If the entire population of Gaza counts as a 'casualty' then by his logic the traumatizing of Israeli citizens since the Arab countries declared war on it in '48 means its entire population is a 'casualty'. I have to wonder why no one is accusing Egypt of war crimes for closing the border crossings. Hamas is not a sworn enemy of Egypt or its people, so food and innocent civilians should be able to move freely across the Egyptian border. It is exceedingly strange to me that Israel is expected to do what no other country is expected to do- open its borders, provide safe haven, and deliver food, water, and power to a nation that refuses to recognize the right of Israel to exist or the right of her people to live. This kind of bizarre demand is precisely as insane as asking France to politely allow the German army to cross its borders during WWII. Mr. Falk should actually be accusing Mubarak and not Israel. Mubarak allowed Hamas to receive rockets which it used to attack Israel. Mubarak armed Hamas and is therefore criminally liable for the damage caused to innocent Arabs by the Israeli defensive action. Even more, Mr. Falk notes that "locking up" the Arabs was the cause of their trauma. Clearly, the Arabs could not be moved North or East which were Israeli military staging areas and legitimate targets for Hamas attacks. The only escape route available was south but throughout the war, Mubarak prohibited any passage of refugees into Sinai. Indeed Mubarak should be tried for his crimes.
