1. Oh what wonderful choices
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (01.19.09)
Netanyahu failed in the past and was kicked out, and some of us still remember why. Barak failed in the past and was kicked out, and some of us still remember why (leaving Lebanon without an agreement -> 2nd Lebanon war etc) and was the least effective leader in a war on Hamas where almost from day one he either apologized or predicted a cease fire. Livni has no real experience, and each time we have had a war with her as foreign affairs minister she has been sent out to do PR work while the "men" took the spotlight and did the "real work". None of them is suited to run the country, and their parties all have a variation on a theme in terms of what they want for the future, and not that big a variation either. None of the other parties has a chance, and none of the individual candidates has any personal accountability to do what is right rather than what their party head tells them. What Israel needs is to keep fighting Hamas (as we are bound to be doing by the end of the week) until it is crushed and a change in governmental structure that lets us really have new leadership not old failures.
2. The 1%ers put the last nail in their coffin!
Arie ,   BaGolan   (01.19.09)
They had the opportunity to finish the job in Aza: end hamasstan and free Shalit-they did neither. Instead, as they routinely do, their goal was to appease the enemy and their supporters! Come February 10th, we will remember how close we came to a proper conclusion. Yet, once again, the 1%ers blinked. Even the boots on the ground are angry that again Tzahal was not allowed to finish the job. Well,on February 10th, the citizens will finish the job and throw the 1% appeasers out!
3. Give the boots on the ground the freedom!
Arie ,   BaGolan   (01.19.09)
One sometimes has to discern between a political leadership that cares more for the state's enemy then its own citizens, and the temporary abdication of political liberty for the sake of safety and security. Without a secure State, there can never be a true democracy. Israel is now governed by weak, EXTREME left-wing corrupt politicos whose only goal is their self-aggrandizement and glory. Anti-state media, such as haaretz, has set the tone for the dismemberment of the State! Perhaps it is time to allow the military, and not the political hacks like barak and vilnai who only care about the State paycheck, to take command of a proper and complete response to the terrorist atrocities! An fixed election date for a return to power of the politicians can be set beforehand. But for now, Tzahal must act to protect the Negev, for if they do not, they will be reacting to attacks everywhere! we must be proactive, not reactive. And our politicians can handle neither!
4. Absurd
Ari   (01.19.09)
Only a complete idiot would agree with the statement that these "diplomatic achievements" are consistent with improving the security of the state of Israel. Want proof? Look at Resolution 1701. It was also Livini's work, a diplomatic achievement that was suppose to eliminate Hezbollah's control of Southern lebanon after the last war, and now what do they have in southern lebanon? Field upon fields filled with hezbollah missiles and terrorists - except this time they are NOW protected by UN troops. You have to be nuts to believe that Livni's diplomatic achievements are helping the security of the state of Israel. For god's sakes, Hezbollah is stronger in lebanon today than they were before the war - Iran filled the hezbollah coffers after the wars and they now have long range missiles that can reach dimona! YOU CALL THAT AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE SECURITY SITUATION? You tell reuven alder that I told him to shut the hell up with his spin for livni and kadima. This is shtuyote. Nobody worth their intellectual salt can actually make the argument that anything tzipi livni has done in her time as FM has actually improved the security situation. NOBODY. And what, people should vote for her because she gets along with condi rice? Please, who the hell cares about condi rice. Would somebody please elect a normal Israeli government. PLEASE.
5. Anyone other than than the treacherous 3 who abandoned Shali
bernard ross ,   st anns bay jamaica   (01.19.09)
6. Oh How I would like to see the threesome when Israelis have
meir elazar   (01.19.09)
the last word. Oh how I want them publicly disgraced when they are given the final boot. The choices may not be good by these three must go permanently for Israeli politics. They are the "Jimmy Failure Carters" of Israeli politics.
7. I'm voting for Ihud Leumi - National Union
roi ,   jerusalem   (01.19.09)
To you talkbackers, there are other choices. Ihud Leumi - National Union has Yaakov Ketzele Katz and Aryeh Eldad, who was beaten up in Amona and champions the rights of Israelis to live anywhere they want.
8. election coverage
Jane ,   Israel   (01.19.09)
How come none of the smaller parties receive any coverage. I am interested in the Green Movement-Meimad and know that there are many supporters--why don't you cover them, as well as the other small parties?
9. Livni & Barak wanted this war over quick to campaign
zionist forever   (01.19.09)
They were the heros of the hour because of the damage done to Hamas and as Bibi isn't a cabinet minister he can't claim any of the credit. The treacherous trio Olmert, Livni & Barak though thanks to their political solution we have achived nothing and the whole operation has been in vain. We are pulling out the troops before we have any agreements over anything. Egypt, Hamas and the rest of the world have not commited themselves to anything to stop smuggling or anything else we have just had alot of talk but nothing on paper. Hamas are talking about a 1 week truce right now and we are pulling out and it seems based on the Egyptian plan so far they are going to offer at best a 1 year ceasefire which is what they need to rearm. They are saying they intend to rearm. We still had a couple of days before Obama came to power to intensify this operation and try finish it off before he stepped in and put on the preasure to end it. Instead we decided on a unilateral ceasefire and started pulling the troops out and once they are out there is no going back especialy with Obama moving into the White House. Hamas can start their attacks again at any time and they know Israel won't go back in because the political preasure is on now and Livni and Barak have election campaigns to get back to. We can't suspend assets as they have non, we cant use sanctions because they are no UN members and the PA dont want Hamas in control of Gaza anyway .. there is nothing we can do. Regular soilders are saying there was more we could have done and the security establishment are saying that this unilateral ceasefire was a mistake. Gilad Shalit alive or dead is still rotting away in Hamastan and if we want him back we are going to have to pay Hamas price of 1000+ terrorists including killers like Kuntar. All this so Livni & Barak can try fool the public into thinking they have achieved a great victory because they have bombed the hell out of Gaza and a large portion of the idiot public will fall for it. In reality the deterent capability we got back during the war has now been lost thanks to this solution that Livni wants to use to get herself elected which is so bad that it makes 1701 look like the best and most sucecsfull resolution ever dreamed up. Kadima & Labour must be punished at the election and must loose by a landslide. THANKS LIVNI THANKS BARAK THANKS OLMERT THIS WHOLE THING HAS BEEN FOR NOTHING FOR THE SAKE OF AN ELECTION.
10. COWARDS.

zionist forever   (01.19.09)
I dislike all three of them and certainly have no love for Bibbi but sadly we are in a situation where all the candidates are far from perfect but if the choice is Natanyahu or Livni then Natanyahu gets my vote.
