1. Best not to judge! At least he thanked the donor's family
(01.29.09)
Perhaps this man's Rabbi will begin re-education programs so that people will understand the importance of organ donations!
2. It should also ban him from receiving donations
Jo   (01.29.09)
double standards are common
3. 2: Should a person with Hepetitis be denied to?
Yosef ,   Haifa   (01.29.09)
If a person can't donate their organs because they have a medical condition such as an infectious disease, should they be banned from receiving organs as well?
4. More bad PR, Ynet is at times and enemy to Israel
Mark ,   Maale Adumim   (01.29.09)
I sometimes wonder why do you like to print some of your stories. This one is bad PR for Israel and for the Heradim. Not all Heradim think like this person and I myself have a ADI card and I am religious. And many times organ donations come from Jews and go to Arabs.
5. saving a life
Ilana   (01.29.09)
Saving life must be top priority of any religion. Otherwise what is that religion worth?? I do feel disgusted and ashamed to hear such horrid brainwashed statements from Jews.
6. it is sad ! so sad that ALL RELIGION OWNERS STAY IN DEEP ...
Atilla Karagözoğlu   (01.29.09)
I dont want to press those hearts by wrong but ! plase give a look todays world ! tears, blood everywhere. AND AND WHAT WE DO ? WE STILL TRY TO PROTECT THE FAITHS. WE STILL WE STILL TRY TO PROTECT WORDS OF THE GOD in fact who truly knows and understand THE WORDS OF THE GOD corerctly. each case has its own sensitable feelings. while in pain people have right to say to ack as they feel. BUT PLEASE ! WORLD NEEDS HELP ! MUCH THAN ORGANS. LETS SEE THE WORDS WITH TODAYS VISION. *** when I was in the states when I got my first driver licence behind the licence I DID FILL MY ORGANS DONATION. hey ! important thing is SOUL. NO SOUL CAN BE USED BY OTHERS. in fact ! why not. ı wish we can donate our souls too. if its good soul ! take it. I mean tell me the way ! ı donate my soul. ı know ı am writing so selfish. BUT ! I KNOW I KNOW AS I KNOW MY NAME MY SOUL IS NOT THAT BAD. NOT THAT DIRTY. drinkings and seen other women ALL MY MISTAKES you think ! my soul is not worth to take ? *** I know this become a stupid post. as Talula said once ; atilla as usual :) you dont talk lie aşlways :) you see ! I GIVE MY FIGHT HERE TODAY ! THAT IS MY CHOSE.
7. ban them receiving
רוני ,   the hague   (01.29.09)
I can understand the hesitance to give organs. From an emotional point of view, I have no idea what I would do if confronted with the decision for a relative. But the way these haredim act only makes me despise them more. Yes, we'll take, but there is blanket ban on giving. Then DON'T give to haredim, let them die as god intended. There should be a change in halacha, saving a life should be the priority.
8. What a wonderful family.
Aviva ,   Israel.   (01.29.09)
May this Arab family get all the light and blessing in this world. Amen!
9. He is Selfish
esti ,   tel aviv   (01.29.09)
If his halachic laws don't allow him to give, then he should not take. Alot of Haredis are selfish in Israel. They dont work and take money from the government. They learn in yeshivas and sit silently on buses, rush around in the street and do not share thier education. I love religion and religious people, but not those who use thier religion as a mask to be Selfish, To take from Society and not give back to Society.
10. ah, the beauty of religion...
j   (01.29.09)
live your life according to rules designed for a society that lived centuries before yours. listen up strict religious observers, you dont live in a semi-tribal society in the desert thousands of years ago. deal with it.
11. Proof
Sagi ,   Israel   (01.29.09)
that the super Haredi are selfish and self centered individuals.
12. The father of the girl should have been rebuilding his
Rivkah   (01.29.09)
daughter's heart with Co-Enzyme-Q-10 and L-Carnitine, the building blocks of the heart instead of getting a transplant. I have talked to people who did that when they were too old or their heart was too bad to get high enough on a transplant list to get a transplant before they would have died. The adult dose in the Journal of the American Medical Association is 200 mg Co-Q-10 daily and 2000 mg L-Carnitine daily until the heart is rebuilt and functioning normally. Then take half that dose as a maintenance dose for life.
13. Where had your doughter been now ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.29.09)
if there would be nobody to give ?And if you need one , and only your son would be a compatible donor ?
14. Typical haredi parasite
Reuven ,   Beit Shemesh, Israel   (01.29.09)
15. How racist
Gazan ,   Gaza city,Palestine   (01.29.09)
"what would happen when Arab blood flows through my daughter's veins. But the blood is replenished so this isn't a problem." How racist and shameful this sentence is. What would the donating arab family say when reading this now? That's awful. If I were that man, I would have done my best to thank those people. I would have at least cared about their feelings cuz they are such wonderful people.
