So the result of 2 1/2 weeks of combat is the status quo ante as of Dec 26. In addition, Hamas gets credit for defeating the IDF (by just surviving) and will get masses of free money from the EU to be used to shore up its popularity in the Strip. The two week limit is a joke. Is really any possibility of restarting hostilities? Olmert and company are kidding themselves and the country if they truly believe that is a credible threat.

if reports are true then the idf has just surrendered. hamas is not called on to end the missile attacks in the truce. spokesman for pm says idf incursion was only about slowing the flow opf rocket fire, there is no way to stop it. he also says cities like ashdod and sderot will just have to get used to an occasional rocket. so for two weeks hamas will get to rearm and iran will pour troops and supplies in gaza and the next time the idf comes calling it will get beat and badly. taht will suit olmert just fine. what jews should do is to vote in the most hardcore rightwing jew they can find in israel and next time missiles land on israel annihilate damsacus and tehran. tell the united states to stay out of israel's business.
