & airports of Turkey !!! even to my home.Turkey knows very well what is terrorism and aware of qassams,katyushas..etc. I'm expecting more military ties. People know who is who except ignorants.
22. I went to Turkey
Korem ,   New York, USA   (01.14.09)
I went to Turkey in 2005 and had a great time. The people were friendly, I told everyone I was Israeli and they either didn't mind or were curious and asked questions. A lot of the bazaar shopkeepers even knew a little Hebrew. I have trouble believing that the entire population could have changed so much in mentality from then and now. All I know is, you can't judge a country by talkbacks. Then even the USA will seem like a massive anti-Israel nation. To all Turks who feel absolute hatred towards Israel, good, so we can distinguish the garbage from the intelligent.
23. #3 SHAMEFUL
Turkey & Israel   (01.14.09)
It is embarrasing to talk about and use the good you have done to someone. If you help someone you never use or abuse it afterwards if you are an honest and sincere helper. If we go with the way of thinking of #3and his supporters' talkback, it looks like #3 and his supporters help others with other interests in mind and use it as leverage in the future. How ugly is that?! Turks rescued hundreds of thousands Jews from Spanish inquisition 1492, Turks rescued Jewish academics from the Nazis in 1930s and 1940s, Turkish diplomats rescued thousands of Jews by risking their own lives in Greece, France, Italy and from the camps across Europe during the WWII. And, you know what, they rescued Jews in the name of humanity, not for future ugly mentions of their help in the talkbacks as opposed to #3 and its supporters. Despite those hateful and senseless talkbacks, I want to believe that there are still sensible and sincere people out there.
24. I have been VERY pro-Turk. Still like Turks, not government
Zi   (01.14.09)
Turks as people are fine. A lot of them are not even happy with their government. But the AK is a disaster for Turks. Supporting terrorists against democracies is never a good move.
25. Friendship between Turkey&Israel
Erdem ,   TURKIYE   (01.14.09)
This things really hurtful. Many of Turkish people like your people and i have too many good Jew friend. I think Turkey and Israel must support to each other. We support your fight againist to Hamas. Hamas=PKK=El Kaide These are terrorist organizations Sincerely from Turkey....
26. Holiday in Turkey
David ,   UK   (01.14.09)
My family plus other friends were going to Turkey for holiday. Now we support Israel and we will cancell our trip to Turkey. We must boycott Turkey
27. Israeli's should boycott Turkey
Moishe Alexander ,   Thornhill Canada   (01.14.09)
Turkey is a democratic country that should understand that if rockets were being fired into Turkey, they would certainly respond the same way as the Israeli's, or ay other country for that matter. For Turkey to oppose the Gaza operations, are they saying if a country started firing rockets into Turkey, that they wouldn't defend themselves? Of course they would. Their political leaders should step up to the plate and support Israel and even offer them any assistance they might need, including troops, and military equipment.
28. let turkey deal iwth its own skeletons
bob ,   potomac usa   (01.15.09)
the massacres of Greeks when the Turks took over Asia Minor--the slave trade, the jihad murders of the Armenians, the fact that to speak Kurdish in the Turkish Parliament will land you 10 years in prison. they aren't Kurds--they're "Mountain Turks"
29. turkey
Abraham ,   Montreal Canada   (01.15.09)
When you stupid Israelis will understand that you should not travel to Turkey or any other Arab/Muslim country? Did you ever ask your self where is the financial support to Hamas, Hezballa and others come from? It comes from from your hotel, restaurant, gifts etc purchases. You can also send plain loads of help and they still will be UNGRATEFUL.
30. Maybe that pict's not recent . . .
Michelle   (01.15.09)
B"H There are plenty of recent pictures that DO show the hate of the Turks against the Israelis right now. Check out alfassa.com's website for the latest--including anti-Jewish advertisements on the bus terminals which have been paid for by the city of Istambul! Seriously, Ynet. You need to look further than Turkey's ministry of tourism to get your facts straight.
