Time for the oil to speak
2. More Arab threats
Frank ,   Canada   (01.23.09)
So Arabs are threatening to attack Israel once again. I have no problem with that. Hopefully, the Right will be in power and will use nukes against these scums.
3. Blackmail won't get them anywhere . ..
Shalom   (01.23.09)
let's hope that Obama sees the Saudis for what they really are - hypocrites. I recall them being quite happy that Israel was doing their dirty work for them.
4. Our allies against terror ?????
trumpeldor   (01.23.09)
5. This isn't about Israel, this is about Oil prices
The Business   (01.23.09)
With Oil prices plummeting due to the bad economy, general super-saver (current) attitude of the American people, American oil reservoirs overflowing and a new US President seeking to shift away from oil. The price of a barrel, really can only go down. While this is affecting more the poorer OPEC members, especially Iran, it seems the Saudi's are starting to feel the pinch. The main reason for these threats, the same way that the Iranians did so during the Gaza operation declaring that oil should be used as a weapon. It due entirely to oils falling value, nothing to do with Israel. Again the Saudi's are using another event to raise the price of oil. If Obama really means change, I hope he will tell the Saudi's these economic games don't fly and he isn't and cannot be the one to force a deal. And if the Arab world really wants to see an improvement they should first stop teaching Antisemitism at every school house and stop sending money directly to Hamas. You want to send aid, send food, send actual engineers to build stuff, send the stuff directly, stop writing blank checks for terror.
6. They invent numbers and then make them as facts
rachel ,   usa   (01.23.09)
7. Ultimatums never work
Gil ,   Tel Aviv   (01.23.09)
The handshake in the pic has the Prince in the "dominant" position. It is a man who only understands threats and ultimatums.
8. saudi arrogance
fish tel-aviv   (01.23.09)
Look at these sons of desert who by a sheer irony happen to sit on the natural resources they can't even develop themselves, don't contribute to the world anything apart from fanaticism, intolerance, bigotry, and here they are - putting demands to US, spiced with blackmail. To threaten Israel with war, in alliance with Iran, well guys, you are well known for looking for trouble...
9. Pay close attention to Saudi proclimations
Lior ,   Israel   (01.23.09)
They always win. They hold something more dear to the world then a handful of Jews. As long as the world panders to black gold and those who hold it, we are screwed. Wonder why the entire world is against Israel knocking out Iran nukes, the above is your answer why. Be well advised, no President or no head of state thus far has been able to fight it!
10. Saudi Arabia
Birdi ,   Israel   (01.23.09)
This is pure blackmail. How low can they get?
11. They're just testing him .....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.23.09)
They want to see if he's as big a wimp as they hope he is. If Obama has any ''street smarts'' he'll put this turkey in his place.
12. don't anger the turki
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (01.23.09)
the last thing america needs is an angry turki. listen to the turki! peace will come if we heed the turki. the turki knows.
13. A has-been trying for air time.
Jon ,   San Diego, CA   (01.23.09)
Remind me again, why are we listening to this guy?
14. ANIMALS DONT EAT WET FOOD. its a saying. let me talk....
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (01.23.09)
lets not lose time at the saying. is gonna take my time and draw my nerve. I dont remember the saying right and we are gonna have some translation problem here. WE ALL GET SOME NERVE AND SOME LOUGH WHEN A SAUDI TALKS. WE ALL HAVE A LOT TO SAY ! DONT WE ? my point : BRING ME SOME OTHER PEOPLE THAT WHO IS NEW AND WHO TRULY HAS SOMETHING TO SAY NEW. Atilla Karagözoğlu
15. So what
Michael ,   Zurich, Switzerland   (01.23.09)
I couldn't care less about the Saudis... So what!
16. Please...OBAMA
Franklin ,   Paris   (01.23.09)
...."Turki wrote. He said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had written to Saudi King Abdullah last week urging Saudi Arabia to lead a "jihad", or holy war, against Israel. This call for jihad would, if pursued, create "unprecedented chaos and bloodshed" in the region, said Turki. "So far, the kingdom has resisted these calls, but every day this restraint becomes more difficult to maintain," he said. ....." Please MR OBAMA...give to this guy an opportunity to suicidal by alliance with the Ayatollas doctrines.
17. Empty Threats
Astral ,   UK   (01.23.09)
Turki al-Faisal knows full well the Americans keep the regime alive and going, without the Yanks, they would have been long ago goners. Stop kidding the West and carry on your corruption. You Arabs are the worlds greatest jokers, you couldn't get the oil out of the ground without the 'non-believers'.
18. Prince Turki al-Faisal said
(01.23.09)
He was head of Saudi Intelligence (1977-2001), ambassador to UK, then US. He removed terrorists who occupied al-Haram in 1979. He said: "Saudi Arabia has worked with the United States for the past 70 years. Both countries have benefited from this enduring partnership. Remember that we face the same threat: Bin Ladin targeted Saudi Arabia before he targeted America. Al-Qa'ida has thousands of followers from more than 60 countries, including those of many U.S. allies. That he chose 15 Saudis for his murderous gang, many of whom, he boasted, did not even know the ultimate goal of their mission, can only be explained as an attempt to disrupt the close relationship between our two countries.... There are those in America who condemn all Saudi Arabians as uncivilized, close-minded and barbaric. But such blanket accusations are not worthy of the American people.... Let us deny extremists the victory of undermining our partnership. Instead, let us remain strong, and, whatever shortcomings we see in each other, let us confront them and overcome them together in a spirit of mutual respect and openness."
