1. After war in Gaza Israel seriously undermined its image in the world
Ibrahim ,   Kazan, RUSSIA   (01.18.09)
2. Terminology
Sagi ,   Israel   (01.18.09)
"in case Hamas violates the truce". A truce by definition is an agreed upon ceasefire by two fighting sides. What we have in this situation is a unilateral cease fire. Hamas can only violate our good will and our good intentions. What we are violating is the intelligence of the Israeli public. .Once again our politicians are selling us a product that does not exist. We are no different than the Gazans. Politicians sell soiled goods and the public buy them, on both sides.
3. Nothing but double-talk ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.18.09)
Does anyone understand the concept of a unilateral ceasefire? Hamas is still shooting at us, firing missiles, isn't that a truce violation? The nonsense coming from the mouths of our trio of serial bunglers is surrealistic. Our leaders are like something out of a Monty Python movie. At least Monty Python was funny & clever ........ This is just tragic & stupid.
4. 6 from Gaza which is under Israel's controle?
observer   (01.18.09)
5. Nu ve?
yamit ,   Tel-Aviv Israel   (01.18.09)
This only proves that no matter what peace initiatives Israel will take, the other side will continue totally undisturbed by any human values that bother the rest of the world so much. I wish that those, who condemn Israel for defending its citizens, would come up with a reasonable solution that will avtually result in the other side stopping trying to kill everyone in site.
6. You still there!
Khalid ,   Yemen   (01.18.09)
As long as Israel still there and the borders are close what is the difference? Before you were killing them by air strike and bombs and now you are killing them by hunger.
7. very sad
anna   (01.18.09)
But if this is not proof that Hamas could care less about their own people then I do not know what is..
8. What A Surprice ?
Orao Stranka. ,   Tsarigrad u Srbia.   (01.18.09)
This could not be imagined by the Israeli Government that, Nothing is Achieved so far !. Orao.
9. To Ibragim
yamit ,   Tel-Aviv Israel   (01.18.09)
Dear Ibragim, I understand that people in the world are trying to make out what is actually going on here based on what they see on TV. The media normally caters for the political interests of those who pay for the media to cover the events the way they want them to be covered. But... we live here, and though I certainly do not hate Palestinians, or anyone else for that matter, I personally do not see what else we can do to save our citizens from rockets that continuously fall on us for 8 long years. What would you have done in such case?
10. Now it is interesting to see
TOM ,   USA   (01.18.09)
how UN and European media are going to react to these rockets. It is now UN and European's turn to show their "justice" and "concern", even though we all know what they will likely react.
11. Nu, did we answer the kassams this morning?
Wise Saba ,   Netivot   (01.18.09)
12. What about humanitarian aid?
yamit ,   Tel-Aviv Israel   (01.18.09)
Lhakid, check your sources. The humanitarian aid trucks are ALWAYS given free pass. Because WE DO NOT HATE PALESTINIANS!
13. unilateral cease fire
p k ,   tempe usa   (01.18.09)
HAmas has shown the world once again that they cannot be believed or trusted.
14. Yay... Back to the one sided ceasefire.
Zion   (01.18.09)
World protests will now cease to appear until Israel defends herself.
15. Israel what are u goin to do
Gaile McLean ,   cairns   (01.18.09)
I am astounded that you are prepared to sitback and allow this to continue. Go get them all and if your government is so weak to allow this I say vote another one in. We the silent majoritty support u. Kill every Hamas soldier and supporter this is theonly way u will livei n peace. Do not pay heed to the Usless for Nothing .If not you will find yoursel in another hitler situation .........Kill and persecute the Israeli people. GOD be with U. Don,t relent
16. To #6
TOM ,   USA   (01.18.09)
Are you saying there is no difference between ceasefire and fight? Or you enjoy seeing more bloody scenes? Open your eyes before opening your mouth.
17. To 4 - surely u arent tryin to . .. To 1 & 6
Fink Ployd   (01.18.09)
To 4 (cont...) surely u aren't trying to get anyone to think that we lobbed them in ; or is it, that - if we are still there, only after a few hours of doing what we did (& what the world has wanted - but not for that reason): calling a halt to pulverizing you to hell - then we have control of rocket fire -sure stupid observer - sure mate. To 1: we both know that this war has more to go, after your heroes in Syria, etc. failed to heed the chance to allow people to stop dying!! (& our world image is not why we fight...) To 6: We left there, remember - will again, once the people from there, via Fatah, oust the fascists.. & you know it Khalid.
18. In the next war
John ,   USA   (01.18.09)
In the next war Israel will be face a existence matter, since the Arabs and muslims now know that Israel is so weak and after some 23 days of fighting in Gaza they can't deal with a small group like Hamas... and for the second time in 3 years israel was defeated by Hizbulaah and now by Hamas, so what if the next war will happened from different fronts, and its duration will be for a long period say more than 6 months... israel now and in the future will face an existence matter.
19. HA HA GOALS ACHIEVED
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (01.18.09)
Well if this means that goals have been achieved one would hate to think when they are not. So once again the rockets will continuii to fall ,while our government shows its tired of winning. Basically we have become a pathetic bunch of loosers , who can not beat a bunch of grazed killers , no matter how much we throw at them. Now up to next round , with a better armed Hamas and Hizbullah.
