I think that Jesus really cared for the common people. The people that he had problems with, were more the religious leaders of that day. The chief priests and the scribes are mentioned the most. This is fairly consistant belief, have some of these other odd ones, and they just don't make sense. There is also a message in there that religious leaders of people are held more accountable.