19. Actions Louder Than Words
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.23.09)
The Saudis are talking a big game, but if you watch their actions over the past 8-10 years they are increasingly bound up with the US on an economic and strategic level and can't afford to annoy the Americans too much. they are, even if it is uncomfortable for them, in the US-Egypt-Israel paradigm. They have no interest in allying themselves with Iran, whom they perceive as a regional threat. This is saber rattling for forms sake - product placement. It has nothing to do with reality.
20. with oil at 40USD who cares?
Danny   (01.23.09)
21. It's not Israel. It's Iran.
John ,   Europe   (01.23.09)
He is sending message to Obama that he will not tollerate another arabian power shoulder to shoulder with Saudia. Especially not Shia power, that will have influence over Iraq, Kuwait and Stans. So either back off and support Saudi plans or have problems with oil. Remember, 7,9% of USA GDP comes or is directly associated with Saudi Arabia.
22. Obama needs to follow through on energy self-sufficiency
Sam ,   Canada   (01.23.09)
Obama needs to follow through on making America and the West less dependent on Mideast oil. The West needs to stop grovelling to the Mideast for oil. What the Arabs can't accomplish themselves in wars with Israel, they the want the Americans to do with forced withdrawals.
23. Regime Change in Arabia
nadav ,   israel   (01.23.09)
I think the Saudi autocracy in Arabia needs to end, then there will be less terror and hate in the world between Muslims and non Muslims. Everyone knows that the Wahabi Saudis arm, and financial support terrorists across the world, from Morocco to Mindanao!
24. Obama needs to tell world how Arabs make their own people...
JC ,   IL, IL   (01.23.09)
suffer. They steal their money, food, use their kids as suicide bombers. None of the money the world gives them goes toward helping the people. It all goes toward hate education and weapons. Don't blame the Jews for how you treat your own people!!!!!!!!!
25. More blah blah blah
Petra ,   usa   (01.23.09)
The Saudis are the main reason for anti semitism. They have hated Israel from the beginning and use words instead of direct figthing. The Saudi peace plan is dead, thank G-d. Israel cannot allow her enemy to live w/in her gates. They're only moaning because oil prices are down and so is their ability to fund more terrorists.
26. Arabias Poodle, Bush is gone
Petra ,   usa   (01.23.09)
so, they'll have to hatch up another one for sale and let's pray it aint Obama. The Saudis are the main reason for sponsored terror.
27. Abdullah pulled the same stunt on Bush
Steve   (01.23.09)
Then Saudi Crown Prince (now King) Abdullah bin abdul Aziz, in August 2001, similarly threatened Bush if he did not engage on the side of the "Palestinians" in their conflict with Israel. Bush panicked. He sent Abdullah a two page letter promising he would announce the establishment of a Muslim (terror) state in Israel. A jubilant and triumphant Abdullah shared Bush's letter with other Arab leaders; he invited Yasser Arafat to Riyadh so the mass-murderer could read Bush's letter. Mere days after the Saudi sponsored 9/11 terror atrocites, Mr. Bush announced his vision for a "Palestinian" Muslim terror state in Israel.
28. Obama, king Abdullah, prince Faisal....!
Jan   (01.23.09)
Is the article above the arab/muslim " ouverture " to the Obama reign in the White house. Their opening shot " unless you rein in Israel, our relationship is at risk ". The Bush administration has contributed to the slaughter of innocents. The Pygmy of Iran ,Ahmadino, is urging the Saudis to lead a " jihad " against Israel. Prince Faisal's reply " If persued, it would create unprecedented chaos and bloodshed in the region; so far the kingdom has resisted these calls, but every day this restrain is becoming more difficult to maintain. Lets start from the beginning : A) the Bush administration contribution to slaughter the innocents ? I agree. Bush paid the Saudis US $$ and the Saudis paid the terrorists with the same US oil $$. B ) Since 48', the Saudis have been in the forefront for the anihilation of Israel and it's jewih content. C) They are responsible for the creation and maintenance of slums for their BELOVED brothers. D) Saudia is the "bank" for most ,if not all operation against Israel. E) It is also the main drive for spreading their murderous ideology throughout the world(it's called islam) F) Saudi's " moment of glory-9/11" all born And bred there. G) They have contributed in no small part to the world chaos with their 'turn of the dice" 145.00 $ oil barrel. H) Faisal's urge to have Obama to condemn Israel's "atrocities"?. but please do not touch OUR way of life ie: beheading, stoning females, eye removal (Iran's specialty) limb cut-off, throat slashing, acid disfigurement (Pakistan specialty) all done when victims alive. It's allah command, it's in the koran and enforced by imams, it's our blessed religion. I am an American, a US citizen, probably among the elders of the majority of the 320 million population. For the fist time in my life' I am a little aprehensive. Have we made the right choice, or did our petro dollars made it for us?
29. We are ready
saudi ,   ksa   (01.23.09)
We are ready ya prince, let start the war now, this is the best time, Iran, and Egypt with us, Syria with us , the history with us , Glory to the Arabian Peninsula , the real semitic
30. Don't be Deceived
Arthur   (01.23.09)
It's all part of the act folks. Since when is a Saudi Wahabbi going to take orders from a shiite politician? Obama spent his early years studying in a Wahabbi funded madrassa. He came out of nowhere and was able to spend more money on his campaign than any other candidate in history. This man was groomed by the Saudis to be where he is today. Hold on to your kefiyes, it's going to be a wild wahabbi ride.
