Why is it bad form to criticize the government during battle? We know that they are going to do. The more they deny the quicker they do it. The cease fire is within kadima's interests, not the country mind you but certainly theirs. We have supported them in the war and they have fought it well. Why not continue and finish the job. Why wait another month, 2, 3 or year? Why does the enemy, loser at that get to dictate terms? What about what we want? What about our security. Remember if one of them survives they will claim victory. The only real point you made was Obama will be bad for us. Clinton will be our demise. Unfortunately the government will leave Gaza WITHOUT Shalit. He was never in their plans and they will not jeoperdize their political future for one soldier. As a nation we would, as a politician they won't. We will have won the war but ultimately as we appear to do over and over, will lose the peace as we are run by corrupt, incompetent self serving individuals who view the citizenry as a liability. When they understand they are only a voice and our voice things will change but certainly not with this government. Ban couldn't care less about us and frankly either does the rest of the world. But then again they don't care about the enemy either. FINISH THE JOB so we can all get some sleep.....

You make some excellent points which I generally agree with. You're right - Hamas should not be totally destroyed. We have no interest in regime change for the moment. However, there are degrees of damage to Hamas & we have not hurt them badly enough. We can force them into a humiliating truce, get Shalit back (if he's alive), & make it evident even to Arabs that they have been defeated. But, you certainly have the right idea.
33. Even if Joe #22 is right....

Daily cheap rockets should be sent in the densely populated areas of Gaza(UN will be happy with such fairness).Ever day.Tens of rockets.Very cheap ones not to lose money with these almost camels beings. Let the Gaza population live in constant terror while we plan their end from our side. Let´s use some of their means and our brains.I am pretty sure they don´t have too many choices.I might be wrong but I don´t think so. But ,in my opinion, the most important is not to lose the sight towrds a resolution. It is too imbecile run after one owns tail for so long. Politics should start dealing with reality and not with some kind of very ill delusion.
34. #22- unconditional surrender the same as Japan
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (01.15.09)
After an unconditional surrender which might be close. Hamas is disarmed and all smuggling tunnels destroyed and leaders like Haniyeh arrested and put on trial. Only then can open borders be discussed. Anything short of the above will be a short term solution. Mike

mike cato ,   usa   (01.15.09)
Any Israeli leader who agrees to a so-called "truce" at this moment in the IDF operation, is a traitor, i.e. giving the enemy breathing space and time to rearm, reorganize and attack again, always knowing that the Zoonited Nations and the European Onion will rescue them at the last moment when things get too hot. No truce until we see a white flag from Hamas.
36. TRUCE TALK
EDDIE ,   NEW YORK USA   (01.15.09)
ISRAEL SHOULD NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING ABOUT A CEASE-FIRE... THEY SHOULD WIPE HAMAS OUT WITHOUT ANY HESITATION... ITS NOW OR NEVER, SO DO IT NOW
37. When Hamas Surrenders
Wil ,   USA   (01.15.09)
That's when this war needs to be over and NOT BEFORE. The world, anti-semites excluded, wants a clear victory over terrorism. For once, finish the job.
38. cease fire
m ,   jerusalem   (01.15.09)
the reason behind the cease fire isn't because israel is nice or safe its because they came to the conclusion that you cannot terminate hamas this way all they did was make it more powerful most palestinians have turned from voting fatah to voting hamas after the way that their government reacted to israels assault. Everyone knows that muslims turn to allah everytime they have a problem, well this is a big problem for them so guess what more of them have turned into extremists, its like an infestation you can't get rid of!
39. End of Israel
Dee ,   Mi/USA   (01.16.09)
If Israel accepts, Hamas (Iran)will not quit and they will continue their dirtywork. I don't see why the world can't see this. Israel didn't start this, they wanted peace.
