61. I am really SCHOCKED !!!
Nir ,   Germany   (01.18.09)
Unfortunately We lost the war. None of the objectives were achieved. Hamas is even much stronger and popular everywhere in the world. A new era has just started. Abbas will fall very soon and all Pals. will be Hamas. I think this defeat is much worse than Lebanon war. Our army was not even able to enter the heart of Gaza city and take it from a MILITIA which has nothing compared to the technology and weaponary we have. HAMAS, YOU WON :(
62. #59 - if you order next meal is will come soon
Bob Allison ,   UK   (01.18.09)
63. World wins; Zionists lost
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (01.18.09)
Israel's cowardly murdering army has lost yet again, despite all the might of US weaponry in its hands. Now let's hope the occupying invaders get their comeupance.
64. Charles #58
Steve   (01.18.09)
If you were a "smarter and understanding" non-Jew or non-Jewish Jew, you would have more sympathy for the Jews living in Sderot and other areas in the south, who are under daily rocket fire. If you were a man of moral or physical courage, and not a coward, you would move to Sderot instead of piously and contemptuously opining from the relative security of Petach Tikva.
65. #20 Dav - To Answer your question
meir elazar   (01.18.09)
I served in the war in Lebanon in 1984. I also worked in the defense industry on some of the projects that are major successes in the war on terror. That is about all that I am allowed to say on the subject due to security clearance issues.
66. The Nation must know all her heroes by name
Michael ,   Moscow, US   (01.18.09)
As they said in Russia ‘The Nation must know all her heroes’. Therefore I suggest publicizing a list of those government ministers voted in favor of a unilateral seize-fire. And also their phone numbers and home addresses so people can express richly deserved gratitude towards them
67. If you call this a victory what would a defeat be to you?!!!
Maria ,   Arab   (01.18.09)
You said :" WE WON" The truth is Gilad is still with Hamas, and rockets are still fired from Gaza. So what would a defeat be to you? Hamas reaching Tel Aviv !!!! and to # 59 , We are all with you ,you are right ,this is our land ,trust in God and have faith in him , never surrender to such loosers, we're all proud of your resistance. Parties like Hamas and Hezbollah make us proud to be Arabs.
68. ALLAH AKBAR
Ahmed ,   Cairo, Egypt   (01.18.09)
Allah AKBAR. After all the killing and the war crimes committed by the your army, you are still defeated at the end. You were not able to realize anything on ground. Hamas is still intact, Abbas will INSHALLAH fall very soon. Winners: 1-Hamas and all resistance forces in Gaza Loosers: 1-Abbas and his regieme 2-Israel on int'l scale (military and politicaly) 3-Egypt Mubarak lost big time 4- The whole west. (nobody can come and give us lectures about human rights while leaving ppl. dying like that) ALLAH AKBAR.
69. Michael in "moscow" US
Arie ,   BaGolan   (01.18.09)
We know who our heroes are...and they are NOT the 1%ers who voted to stop! The objectives have not been met:hamass is still alive and Shalit has not been released. Until that is accomplished, Tzahal needs to continue!
70. #59 salameh_ Have you looked outside your window?
Arie ,   BaGolan   (01.18.09)
You have truly achieved a great victory!Your 'leaders' in hamass are hiding in their roach holes afraid - even after your great victory-to come out; and what an amazing victory you experienced - your buildings destroyed, your terror facilities turned into graveyards; and finally an understanding that when Tzahal says enough is enough, you should be prepared to bend over and kiss your allah-loving arse goodbye - all in the name of your victory of course!
71. Congatulations Hamas!
Dirk Diggler ,   Paterson USA   (01.18.09)
The steadfast and heroic resistance fighters of the Hamas have inflicted an historic defeat against the IOF. Once again the rulers of the apartheid state have ran away in the face of steadfast resistance, just as they did before Hizbullah. The days of this evil state are soon at an end, once a nation's leaders are not willing to fight for survival then it will fall not long after. These cowards slaughtered innocent women and children from the air, yet the rockets of resistance still flew towards the occupier. Today is a day that all Palestinians should be proud of. They have scored a voctory against the fearsome war machine of the Zionist occupation forces, just as their brothers did in 2006. The myth of Israeli invincibility has been irrevocably shattered upon the anvil of resistance.