20. NR 9 YAMIT
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (01.18.09)
Now here is a typical example of a defeatist apologist that walk our streets who kiss up to everything and everybody just to be accepted and liked. What could we have done Yamit laments , while making sure to show to the world that we love the people who hate us. What about shooting the crap out of them, the first time they dared to shoot at us and not wait for 8 years to make a move , that has been left unfinished. Now it would be interesting to see how dear Yamit would write ,when rockets start falling on his street . But to expect a little compassion for one's own people is to much to ask for , from our enlightend global thinkers .
21. #6 Khalid, yes we are and
peggy ,   Israel   (01.18.09)
we could have starved them a long while ago if that was our aim, but sadly your friends have made a black market profit on much humanitarian aid. Also proved by still shelling they dont care how many suffer for their own power. Shame on Hamas and their cruelty, but maybe you are blinded by your hate for us.
22. Sorry chickens
David ,   Florida, USA   (01.18.09)
They missed, sorry for the chickens, but it defiantley was a symbolic hit. Next we will hear the ZOO was hit, Hamas is trying to terrorize the Jewish animals. I feel bad for the people of Isreal, you lost your ability of free thinking, we should now call you Zion Clones, as in your brain washed.. Find the truth and you will see when you steal someones land, they will make life miserable for u until you leave, which will be soon.. go steal germany, there the only ones u have a right to be mad at. But u instead choose to fight people who welcomed you in when Germany was killing you... ITS A SHAME ON ALL JEWS>>
23. NO one is surprised
peggy ,   Israel   (01.18.09)
we can only hope this is a stratagy of some sort on Israels part. When I last looked up ceasefire it meant both sides stop shooting. Hamas has said they will carry on the fight, they seem to glory in death and suffering, They have violated every rule of war by purposely using civilians as sheilds, and I hope soon Fattah will rise up, say enough and maybe throw them off of high buildings.
24. isnt this how it always is with ceasefires
zionist forever   (01.18.09)
We dont shoot at them but its ok for them to shoot at us bit because we want to be the good guys who always uphold our part of the bargin we dont shoot back except maybe bombing an empty field now and again just to say look we got bombs we could use if we want. The only solution here is to see this war through to the natural ending and thats an ending which sees Hamas wekened so badly it will take years to get back to full strengh. Gilad Shalit returned. A long tern solution to the rocket problem. A solution to the smuggling Egypt cannot be trusted, for over three years we left it to Egypt they pretended their was no problem so it didnt cause them any problems.
25. israel
sam t   (01.18.09)
big big mistake to have a cease fire you still have not learnt a thing ! the world will always bash you the rockets will continue you have achieved nothing just as with hizbollah
26. KADIMA....OUT!!!!!!
moshe ,   ashkelon israel   (01.18.09)
A unilateral cease-fire by Israel is final proof of the continual bungling by our Kadima leaders. The must be decisively removed from office in the upcoming election. We must stop short of nothing but a complete and unconditional surrender by Hamas. No cease fires.
27. What will happen now
gaile McLean ,   Cairns   (01.18.09)
One week after September 11 a wise old lady told me that Bin Laden would never be captured. She also told me that I would be ok (61years old) my daughter (40 years old would be ok) but her grandchildren and my grandchilren would not be safe and would be persecuted and murdered by the muslims in Australia. FOOD FOR THOUGHT
28. To David
yamit ,   Tel-Aviv Israel   (01.18.09)
David, I must have confused you with my message. I am far from being apologetic to HAMAS. But, since I am a she, and not a he, I do feel sorry for those who suffer and die on both sides in any war. What I was trying to say is that our actions do not stem from hatred, but rather from the gross situation we have been put into. We have to fight, though I am sure we would have preferred normal good-neighbouring coexistence, wouldn't you?
29. #22 ignorance
ben Ish   (01.18.09)
Uninformed much? Let me help: ISRAEL WAS CREATED BY LAW. It's called reading books moron, you should try it. So explain to me how the Jews "stole" the land they are one? How? Explain. Spit it out. Stole what? Explain how we 'stole' the land that was given by law you coward. Let's hear it. GO. No other nation has ever been created by law before 1948. ALL nations, *including yours*, were created by blood, by sword, by invasion, slavery and murder and theft. It is ONLY ISRAEL that is the one legitimate nation on the planet. Spend more time reading instead of blabbering pathetically weak facades for your anti-semitic rhetoric.
30. NR 28 YAMIT
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (01.18.09)
Thanks for your reply ,yes it would be nice to have an neighbouring coexistence , problem is you need two sides for that to happen. As it is now , we have one failed government after another , because they are only negotiating with themselves , like a unilateral ceasefire , they are useless. It is like someone desperatly wanting to sell his house and keeps on lowering the price , while the buyer is not even sold on the property. One can not be desperate for peace , but make peace from a position off strentgh ,after utterly defeating your enemy , they have to beg for peace. Look how the USA got peace with Japan after dropping 2 A-bombs on them , not a nice thing to do but effective. War is a dirty business, one has the have the will to get dirty in order to win and not to give in to false superior humanistic values in the face of evil , that wants your demise.