16. Honor the family
aaron ,   boca raton FL   (01.29.09)
This story should name and quote the father of the boy who died: "Children are always children," Khaled Abu Amar, the grief-stricken father [said] "It doesn't matter if they are Arabs or Jews. If it's impossible to save my son, I want to help other children. It's a matter of conscience," he said. (from Jerusalem Post)
17. Many rabbis approve of organ donation!!
Chaya ,   bat Yam   (01.29.09)
This father is following a minority opinion! Saving a life supercedes all other considerations.
18. double standard
Lisa ,   Switzerland   (01.29.09)
if this haredi wants to live life by the book and follow rules that were written thousands of years ago in the desert- fine- good for him. But he should also LIVE by those rules: no transplants, no hospital, no phones, no computer, no government handouts, no cars, no planes, and the list goes on- pretty primitive and backward- right? Donating organs is a gift to another person who hopefully will live longer- it is generous, unselfish and kind- which this man IS NOT. I hope he does not speak for the Haredi as a group.
19. Enemy of the religious is the same as enemy of God.
mic   (01.29.09)
No different than the goyim that hate Israel who really hate God. And that ain't gonna get you farther than the end of this life... Being religious means you are on the path and trying not that you are perfect you idiots. You don't even try! Being "jewish" and doing this will get you a ticket downstairs in the end where you will be deleted... Have a nice day.
20. To #4 Mark: Why condemn Ynet? Does the truth hurt?
David ,   Karmiel, Israe;   (01.29.09)
As Jews we have always been taught that the most important and scared thing to us is life and that the saving of a life is a mitzvah of the highest order! Doesn't this apply to Haredim too, a community which leeches off the country, does NOT serve to protect their country (except for a very few), force their beliefs on others, and extorts every shekel it can from the Treasury? Take, take, take is all the Haredim know. This is a disgrace and one day this "man" be will be called upon by his Maker to answer for his sin against mankind!
21. Ironic
Gregg ,   Haifa   (01.29.09)
Hahaha !! How ironic this can be !! A Jew saved by an Arab... I'd love to see it happening more often and vive versa too !! This is call LOVE
22. Hey pal, ever heard of pikuach nefesh?
(01.29.09)
23. Is this who you are?
ahmed ,   Jordan   (01.29.09)
"But I must admit that many in our family asked questions – what would happen when Arab blood flows through my daughter's veins. But the blood is replenished so this isn't a problem." Is this who you Israelis really are?
24. Charedi Bashing
mordechai ,   sydney, Australia   (01.29.09)
If you did not realize, this article was written for the sole purpose of bashing Chardeim. I think that before the author of the piece wrote his Charedi hatred, he should have consulted with a Rabbi who is knowledgeable in this area, and ask him why the double standards. I can assure you, that there as a satisfactory answer to this question, unless your hatred is so deep, that you will not accept any answer you get. Also, when there is love and brotherhood among Jews, the army of Jews fighting it's enemies, see victory.
25. #15 who are we to judge?
vashDi ,   Israel   (01.29.09)
you are so quick to attack. the guy nearly lost his daughter, give him a break there is nothing worse than loosing a child. and as for the new law on organ donations it sucks it's unfair . if it's what G-d intended for this man then so be it, freedom of choice.
26. donating..
meir ,   london   (01.29.09)
I see the same hatred for arabs is for charedim.quite disturbing. The law is the law. Time doesnt change it and it does not change because some people think they know better than The One above. Its quite simple really.Their law says they are able to donate and our law says we cant.full stop.
27. Incorrect Judgement
Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (01.29.09)
If one is willing to receive, he/she should be required to be a potential donor. This is also true regarding medicines. If one is willing to profit from someone else's risk (in being an experimental subject) he/she must be willing to be such a subject. This is the only possible moral position. To be willing to accept a gift one must be willing to do the same. I don't give a rat's ass about finicky little BS "interpretations" by "Rabbis" of some poorly phrased sentence from a society steeped in ignorance and superstition. You want to benefit? Serve and risk. Funny how the shorrers find reasons they can't risk themselves in the military or anywhere else but are first in line for charity and benefits.
28. a two way street
nossen tzvi ,   YERUSHALAYIM   (01.29.09)
Please visit the American Jewish site www.hods.org to obtain complete and honest information about the subject of organ transplants-including the issue of takers only, Also see the video clip of the Goodman family.
29. donor
colin   (01.29.09)
This farther is the most dispicable kind of human that is blessed with health. The professor should never have given this persons child the donor heart. Let his dati religious find a heart for them. And still wants to know what about arab blood. Let him hang his head in front of the family that donated the heart. Hope that the professor removes all names of these low down rubbish from the lists awaiting on donors in the future. Let these harid rot in hell
30. #23 If this is what we Israelis "really were", as you put it
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (01.29.09)
then the father of that little girl wouldn't have been ashamed of the reactions of some within his family, and wouldn't have thanked the donor family. He simply wouldn't have mentioned it at all.