72. #26 David - I DO NOT ENDORSE THE CEASEFIRE
meir elazar   (01.18.09)
Please see my comment #1 to see my position. Secondly, they are speaking about a ceasefire and not WITHDRAWL. In other words, HAMAS has already declared that they will not accept the conditions of the Cease FIRE. The three stooges are probably planning to tell the world, here we unilaterally did a ceasefire and HAMAS continues the rocket attacks. This is totally unnecessary since HAMAS specifically launches rockets during stated "pauses" for aid. Every one has already made up their minds and the facts are irrelevant. The anti-Semites don't give a damn about 8 years of constant terror and 10000 rockets and mortars fired against our citizens, etc. At this point the only solution is the total destruction of HAMAS and expulsion of everyone in Gaza. We have suffered nearly 100 years of terror and there is no hope that HAMAS will accept anything less than our destruction and murder. As such they have forfeited all rights to continue in Gaza and must be totally removed one way or another. I hope that this is pretty clear.
73. The rockets still landing what was motivation of Gaza operat
e.m Jordan is Palse ,   s.f   (01.18.09)
An other stupidly like a disengagement from Gaza why don’t you finish the job they are still firing those rockets to Israeli civilians and Israel declares unilateral Gaza truce, You are idiots
74. Isreal better off now!
(01.18.09)
I have argued all along since this war began that if a key objective of Israel is to delegitimise Hamas, it does not make sense, from an Israeli perspective, to be part of a ceasefire agreement in which Hamas is also a party. It would be more logical, again looking at this from an Israeli perspective, to make a unilateral statement: We stop the bombing as of today or Monday or whatever; Here are the new rules; if so much as a coke can is thrown over the Israel-Gaza border, we send in an F-16 - there is no ceasefire that restrains us, so if we get intelligence that a particular Hamas leader is in a particular house, since there is no ceasefire, we send in the missiles. You have, more or less, a situation of open-ended conflict, but the main offensive will have ended. You will have a situation very much like what we have had since 2002 – the big Israeli invasion in the West Bank at the time.
75. Idiots--What would Ben Gurion have done?
David ,   Montreal, Canada   (01.18.09)
76. Truce
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (01.18.09)
#59 is 100% correct.( and it pains me to say that) Olmert had said, a few years ago, that he was tired of fighting and tired of winning. It seems he still feels that way!
77. Read This
Mark Vegas ,   UK   (01.18.09)
I know that you are not going to post my comment. Husballa Won, Hamas Won. Israel DEFEATED , Israel can only destroy building and kill kids, but coward soldiars , now face to face fight
78. Abandoning soldiers is shameful
Rod ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.18.09)
...one of the most shameful things a country can do is to abandon its soldiers. By abandoning Gilad Shalit, Kadima have lost any respect that they gained from me in the last 21 days. It shows that the operation was intended to boost Kadima politically, it was not about Israel. Shame !!!!
79. You Killed Many Hundreds of Civilians for This?
Jerry ,   NYC, USA   (01.18.09)
About 700 dead Palestinian civilians, mostly the old, women and children (who could not run away from your murderous rampage) and about 400 dead Hamas fighters. All based on 18 dead Israelis over the last 4 years? And what have you achieved? You have blackened Israel's image almost completely. The world hates you now. You elected Imbeciles to lead you (Kadima & Labor). Change your leaders now before it is too late.
