31. The biggest problem is that the Israeli media..
Roni ,   Israel   (01.20.09)
gives these people a voice. Why not give a voice instead to all those who courageously took part in the defense of Israeli citizens, rather than some sick left winger who feels the life of Palestinians is worth more than that of Israeli citizens. Where has this reservist during the past few years as mothers held unto their dying children in Sderot?? I assume comfortably living in Tel Aviv or some other bubble in the country.
32. How many refuseniks?
Cynic #2   (01.20.09)

your responsibility for the state. What's the alternative message you can give terrorists who are rocketing your country?
34. "throw away the key"
Leslie ,   Beersheva, Israel   (01.20.09)
I think this reservist should be put in prison in the South, preferably near where all the missles land. Then maybe he'll understand reality.

Go IDF, show everyone how fabulous you are, the integrity you have and how what you say you follow through with - not like the pathetic banana republic called NZ

Common Sense ,   Israel   (01.20.09)
Your "the worst since the advent of TV" is very good point: Israeli war crimes are created by TV, managed and orchestrated by TV and, may be you are right, the best PR work since the advent of TV. The war is dirty and there is nothing to do with that. The war is about killing people not for something they personally commited, but just because they belong to the enimy side and hence real criminals are those that initiated the military conflict - Hamas in this war. As for "refusniks" they are just blind people that are missing any basic understanding of situation and their place in real world in contrast with dream world they are living in. You say they are brave (and this is what they think of themselves), but they are not. Actually they are cowards that don't have courage to take the responsibility. They live under IDF protection. Their life and life of their families is ensured only by those they are having "hutzpa" to call criminals. In military conflict you can't avoid taking side: any action or lack of action is working for one side or another. If you think IDF is wrong and ready to work for Hamas - go to Gaza. If you are on IL side - don't leave dirty work to be done by something else take yiour part of responsibility.
44. #6 You are CLUELESS
Alex ,   US   (01.20.09)
This so called "Israeli" is a traitor and should be treated to the fullest extent of the law, get maximum sentence. Spare as your misplaced "humanitasm" You must have been under a rock.
45. Noam Livneh is a disgrace to the HEROIC IDF
KB ,   US   (01.20.09)
46. Send them home. No place for them in army
Ilan ,   Ariel   (01.20.09)
They should be fined and sent home then never called to serve again. If they are officers they should be stripped of rank too.
47. 5
zionist forever   (01.20.09)
Its not the job of an army to evict jews from their homes as in the case of Gush Katif, the government want to do that then hire somebody to do it. In wartime though when you have an enemy who wants to kill Israelis then as as a soilder its his duty to follow orders and go fight even if he doesn't think thats the right way to handle the situation. If he thinks he knows best let him become a politician .. men like him are always welcomed in Meeretz or Hadash
48. #8 Frank
Avi ,   Israel   (01.20.09)

49. Now, the Shalit's swap list is 1001 long
observer   (01.20.09)
50. Noam is one of many refusers
Steven Feuerstein ,   United States   (01.21.09)
The IDF doesn't like to talk about it, but many Israelis, especially conscripts, find ways to avoid service. Mostly this is done through "gray" refusal (get a note from a doctor or leave the country). But thousands have also openly refused and courted or served jail time. They are true heroes, because they refuse "black flag" orders that inevitably result in civilian deaths. For more information: www.refusersolidarity.net.
51. Liar or fool??
Gershon ,   Kfar Saba   (01.22.09)
Livneh said "has Israel explored all the other possibilities before resorting to violence? The answer is no. Israel is bombing one of the most densely populated areas in the world and is killing women and children while preventing their evacuation." EIGHT years of bombing while we tried talks, disengagement, economic sanctions and other methods, so I think that the answer is YES, Israel did explore all other possibilites. Livneh is either a liar or a fool.
