If we really want to continue to claim that we have a shred of humanity and that it extends beyond our own borders to innocent women and children than we should show our humility and donate to the fund for humanitarian aid to Gaza - donations@dec.org.uk. I have donated to our charities in this war as well as to this one. Others should do the same.

The reason they didn't run the ad is because they didn't want to have to run a reciprocal ad from Israel, which at some point they would have.

The BBC's refusal to broadcast an appeal for humanitarian aid produced by the Disasters Emergency Committee is not a protection of its impartiality; providing humanitarian aid is a neutral act. Providing humanitarian aid does not involve taking sides; it is to recognise that people in Gaza are in need and to care for those needs. It is not necessary to provision blame in order to recognise suffering. The suffering is indeed caused but as the civilians who will receive this aid were purportedly not meant to be targets of Israeli aggression it is frankly bizarre to suggest that by providing aid to civilians you are supporting an militantly anti-Israeli Gazan faction. If the Israelis are declaring that civilians are not targets of their aggression then providing aid to civilians is not a biased act.

There is no guarantee that any of the aid will get to the people who its for. Rather, it will be seized by Hamas, who intercepted aid during the conflict and are involved in black market racketeering. Hamas really couldn't care less about their "human shields" They don't need them now the war is over for the moment. This aid would only go to boost them, and its obvious - even to the BBC.

So this won't change anyone's mind. The BBC is merely a dressed up version of al Hayam when it comes to the mideast. Well, one part al Hayam and one part Dearborn Independent. The Beeb never saw anything in the mideast they couldn't blame on the Jews. And now by NOT airing this agitprop they blame THAT on the Jews too.

The BBC remains the only, true news organization with the ability to report - competently and impartially - international news events. In addition to disseminating news, a primary duty of a news organization is to provide a studied, healthy skepticism to the relative points of view in an argument or in a news event. In this case, you've done so by recognizing a fairly overt ploy for international sympathy by the Palestinians. The BBC was correct in its decision - you could have/should have done nothing else. Shame on your country's ministers for thinking otherwise.
