4. Iran should recognize North Cyprus Turkish Republic!
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (01.29.09)
As a contre-action Iran should recognize Turkish Republic of North Cyprus as independent state and send envoy. North Cyprus Turkish Republic is a Muslim country denied by Christian west, LET US SEE IRANIAN SUPPORT TO MUSLIMS

You claim, "the US navy intercepted the Cyprian ship last weak in the Red sea and said it intended its shipment to Syria" According to reports I've seen, the ship attempted to approach the Sinai coast to unload - this, after changing its registration en route. They were blocked by US, Israeli and Russian warships. US inspectors couldn't verify the contents of locked containers below deck. Only then was the ship instructed to head to Syria. Presumably Hizbullah will now get those "humanitarian supplies".

Dav Lev ,   Burbank CaUSA   (01.30.09)
The chance that the UN will pass any law detrimental to Israel's enemies, is like Abbas having cornbeef sandwiches and kosher pickle in a good Jewish deli in Brooklyn, New York. I don't know about intl laws of the sea, but I do know that Israel can stop a ship outside the Gaza mile limit, if it thinks it is headed towards it. Israel should however, blow this Iranina vessel out of the water...as it gets too close to Gaza. This might start a war with Iran, but Iran is waiting for a nuclear capability before it provokes Israel too much. That is another story.
11. Iran will fight to the last “Palestinian”.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (01.30.09)
The Iranian regime has worked consistently to undermine any Israeli-Palestinian peace process. Seven years ago, the Israeli navy intercepted the Karine-A, a Gaza-bound freighter carrying 50 tons of Iranian arms, supplied during a fragile truce. Four-and-a-half years later, war erupted after Hizballah, an Iranian-sponsored group, attacked Israel. The United States then pressured Israel to accede to a ceasefire, and Iran claimed victory. Ali Akbar Velayati, Khamenei's top foreign policy advisor, declared that the war had shown Israel to be a "paper tiger." About Iran and its vassals : http://xrl.us/bebj56

13. #4 - Let's see how you justify land theft, Turk
William ,   Israel   (01.30.09)
Cyprus was never Turkish or Muslim land, but in 1975 Turkey sent an army and tried to take it from its real owners. Do you Muslims ever learn to stop taking things? I'd love to hear how you justify your obvious illegal actions with stealing Cyprus, kowtowing to Hamas terrorists, bombing Kurd civilians, and still try to get into the EU.
14. #5 - Very true - Curpus is a big Arab destination
William ,   Israel   (01.30.09)
Where did the Palestinians who took over the Bethlehem birthplace of Jesus went after being surrounded by the IDF?? CYRPUS! Where they were housed and protected until Eurabia nations took them in as "refugees".

17. we have only ourselves to blame
zionist forever   (01.30.09)
We pretended to control Gaza sea borders but then everytime one of these boats sets sail we threaten to turn them back but then do nothing and allow them to dock. Now its Irans turn and they send weapons not blankets. Just like with Hamas with make threats but then never follow through so nobody takes anything we say seriously.
18. #6 a perfectly legal delivery to syria
observer   (01.30.09)
International media reported that an Iranian-owned merchant vessel flying a Cypriot flag was boarded early last week by US Navy personnel who discovered artillery shells on board. The ship was initially suspected of being en route to delivering its cargo to smugglers in Sinai who would transfer the ammunition to Hamas in Gaza, but the US Navy became uncertain over the identity of the intended recipient since "Hamas is not known to use artillery," The Iranian ship’s captain showed the US boarding team documents recording the Syrian port of Latakia as its cargo’s destination. it was a Cypriot-flagged, Iranian-owned commercial vessel, and the maritime law is less able to justify stop and search operations against such ships.
19. BIG LIE
Ray Saraf ,   London   (01.30.09)
Actualy US Navy very clearly announced that the cargo was for Syria. So I do not underestand how thisd newspaper make such a big lie
20. It's a Russian, not an Iranian ship
Galuteus Maximus ,   California, USA   (02.02.09)
Uh, it happens to be a Russian ship, flying a Cypriot flag. Israel blowing it up would be an act of war--against Russia. Frankly, the story doesn't make much sense. Why would Iranians send weapons to Syria via the Red Sea, through the Suez Canal, and northward along the Mediterranean past Israel, just to get them to Syria? (Then again, the Karine A back in 2001 didn't make much sense either, and still doesn't.) Wait--there will be more developments, after everyone has stopped noticing.
