61. No more trips to Antalya! Turkey has shown its true colors!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.30.09)
We must not support those who side with countries and terrorists who work for the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people. Turkey has chosen sides and we must only go to places where we are welcome. Turkey has allied itself with Syria and Iran and the puppets Hezbollah and Hamas. Another question that must be asked is whether there is any future in maintaining diplomatic relations with Turkey? Turkey should also consider how its move to Islamic Fundamentalism will affect its desire to become a member of the EU.
62. Like his name-Erdogyan-must be Armenian-LOL!
Ariel ,   Europe   (01.30.09)
63. Who cares what turkey/muslims/arabs think/say?!
kb ,   US   (01.30.09)
When was the last time anybody paid any attention to turkey?! They are just that, turkeys (US thanksgiving). The arabs/muslims grasp at straws, that's all they got.
64. Davos Conqueror: Erdogan
(01.30.09)
as far as ı see PM Erdogan thougt lesson everyone that Turkey is a great country in the world. Turkey is stronger than in the past
65. # 2 Where are secular Turks???
Turkey   (01.30.09)
Good observations. Erdogan wants a one man show to impress his feudal macho uneducated voters. He is not a man of diplomacy. He is more into setting up his fascist rule in the country. He came to power promising freedom to all, he has bonded with the religious people, with the Kurds, with the Armenians, with the EU supporters, with uneducated poor and with rich right wing liberals. All his aim is to take revenge of the seculars and the military. The answer to your question 'Where are the secular Turks in all this?' Some are jailed, some are removed from power, and most are silenced because Erdogan and his men spreading fear in the country. Whoever criticise the government, they put them in jail without a court process. There is a McCarthy period in Turkey. Does this sound like a fascism to you? Yes, it is true fascism. In 2007 secular Turks were demonstrating in thousands and warning of this. And, miltary also warned this. But, the Western world said military and the secular elite were opressing the religious people. So, here we are... those religious people are taking revenge on secular democratic Turkiye, military and Ataturk. In fact, Erdogan is quite similar to Khumayni and Ahmadinajad. Very sad for secular Turks and Turkiye.

69. All of this outburst by Turkey....
Ed, LA, USA   (01.30.09)
.....is mainly due to the fact they have already lost the chance of getting into EU with their continuing horrific Human Right abuses and their racist policies, and that they see a great defeat coming their way in regards to Obama’s presidency with his human rights stand in the world, Israel’s reluctance to support their Anti Armenian lobbying in US this year, and the imminent passage of the Armenian Genocide bill in US congress which has a good chance this year. They know the Armenians Diaspora will never allow them to escape justice for the prior massacres by Abdul Hammid II policies and the ultimate Genocide of 1.5 M Christian Armenian women, children, and old men by the young Turks party uprooting them from the land of their heritage which they had lived for the passed 3000 years and send them to the desert of Syria while the Armenian men joined the Allies in WWI to fight in the side of Freedom, liberty, and Democracy. This was not a light hearted decision knowing the behavior of violent butcher Turks but that decision by the Armenians turned the tide of WWI in favor of Allies. I don’t think even an old fashion military coup can stop there Islamists this time around. Armenians and Jews live in a parallel universe. Both are old civilizations who have been persecuted out of envy and prejudice. Both have had dark chapters in their history of Genocide. Both people hold on to their old religion, their unique culture and language and maintain their ethnicity. Both have a significant Diasporan population. Both are a young democracy surrounded by enemies who whish to kill them.

idil ,   istanbul / Turkey   (01.30.09)
and... i really care about turkısh jews.what do they think? How do they feel... i wish them to keep away from this variable turkısh-israelis communucation because they re the most important things that we share. and about erdoğan..he is just welcoming his votes.i dont care about him.he cant represent most of turks.actually , he moved egoistic.he messed up.im not talking about what he said.his style..his diction.. in an international platform..were terrible. but people, the world was supporting him .we had got a crise because of his wifes headscarf.they tried to change the rules about going on to univercities with headscarf.in Turkey a person cant work in any government agencies with headscarf or its forbidden to be in a education places like a student or teacher with headscarf.they tried to change these rules.it was another crise.. we think that the world tries to cut us .. really we think like that !! we think they dont want a strong country in euroasia.and they re succesfull at this job.we dont trust EU, we dont trust USA.our neighbours..oh never..because they re the most hardworkest countries who hurt us if its possible you to watch , here is a video about what im trying to say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPiPOL9-EQs&NR=1 fettulah gülen is the whiter version of ahmedinejad here is the person that USA government entertains and harbours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od2PGDgEdJc&feature=PlayList&p=C2EB2725CA319D90&playnext=1&index=11 i think there is no neccessary for the subtitles / thats why there is noone to like USA government in Turkey... shame.
