11. Hamas did little to improve Palestinian life.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (01.30.09)
The root of the current crisis lies in Hamas policy. Israel withdrew unilaterally from the Gaza Strip in 2005, giving the Palestinian Authority an unprecedented opportunity to govern. Hamas took 76 of 132 seats in the January 2006 elections, and while the group used the poll to claim democratic legitimacy, it eschewed the responsibility of leadership. It had built popularity on violence, and found opposition easier than governance. It did little to improve Palestinian life. Rather than develop industry, it destroyed the multimillion-dollar greenhouses which Israel left behind to help build the Palestinian economy; rather than eliminate corruption, it diverted millions into Hamas coffers. And you know there will be a repeat as the Hamas crew begins gearing up for yet another cycle of mortar & rocket "resistance".

Sad that Hams is sadistic to its own. Instead of teaching hatred and lies and infantile things like their evil mickey mouse show, they could have proper plumbing, water and electricity, hospitals and universities to be proud of. Nice clean streets, gardens, pretty houses and clean happy children. To spend their aid money on weapons, tunnels of hatred, and themselves (the hamas leaders have HUGE fancy houses) they could havemade Gaza bloom and live in peace and prosperity. Itis likethe bad pupil who know nothing and blames his teacher for not knowing how to handle a class. Itis never ever his fault though. And he will never ever succeed. Itis sad to see kids doomed to generations of dirt, poverty and hatred.