80. evidence of phosphorus bombs in Gaza
observer   (01.18.09)
there was mounting evidence to confirm reports that Israel is using white phosphorus as a smokescreen for the incursions by its tanks and troops into residential areas. Phosphorus, which is illegal under Geneva Treaty of 1980 in built-up areas, causes terrible burns. Video showing injuries consistent with the use of white phosphorus shells has been filmed inside hospitals treating Palestinian wounded in Gaza City. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jan/16/phosphorus-bombs-video-israel-gaza
81. Palestine's message to Israelis
muhannad ,   famagusta, cyprus   (01.18.09)
israel lost its war against gaza, olmert says objectives have been accomplished i say in ur dreams, israel just killed more than 1200 innocent people including more than 400 children, with all ur army u couldnt do anything to hamas and other freedom fighters, israel couldnt stop rocket launching, after this war each and every palestinian is with hamas, and its obvious israel dont want peace which even abbas knows it, even though abbas is pro-israel, so my message for every israeli : you should go back to ur senses and seek peace because its a rising of a new era which all of ur technology and army forces wont help u, so israel must start seeking peace just as we palestinians have been seeking peace for more than 60 years, when your grandfathers started coming to palestine ( our land) we welcomed you and there was no problems, and without any reason we palestinians are paying the price of what hitler have done to the jews in ww2, the next 2 months will be important for this region its will decide if there will be peace or war, i prefer peace, and every palesitnian prefer peace, so its just in your hands.. in this war more than 1200 palesitnian ( all civilians) were killed, and 13 israel were killed ( 10 soldiers and 3 settlers no civilians) all of us know whos the real terrorist now, its the israeli government, im shocked from myself why after all this killing that happened in gaza i still want peace, its just no more innocent people should die, one state solution will be much better for both sides, im sure not one israeli want to suffer how the gazans suffered in this war, but im sure that this is the last chance for peace and it should be taken and peace should rise in this region, no more killing, if this chance is not taken, there will be war that wont end unless one of us (palestine or what so called israel) will stay living, so it will be either palestinians or zionists, and everyone knows who will win, offcoarse palestinians will win,so if israelis have a mind and can think not just kill they will know whats the best for them and will seek peace,, im sure there is some good jews among you
82. To No 81
Mark ,   London, Uk   (01.18.09)
I think you have put a sensible analysis but I disagree with you on the 'fact' that 10 soldiers were only killed. Tens more have died and just wait for as couple of days when the IDF will claim that the resistance fighters ambushed their 'peace loving soldieres' in Gaza and killed a few. These will be actually the ones waiting in Israeli hospital freezers without the knowledge of their families.. time will tell..
83. Stupid, stupid, stupid!
Granny ,   Vermont USA   (01.18.09)
84. Never ever vote for the left
Matityahu ,   Slovenia   (01.18.09)
They fail at everything. Traitors to the country.
85. #47 Zionist forever ,first time you write something true
George ,   Canada   (01.18.09)
86. #81 your are honnest and naive you still dream about this t
George ,   Canada   (01.18.09)
tale ,peace.I know the Palestinian honestly want peace although they show the opposite in their flaming rhetoric, in the mean time Israeli don't want peace but keep advertising it, or more precisely Israeli want peace without you. God helps you guys you got the worst enemy that you could wishe.
87. Hurry February
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (01.18.09)
*"Olmert said Israel fully achieved the operation's objectives." LOL *"Gilad is at the top of our list of priorities," the PM said. LOL *"Hamas representative said the group will continue to fight as long as Israeli soldiers remain in the Strip." You can believe that. *Olmert said that for the time being the IDF would not be withdrawing from Gaza." There are more acts yet to come in this disaster. *TOTAL DISASTER; COULDN'T BE WORSE.
88. Who'll stop the rain?
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (01.18.09)
"At this point the only solution is the total destruction of HAMAS and expulsion of everyone in Gaza." Then the rockets would stop. They could also be stopped short of this extreme action by Israel establishing security control over Gaza.
89. WHAT THIS MEANS: Kadima is toast. But Bibi is just as bad
Marcella   (01.18.09)
There's no difference between the platform of Kadima and that of tough-talking Bibi. They both aim at more surrenders: West Bank, Gaza for ever, Jerusalem, Golan, the corridor between WB and Gaza.... Whoever votes for Netanyahu will deserve what's coming. Because voters can't claim they did not know. Netanyahu has made it very clear: he intends to pursue the same politics of appeasement, the same old Roadmap towards the surrender of Jewish land. Start campaigning for the nationalists. Stop the insanity of voting for the moderate left or center, because they don't have the true interests of Israel at heart.
90. #58 Charles is right
AY_lamb ,   USA   (01.18.09)
Look, Israel (or the GOV) that is in authority can't afford to appear the evil incarnation the goyim perceive them to be. Steve; (Man G_d and Water Walker worshiper) I am sorry you must wait for the uppity and perfidious Jews to meet your expectations. Don't regret or dwell in sorrow we will meet your holy expectations soon enough, now just isn't the day; you and Saul of Tarsus must wait. but your wait will be worth it i am sure.