71. Hero Erdogan?
Turko ,   Istanbul   (01.30.09)
Erdogan, if people in Palestine think that you are a hero, please leave Turkey and move to Palestine, and be a "hero" in Palestine. Because Turkey think that you can not be a "hero", we don't need such a hero. We've been suffering ethnical terror for many years and it is unacceptable that our PM frankly supports Hammas and doesn't took them responsible in that tragedy! Leave Turkey Erdogan! Turkey doesn't need you but it's clear that Arab world needs you more than we do! Go and become their hero, you can't be ours!
72. important relationship
TURKISH SWORD   (01.30.09)
First of all..I do want to to read comments of illegal armenian immigrants of US here !! go and talk about Putin's a billion bribe. Secondly, my Jewish neigbor is happy & OK. Thirdly, Turkey& Israel have common interests. We have serious millenium projects.
73. Peres was scared to death to mention 1.5 million Armenians
Ken Jurist   (01.30.09)
Peres if he had any guts should have told Ergodan, do you think killing 1.5 million Armenians is terror? Do you think destroying 4000 Kurdish villages is terror? Do you think bombing Iraqi Kurdistan is terror? Ergodan in his own words. We would oppose a Kurdish state, even if it were in Argentina.
74. PM. erdogan reminded me of Moses
Arman ,   Istanbul, Turkey   (01.30.09)
PM. erdogan reminded me of Moses, sorry I meant RaMoses... It is easier to destroy than to build. Our PM chose the easiest way and dynamited Turkish-Israeli relations in 1 minute, a world record. According to USCWM there are 1,839,000 arabs living in Turkey. Since the "reign" of erdogan started our arabic descendant citizens feel more at home. Let them cherish their moments of victory thinking they have at last managed to severe relations between Turkey and Israel. I could'nt share their feelings for Palestinians for I don't have any arab blood running in my veins. There are 22 arab countries in the world and yet only 1 country following the rules of Moses is unbearable. This is racism in the real sense of the word. Jāmiʻat ad-Duwal al-ʻArabiyya remains silent against events taking place in Gaza. So is it only our duty to harass Israel where rockets are fired on to it's people every day.Of course killing of children is unfortunate but do we really should severe our relations with this thousandssss-year-old nation who tried to live every corner of the world but only felt at home where their ancestors did. Turkey or as I would like to call Anatolia ( Greek ανατολη for "rising of the sun" or "East", Turkish Anadolu = ana "mother" and dolu "filled") is our Motherland (Maybe that is why the Germans tought it would be a good idea to unite Anatolia with their "Faterland". "The Balkans" was the heart of the Ottoman Empire and the army that took Κωνσταντινούπολη (Istanbul) was'nt formed of Turks or muslims entirely, we must render to Serbo-Croats, the other proud nations of the Balkans and mercenaries (who were mainly Christians) what is theirs. An army composed of thousands of soldiers with different mother-tongues . Ottoman rulers were of many people, if we have a closer look at their maternal ancestory (Greeks, Serbs, Levants, etc.), they were more Ottoman than Turkish. Murad III.' mother Nurbanu Sultan was a member of a wealthy Venetian Jewish family. The Ottoman Empire was composed of many nations, just like today's USA, but with less tolerance, taking those days' circumstances into account. During the Balkan Wars, one by one each "millet" (nation) left the Ottoman unity and became soverign. By doing so they started exterminating their neighbours they saw unfit; such as Muslims, Sabetians and Jews. During the Balkan wars and WW1, Especially in Bulgaria and Greece the losses were great. A few million got killed before managing to reach to Turkey where they saw fit to settle down to start a new life for they were Muslims (which meant TURK those days). Greeks and the Bulgars killed their own kin just because they were not ORTHODOX christians... During the "War of Independence" Anatolians fought against the invading Greeks, Brits, French and Russians (Russian and French armies were reinforced with Armenian committees, Hınchak and Dashnak). Armenians of ANATOLIA tried to be independent, many Muslim Anatolians were killed, alas their efforts backfired and became victims of their desire to be free once again. Armenians that were not killed were forced out of their homeland and perished on the way. I guess the Europeans were the only winners of this conflict that gave birth to detestable results and enemity still lives to this day. No one has right to be happy and feel content about the terrible events took place in Anatolia those days unless they believe in that cursed motto "Kill one person you are a murderer, kill thousands you are a hero, kill them all you are a god." SHALOM ve LEHITRAHOT
75. Erdogan
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (01.31.09)
Erdogan attacked Israel in order to please the Islamists, who probably number in the tens of millions and are an important voting block.Kamal Ataturk changed Turkeysh writing, but not theTurkeysh mindset.Nobady answered Mr Perese's question, what would you do ? if Istanbul would be bombarded with 100 rackets a day.
76. ErdoClown is now competing with AhmadiWhacko for hegemony
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (01.31.09)
ErdoClown is now competing with AhmadiWhacko for Muslim World's childish attention. Like all power plays for hegemony in the Middle East this is a deadly game between two powerful Muslim countries having a common border. It is inevitable that given a little bit of time Turkey and Iran are bound to clash and the result will be a horrendous carnage in the best Muslim tradition.
