In 1939 (just prior to WWII) the world's Jewish population was 16 million (an all time high). The largest populations were located in the U.S., and the deep interior of the Soviet Union. Both locations were protected from the Nazi regime by natural barriers. With regards to the U.S., the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans prevented Nazi access. And the vastness of the Russian terrain, combined with the Russian winter, prevented Germany's access to Soviet Jewish populations. Further, individual Jews escaping persecution could not have had the foresight to predict WWII. I believe your knowledge about Soviet Jews is very limited. During the WWII every healthy man was fighting if not in the army then in the partisan brigades. Others who couldn’t fight because of the health or age worked for the army. There were many Jews who gave their lives on the war line. There were many Jews prosecuted by Stalin before and after the WWII. This information is wildly available in English. You don’t have to be a Political Scientists just type in Google search: “Soviet Jews during WWII” or “Soviet Jews” (for wider selection).
